i get the same thing.. did you try the drivers that came with BF2 (i cant since i run win64)?
i just ended up turning off dynamic shadows
6800gt, win x64
I didn't try the drivers that came with BF2, but I did try the latest nvidia drivers. No change, so I ended up turning off dynamic shadows. I then switched back to my old 67.03 drivers from Xtreme G, they have been the best I've found.
Anyhow, moving on to actual gameplay impressions-
Game feels smooth, but I did experience some stutter/lag. I don't know if it was server issues or what, but at times it felt a little jumpy. Alltogether, I'm not inclined to say its smoother then Battlefield Vietnam. When its smoother (which is most of the time) it certainly is, but I don't recall the little misteps here and there in Vietnam that I am having with BF2.
That being said, the game is very fluid and looks excellent in motion. One area of performance they did improve upon was the zoomed in sniper rifle. In Vietnam when I zoomed in, my fps would drop severely. Not so in BF2, it stays smooth and fast. Very nice.
Actual gunfights are some of the best I've experienced in the battlefield series. Range of fire seems to play an even bigger role, I sniped the hell out of 4 guys and although they aimed at me the bullets only came close. The use of distance as a straegic weapon is fun, cool and visually impressive.
Sound effects are top notch. Combined with the fluid visuals and gameplay, it really reminds me of the movie "Black Hawk Down".
So, great game. Its still Battlefield, but feels a little more fluid with better graphics, better range in weapons, better sound...ecd. Theres some annoying things like the music continuing to play after you've exited to desktop and the dynamic shadows issue, but aside from that I'm loving it.
