No overclock.
Is there any way of turning on FPS to see how it's running? I mean, it seems to be running as smoothly as it was before on medium..which is to say, it's variable, but it's hard to tell what's lag and what's not.
What settings should I be able to use on my rig?

Borys said:First: why 1024 @ 60Hz? 60Hz is very bad for your eyes. If this is on a CRT change it to 85 Hz at least.
Second: get FRAPS. FRAPS displays your fps, captures screenshots and even records your playing to an AVI file.
gofreak said:Cheers, and I've changed to 85hz - didn't know 60hz was bad for your eyes!
I ran through a single player game with my settings as above, and the framerate by and large stayed around 30fps. Low of ~20fps, high of 60fps.
I'll stick on AA now and see how it goesI was wondering why everything was so jaggie despite AA being forced through the control panel - thanks for the tip DoomBringer.
edit - I changed to 85hz and monitor actually started making something like a hissing noise! I turned it back to 75hz and the noise is gone..I guess that'll have to do.
yep, I think it has freezed two times for me.gamepro said:anyone else have this problem

gigapower said:I installed the BETA Audigy 2 ZS OpenAL drivers and the game runs with no hangs now, finally Creative releases something good!
pestul said:I'm getting choppy sound in voice commands with my Audigy with HW settings enabled. The game sounds amazing in HW mode other than the voice though... I'm almost tempted to turn voice off somehow and play with it that way.

Scroll down to find them.
I did not know this but apparently the X-Fi stuff in Battlefield 2 is Creative next-gen APU.

ParkPace said:How does this game handle the low-player map restrictions? (I see in some of the screenshots that parts of the map is "red-barred" out.) Just curious to know if there's invisible walls or some sort of physical barrier added in the way, or an allowance to go in those areas, with simply nothing to do there?
I just dropped my rez down to 1152x864 with high settings & 2xAA (R9800Pro) defaults only with shadows put on medium. Much smoother at that rez.Burger said:AMD 64 3200+, 1gig RAM & a 9800pro.
Works a charm, everything on medium. 1280x960, which ain't my native res, but looks good, and plays awesome.
Pre ordering very very soon.
Matlock said:Damn you, BF2, for supporting Rad 8500 and not 9200. :-|

chespace said:I've been playing the holy hell out of the reviewable build and I gotta say, BF2 is the most immersive, team-oriented online shooter I've ever played. I love how the guns feel, how the vehicles handle (if you can't stand flying choppers and jets with a mouse, use the keyboard, it's so much easier), the team command structure (it really gives the game that much needed context, whereas in previous battlefields, I've always felt a little lost), and the gritty aesthetics. The persistent character growth and soldier classes really ups the stakes too for every battle.
With the new commander mode, playing BF2 in the offline bot mode kicks ass. It's like an FPS/RTS with the organic give and take of losing and gaining territories.
I started thinking... Finally, here is a game that kicks Operation Flashpoint in the nuts. It's taken this long.

I cant believe how well it works. Controlling the jets practically feels like an Ace Combat knock off, and I was doing belly rolls with the smaller US chopper.![]()

Daigoro said:has anyone been using a headset and voice chat in this game yet?
i have mine set up and people have confirmed hearing me speak, but in 14 hrs of play, i have not heard 1 other person utter a word...
Hellllooooo!?
flsh said:I'm sure this was posted already, but I'm really tired too look for it in this thread (and the search doesn't like me right now). The game looks like BT1942 for some reason. Everything is low res, no effects, jaggis, models look outdated and the framerate sucks. My PC is a 2.4 GHz, 512MB of ram and a Radeom 9800 pro with 128MB. Is there a way to fix this? If this is how the game is going to be count me out![]()
Deg said:I've got a mic but its useless. All radio and voices in my game are glitchy so i cant make anything out other something cracking- something - cracking sound every time. Its hard to play with sound on for me.Hopefully they fix this.
Daigoro said:i havent heard any chat actually used in the game yet, but i was getting some serious crackling audio before i changed some settings someone suggested. i went to the options in game, turned the EAX off(i think thats it, some special audio setting the game has, you'll find it), and set the audio setting to Hardware as opposed to Software.
this cleared up my prob. maybe it'll help with mic chat too?

That's exactly what i have for specs, that's good news...Yusaku said:Runs great on my XP 2800+, 1GB of RAM, and 9800 Pro at 1280x960.
The game is phenominal when you're in a good squad with a good leader. Fun stuff.

Firest0rm said:I know, if I recall correctly around 10%-15% of people playing HL2 use a Radeon 9200!! Thats a pretty big group of people. I bet it will be the same for BF2. But I won't be one of them for quite a while.
