Battlefield 3: three themed expansion packs announced; 12 million copies

I remember some people saying this since 1942, but a lot of people still wanted to play mods with close quarters maps. Not to mention that the city maps in BF2 were the most popular and they were certainly not about vehicle warfare. The infantry maps in BF3 are horribly designed, but having infantry maps isn't a bad idea in itself.

Seeing the crazy amount of pure infantry servers, DICE does seem to know what their players want. They are giving out two packs for both playstyles. Karkland targetted their classic BF style, and theres a vehicle focused pack coming as well. They seem to be tossing a bone to what alot of the community is playing.

June is way too far out. I feel like I'm gonna have trouble finding anyone playing the maps on PC at that point.

Server numbers for BF3 on PC has held steady since after it's launch, it's still selling very well. Don't see where everyone is going to dissapear to when theres no major FPS release till the fall even.

Well the first part hasn't any choke points, then the 2nd part has 3, 3rd part has 2? Then it opens up again. I dunno, I've never felt a problem with progressing in that map. 360 version btw.

They need to balance the game first, Engies are ridiculously over powered, Its such a chore to play other classes after getting a service-star for the engi, I had fun with every class in BC2 and 2142.
scroll down to get more servers, it only gets a handful at first.
No idea about him, but I stopped mainly due to the lack of interest on local servers. Plus we have some awesome admins that don't even try to ban the cheating folk. Rarely do I have as much fun as spawning and being knifed from a guy across the map.
But awesome game though. I just wish for better server admins, which is not really Dice's responsibility

I was doing that and it wasn't changing much. And what the hell is the point in the sorting options then? I was sorting from highest players to lowest and it only sorts the servers I have scrolled through?
It's hardly a LE. It's basically just a 'first run edition.' And I very much doubt it will be free. Expect to pay the standardized $15/1200pts.

Something else is segmentation, only around 25% of server have B2K, can you imagine the landscape after 3 DLCs...
Yeah, that's how it's been working for me in Chrome. Only recently noticed this.

Change your free slots filtering to only servers with a few open spots, it finds you the busier servers, your currently pretty much searching through all the servers so you get a bunch of empty servers.
Yea the scrolling down thing is annoying, they should allow you to preset how many servers to look up instead of having to manually do it.

If you can't rape with assault or support, you're playing wrong.
Look forward to see if they are new maps or re-purposed older maps. More Infantry stuff is fine with me (even if it does seem they are more aimed at TDM players) but the Vehicle stuff is where the real meat of Battlefield is. Though the idea of the biggest BF map in history will be pretty empty on the console version with only 24 players.

I didnt say I cant rape with those clases (though i can play better with support than assault), i just said its a chore, its just not fun.

Everything sounds OK... But I've learned to be patient with BF3 since we've been waiting for a patch that addresses a lot of issues since October.
New Vehicles, maps and weapons will mean even more balancing down the road.
On console, they are already too big. Oman is a beatdown on Xbox.

Well seeing as one pack is called Close Quarters, I doubt that. The armored map pack says its going to have the big maps

Sounds like they realized that people like different aspects of the game and are separating those into their own expansions.

Sounds good, but why can't Armored Kill come out before Close Quarters?
The reason why I and a lot of other people play Battlefield is for the large maps with tons of vehicles.
And the spacing between these packs is sooo long. I'm gonna be burnt out on Battlefield when the Fall arrives, not to mention Halo 4 will be out around that time. :/

I know, right! Also, they need to add a parachuting section for the attackers.
I wonder if the CQC maps will be much smaller scale but have way more destruction going on?

Most likely vehicles require a lot more testing/balancing than infantry, along with larger maps.
Filter by free slots.

Well, if you want more BF3, why would you not be interested? I agree on the larger map front. It will be empty on consoles.
I also hope the Infantry stuff is not just TDM. Would be interesting to have a conquest mode on a smaller map that is way more vertical. Like on rooftops etc.
