Runs great on my rig, even on high settings:
Pentium IV HT 2.8ghz
512 MB Dual channel
Geforce 6800 256MB
Never really liked the first two games. Won't be buying this one either based on my impressions of the demo. meh

I defragged my drive and lowered dynamic lighting from high to med, everything else on high. Runs like a dream now, much better then BFV and I'm not having any stutter like before.
I love this game. Love it.
I really enjoy the MEC Assault, anti tank, and support class. The AK reload animation is cool, and its great fun to use the support gun and mow down people from afar.

So a game that isn't out yet and no one has played yet is a better game than Battlefield because Valve said there would be "news"?

trick for Geforce4 owners:
1) download the Microsoft Framework, do a search on google (+download +microsoft framework)
2) download DXTweaker: http://mrbauer.net/files/dxtweaker.rar
3) Extract to a folder on desktop
4) Run DXTweaker, and goto "New" on the right
5) Point it to your root BF2 EXE (in your EA Sports\battlefield 2\ DIR)
6) Check the 2 boxes that contain 'SHADER' , one is FORCE PP SHADER OTHER IS PS SHADER or something of that sourt
7) Click Apply, and then click RUN on the top.

Got it up and running (although I still can't delete those weird 0 byte downloads I have from filefront). Graphics arent quite as good as I was expecting, but it runs MUCH better than I was expecting. A good trade off, imo.

i swear i thought the same thing when i played for the first few minutes: wtf?! is this going to get fun?
and then it did get fun. amazingly fun.
form a squad, mount up on a vehicle, tear off across a huge map and go rape an enemy base.
i wanted to quit my job right there and then (but the DSL bill needs to be paid!)
i didnt even scratch the surface of aircraft flight/gunning, Command, Base defense/Anti Aircraft, etc etc.
so. damn. fun.

I'm disappointed by how my rig is holding up. 2.53Ghz P4, 512MB ram, 9700 Pro. Maybe I should upgrade my drivers (on 5.5 - 5.6 is better for this?). I'm playing at 1024x768 with medium detail and 2x AA..it just doesn't look as nice as I'd hoped.
Also get "there is a problem with your connection" notices a lot. Even when I play single player I could swear it is laggy :lol Maybe it's just a quirk of the anti-tank gun, but sometimes when running around with it, I can't turn with it immediately, even in single player.

Yeah. Need to get good at this. I wish the team aspect was better but its so much fun as it is. Would be great if did a proper GAF get together. 30+ people if psossible?

Haven't a clue what I'm doing but I'm loving it. Is there anywhere that has more in depth instructions? i'm finding some features a little complicated (eg. how the hell do you get the aircraft moving let alone off the ground?)
It's behaving a little better now, have been able to turn the detail up to high, and I've had fewer connection problems. Looks better Need to do some experimentation now..mostly just been sticking to land vehicles with assault or anti-tank. Some sniping might be nice..
edit - what are the air vehicle controls? I got into a plane, and in classic BF fashion, ran it straight into the side of a mountain before take off. I was running my mouse back furiously trying to gain height (?)

Post a picture of your video settings. Also, did you overclock your video card?

Is there any way of turning on FPS to see how it's running? I mean, it seems to be running as smoothly as it was before on medium..which is to say, it's variable, but it's hard to tell what's lag and what's not.
What settings should I be able to use on my rig?
