No overclock.

Is there any way of turning on FPS to see how it's running? I mean, it seems to be running as smoothly as it was before on medium..which is to say, it's variable, but it's hard to tell what's lag and what's not.

What settings should I be able to use on my rig?

Holy shit! Your anisotropic filtering is at full and the game is running smoothly???? My computer specs are the same as yours except I have Radeon 9800 Pro and I getting bad fps.

What kind of tweaks are you using? What's the cpu?

Oh and if you wanna see the FPS get a program called FRAPS and run it before loading the game.

One other thing: if you want to activate AA, select application preference in the ATI box and 2X on the BF AA setting otherwise it won't work and the game will look jaggy.

First: why 1024 @ 60Hz? 60Hz is very bad for your eyes. If this is on a CRT change it to 85 Hz at least.

Second: get FRAPS. FRAPS displays your fps, captures screenshots and even records your playing to an AVI file.

with my 6800nu I have everything on high besides Texture quality at Medium and it runs very good.

8xaf 2xaa as well.

Cheers, and I've changed to 85hz - didn't know 60hz was bad for your eyes!

I ran through a single player game with my settings as above, and the framerate by and large stayed around 30fps. Low of ~20fps, high of 60fps.

I'll stick on AA now and see how it goes :p I was wondering why everything was so jaggie despite AA being forced through the control panel - thanks for the tip DoomBringer.

edit - I changed to 85hz and monitor actually started making something like a hissing noise! I turned it back to 75hz and the noise is gone..I guess that'll have to do.

How do you use the radio commands? I've been playing for a few hours, and haven't figured it out :lol

I'm really enjoying it, but it really bothers me, when it's like impossible to find someone who's not in a vehicle. A lot of times, I just want to run around and shoot. But that isn't possible when I run into a tank every 5 seconds.

Hey, 75 is ok, I use 100Hz in 800x600, 85 in 1024 and 75 in 1184(?). 60Hz is really hurting your sight, you can almost physically feel it (I do).

I installed the BETA Audigy 2 ZS OpenAL drivers and the game runs with no hangs now, finally Creative releases something good!

please post the link! I have Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS, it will work with this right?

I'm getting choppy sound in voice commands with my Audigy with HW settings enabled. The game sounds amazing in HW mode other than the voice though... I'm almost tempted to turn voice off somehow and play with it that way.

How do you turn off voices because with my pc its choppy in software mode too :(

Just wanted to let you guys know that on server 205.177.13.55 they've unlocked some extra guns (and there is no time limit) :). There are now 2 sets of guns for every class.

I've been playing the holy hell out of the reviewable build and I gotta say, BF2 is the most immersive, team-oriented online shooter I've ever played. I love how the guns feel, how the vehicles handle (if you can't stand flying choppers and jets with a mouse, use the keyboard, it's so much easier), the team command structure (it really gives the game that much needed context, whereas in previous battlefields, I've always felt a little lost), and the gritty aesthetics. The persistent character growth and soldier classes really ups the stakes too for every battle.

With the new commander mode, playing BF2 in the offline bot mode kicks ass. It's like an FPS/RTS with the organic give and take of losing and gaining territories.

I started thinking... Finally, here is a game that kicks Operation Flashpoint in the nuts. It's taken this long.

I'm sure this was posted already, but I'm really tired too look for it in this thread (and the search doesn't like me right now). The game looks like BT1942 for some reason. Everything is low res, no effects, jaggis, models look outdated and the framerate sucks. My PC is a 2.4 GHz, 512MB of ram and a Radeom 9800 pro with 128MB. Is there a way to fix this? If this is how the game is going to be count me out :(

How does this game handle the low-player map restrictions? (I see in some of the screenshots that parts of the map is "red-barred" out.) Just curious to know if there's invisible walls or some sort of physical barrier added in the way, or an allowance to go in those areas, with simply nothing to do there?

You die after a reasonably short period if you stray into those areas for deserting from combat (you get "shot"). Remarkably easy thing to do when flying at high speed (well it happened to me once, not sure if it'll happen as easily again ;)).

AMD 64 3200+, 1gig RAM & a 9800pro.

Works a charm, everything on medium. 1280x960, which ain't my native res, but looks good, and plays awesome.

Pre ordering very very soon.

I just dropped my rez down to 1152x864 with high settings & 2xAA (R9800Pro) defaults only with shadows put on medium. Much smoother at that rez.

Damn you, BF2, for supporting Rad 8500 and not 9200. :-|

a friend of mine just played it on a 9200. in fact 9200 has the same architecture as a 8500

as for the geforce 4 owners, check out the guide i posted a few pages back to get it to work with older geforce cards (gf3 might work too)

Cool, I'll check that out when I get home. Not sure I need the AA, but if it comes at little to no performance hit I'll take it. What cpu are running ?

Pretty much agree across the board. The squad system is probably going to be aped in every mp shooter after this. I was skeptical it was just going to be ignored but by streamlining to groups of 5 or 6 it compels you to stay as a unit and have your teammates back. Increases the incentive to control points on the map 10 fold.

As for flying controls I was able to hookup my PS2 Dual Shock with the SmartJoy adapter (Left stick X/Y axis, Right stick for Z axis)...I swear its made flying so easy in this game. I cant believe how well it works. Controlling the jets practically feels like an Ace Combat knock off, and I was doing belly rolls with the smaller US chopper. :)

I'm looking to play for the better part of this evening now that Family Guy and American Dad are over... are GAFFERs pooling into a particular server?

OMG, you're onto something here.

I have one of those smartjoy adapters too. Time to bust it out!

Tried my XBOX Controller S USB Adapter and it works quite well. I was actually able to stay in the air for minutes at a time, although I still cant shoot anything on the ground. :lol

good thinking. ive been meaning to get a DS2 adapter for the PC. looks like now is the time.

has anyone been using a headset and voice chat in this game yet?

I've got a mic but its useless. All radio and voices in my game are glitchy so i cant make anything out other something cracking- something - cracking sound every time. Its hard to play with sound on for me. :( Hopefully they fix this.

i havent heard any chat actually used in the game yet, but i was getting some serious crackling audio before i changed some settings someone suggested. i went to the options in game, turned the EAX off(i think thats it, some special audio setting the game has, you'll find it), and set the audio setting to Hardware as opposed to Software.

this cleared up my prob. maybe it'll help with mic chat too?

I tried all the variations and they did nothing. Hardware sounds nicer but i still get too many cracking sounds. I hope they fix this as its kinda unbearable right now.

Runs great on my XP 2800+, 1GB of RAM, and 9800 Pro at 1280x960.

The game is phenominal when you're in a good squad with a good leader. Fun stuff.
That's exactly what i have for specs, that's good news...

Coolest moment in pc agming ever...

I was part of a kick ass squad. We get orders to blow the artillery and radar antennas. I was special forces. Talk abou a surgical operation. We were 6, we took a buggie and a boat and head up the river towards the MEC home base. We moved in single file watching the corners and the rear. We caught a few snipers camped in that abandon building. After that we proceeded to c4 the artillery and radar. Mission accomplished...sweeet!

I know, if I recall correctly around 10%-15% of people playing HL2 use a Radeon 9200!! Thats a pretty big group of people. I bet it will be the same for BF2. But I won't be one of them for quite a while :(.

Heh...

Battlefield 2 running on my 9200 :D

It looks like shit though, I should go and play with the graphics settings to find a balance between playability & eye candy.

ATI 9200 users, you have to turn your AGP speed to 4x and it should work.
