Anyway, it has been a major means of film makers to get enough funding for their projects for decades now. I don't have a problem with it there, I won't have a problem with it in games so long as it's in passing like this. The PS Vita advertising in House of Cards (US), in contrast, was a little much.

Alright, finally fired up 2042 last night and fucks sake man the game is chaos. I'm sure it'll just take time to get used to the flow but the whole thing plays out like the beginning of saving private ryan. Absolute chaos.
It's irritating that I have to join a game in order to test out the control settings (of which there are MANY) so I can dial everything in. I think I'm in a good place now but the helicopter controls are out to lunch, I can't seem to get them to a place that's comfortable to use. I've always been a complete menace into be skies but for now I'm terrible because the controls are so unintuitive. Add in the fact that while I'm messing around with the controls trying to get them right I'm constantly being shot at..

Start up a match against easy bots and hone your controls that way. They are brain dead but still move around and function.
You can join a solo match against bots to familiarize yourself with the controls and mechanics.

For flight controls I turned flight assistance off and set the sticks to Legendary. The default flying controls are terrible. That being said, nothing makes the flying feel as good as BF4 for me.
As others have mentioned, playing against bots is best way to mess around with controls and settings. You can also select what maps you want to play on for bots.

Ah OK never thought about using bots to try things out (thanks to the past three posts for the suggestion).
I haven't been in a jet yet but hopefully I can find a decent control scheme cause previous games I spent a lot of time in the air. Ground support with a jet in 3 and 4 is

Ok I think I've dialed it in. My biggest issue was I wanted thr yaw to be on the left stick. Rolling with the left and yaw with the right always felt so awkward, I couldn't wrap my head around it. Now that I've switched them it felt WAY better. Ok enough messing wound with bots, I think I'm ready to dive in proper now.

I get that there's no scoreboard or end of match scoreboard, but is there any way to look at my own stats? Kills, headsets, assists, vehicle kills etc?

Tried portal last night and there wasn't a single full server? Even then there was only 5 or 6 servers? I hopped into a game that had 30 players and it was great playing some old maps but too bad nothing was full.

You can see your stats in game by pressing Start/Options to bring up the menu. The top squads will be on the left, and your stats will be in the upper right. Below your stats on the bottom is current player count.

Yeah I found that but that's in the middle of the chaos. I don't want to waste time in game looking at that, I meant is there a way to see an overview of your total stats like you could in every other game. All your accumulated ribbons, what level you are, total xp, kills and assists broken down by weapon and vehicles, flags capped etc.
I suspect there isn't a way to view your stats huh...
I'm very divided on this game so far. On the one hand when I'm in the moment in game it's...Battlefield. It's utterly fantastic. All the core hallmarks of a good experience are there and I've been having a blast. This may be a spicy take but the specialists and lack of classes don't really bother me that much. After a few rounds I started appreciating the freedom available. Would I prefer classes like it's always been? For sure, but the specialist system isn't detrimental enough that it ruins the experience. If anything it's just something I had to adapt to.
As for the cornball shit at the end of a match, meh. It's cringe inducing but I'm not so invested in gaming that it'll destroy me. Videogames are typically cringe to begin with, this is no different.

That happened to me for the first time last night. I was prone behind some wall on breakthrough and someone killed me behind it. Likely will get patched as I recall some other BF having an issue like that on a rush map

Why did they remove the bonus xp for when your squad follows orders you've set as squad leader? This game is starting to pics me off a bit not gonna lie here
Edit - so far I've played three maps. That's it. The desert one, the central park looking one, and the docks one. Just those three over and over sith no way to filter maps or anything. Huh.
Edit 2 - on the desert level in a decent squad, I'm setting objectives everything is going well. Match ends, get booted back to tbe main menu (by design of course) and start a new match. I end up in a match on the desert level, of course, and because I'm joining some random game midway through a match I'm no longer squad leader. What is this nonsense.

It's almost like the game is every bit as bad as people say it is.
Yes, they removed a whole lot of experience earning options including damage based exp which was vital for vehicle combat.
They've removed any sort of server browser for the main mode so you have no way of choosing a map to play on, the removal of persistent lobbies also makes it so you can't go through a map rotation.
The game is outright low quality nonsense.
I guess that's why it's in the bargin bins already

I don't think even going free-to-play can save this game. It's dysfunctional at the core. Unless they remake that I don't see it bouncing back. I'm not coming back unless they at minimum get rid of the whole operator system. Though I'm having a blast with BF5. The movement and gunplay is just superior in every way. The spotting system is perfect, AA system is superb too, squad play is awesome, fortification building adds depth, calling in reinforcements and air-strikes can turn a losing game into a win...

The game scratches an itch for me here and there. I think I am like level 65 now. So some thoughts.
The main modes of 128 players are too chaotic. Breakthrough is the far superior mode imo. However the game just feels like you get swarmed by vehicles. Your squad just feels insignificant for the entire time and you are just participating within chaos. There are better ways to balance things out but the game currently sits better than it did at launch. 64 player modes are where it is at so far. Less chaotic and yes your squad can actually impact the game. The boys and I have carried 1 or 2 teams easily in 64 player. It was tough and frustrating but we got the job done. Haven't touched portal since the first couple of weeks of launch. I do like the mode but my friends would rather play the main modes. Hazard zone is a waste of time... within this title. Take that as you may. Also a good nightbird or super hokum pilot will ravage a team.

That's a good way to out it I guess, it "scratches an itch". I'm definitely enjoying it but the downright bizarre or boneheaded decisions are incomprehensible to me. Why does both sides know get one attack jet or helictopter? In a massive map with 128 players? Give each side two at least, older titles with for fewer players and smaller maps did that ffs.
Despite my whining I still find myself having a good time when I fire it up. I actually embrace the chaos, I love it. There's something quintessentially Battlefield about these large scale shit show battles.

On their website it's not that price and an employee for quick lolz could easily make that price tag and snap the picture to get a rise out of people. If the game was truly $4.99 at any store their would be post somewhere telling others, probably even a few websites covering it. A random picture that's hyper zoomed in where you can see nothing but the game is sus.

I think both sides can have two jets or two attack heels as well as two of their choice of Nightbird or Condor/SuperHind. Might be map specific, but I think it's two per map. I much prefer the F35 and Condor to the RU alternatives though. F35 is fun to hover with and switching between plane and heli mode on the Condor is great.

I reached out to a friend who oversees several Gamestops and he said it was a pricing error in their system that was printing out those tags and employees SHOULD have double checked that price and corrected it but obviously some made it to the floor that price
Also said they would likely honor that price but it was ultimately up to the store as it might ring up the real price

Yeah I think it is map specific. I never really noticed until one of my buddies complained about the sheer number of vehicles attackers can get at certain choke points versus the defenders. Yeah I am enjoying the game but there are just some weird and frustrating things that happen in it that should not be occurring or have ever been released. I have this strange bug lately where the game freezes like a bad internet connection but it is too frequent and not happening outside of 2042(I even monitor my connection). This sometimes even happens mid combat which leads to me dying.
The boys and I do have a good time. Especially when we crush an enemy team. Definitely top squad for most of our games. Mostly switch between Boris and Angel. Sundance's smart grenade used to be good(the anti armor) but now that thing is so beyond trash and useless.

Its in trouble now needs to get on GamePass or something to try and prop up the player base.
I know not a great indicator but looked for it on Twitch earlier and 2042 had right at 1k viewers and was behind Chair Simulator, CHAIR SIMULATOR a game in which you watch avatars sit in chairs and earn coins to buy better chairs.
