Too bad they stopped selling after only one day

Sure but the game made between $15m-$25m in a day (plus whatever Game Pass gave them), and it's not like it's getting delisted today or anything. They'll easily recover their cost and then some.

congrats to sandfall. had to pass, but add an option to automate the parry/dodge stuff & i'll be back...

If I'm not mistaken, there is some sort of option in the settings to help with this. Not 100% sure.

Regardless, it's a big part of what makes the game fun for me IMHO. Dodging and parrying in this game feels insanely satisfying and rewarding. It's not too hard to pull of once you get used to it, but if it is a problem, just put the difficulty on story mode and enjoy the awesome story.

i may just eventually do that...

Man sony fanboys must be confused. A game pass game selling well. IconEra is tripping balls now lmao. Good for them. The game is great, though i admit, its def not for everyone
why would sony fanboys be confused for the game selling well ? part of these sales were made on ps5.

The combat system of the game looks pretty mid.
Thats what I thought aswell. I was worried about the combat, but then I played it, its top tier as fuck and keeps getting better the further I go. Really it could be pretty revolutionary for turn based rpgs. It feels like sekrio mixed with the best of games like metaphor and older final fantasy, but with its own special additions.

Why? The parry and dodging is SO MUCH FUN here.
y'know, I swear i've heard this regarding another game... sekiro, maybe?...

i just finished playing/loving stellar blade. i'm willing to parry/dodge to an extent, obviously. but, had final fantasy x had a parry/dodge mechanic? i enjoy turn-based rpgs to a great extent as a break from twitch-based mechanics...

well, you can choose to automate your attack qte stuff, & that doesn't seem to break anything...
QTE for your attacks don't have same impact as parry and dodging. Parry completely negates the attack does powerful counter.

Unlike other RPGs the agility states are not for evasion chance this time around since you can basically evade almost all attacks as long as you timed dodge right.

If they automate dodge and parry then you will never die and basically breaks the game.

I find it contradictory the game is turn based but have a huge emphasis on real time parry/dodge.

With Expedition 33 parry and dodging it part of its core combat here and in my opinion it's pretty fun.

With that being said do I want every turn based RPG to have parry and dodging? Absolutely not.

I get it, and I'm glad the game does this and I will definitely be playing on the hardest difficulty. But still, this game seems to offer an interesting world and story that I think should not be gated off to those that want to enjoy just that. It seems there are good options in place though to enjoy it at whatever skill level an individual desires.

Looks like even the standard physical PS5 edition of the game is selling out. I'm trying to buy a copy and Walmart and Best Buy are both sold out. My only options are Gamestop online (none in my local stores), and Amazon. Amazon delivery is delayed to between May 5th - 9th.

Talk about first world problems for the devs I guess. Must feel good.

Why i would buy a game if is available on Gamepass? Maybe for the second run i going to buy it, to support the devs. But not everybody is going to do the same…
Most people on Xbox don't have Game Pass. I know I don't, so I am also one that purchased it on Xbox.

I mean, in a sense, even fights in sekrio can be very much" I'll wait for the enemy to attack, dodge/parry/jump based on the visual/audio cue, and then attack. "

It works when u play. it feels engrossing and quite satisfying. I wasn't 100% sold in the tutorial, but after the prologue it clicks. and after that it gets even better.

I preordered when all the reviews dropped. Hoping to start it tomorrow. Regardless, glad to see a new developer and IP crush it like this. To put it in perspective FFXVI sold 3 mil its first week before sales fell off a cliff. I think it's around 4 mil at this point.

Yea they should also add a button that automatically just kills all enemies. Then after that they can patch in a movie mode where you just watch the cut scenes and don't even play the game.

You know that you are playing an rpg right? :D
Yup. But too many pointless interruptions. Cut scenes where nothing happens other than banal back and forth. And it has the annoying habit of a cutscene, 10 seconds of movement and then another cutscene.

Good thing, that's not the game we're discussing.

this one is going to have a long tail..

a lot of people probably delayed buying due to Oblivion (and the many other great games we have out this quarter) myself included

Very well deserved. If only they had more faith and would've not released it on a sub service sales may have been even higher. Oh well, live and learn! Here's hoping they reach that million dollar mark within a week. Strange to contrast sales of this game to Indiana Jones... A well known ip vs a new single player RPG.

GP is the only reason to have an Xbox right now…
Obviously. I'm waiting for a console sale to get one for my son with game pass (missed the one last fall here). He'll be able to play online and have some free games while I'll be able to take back my ps5 for fuck's sake.

Can you name another good reason? 🧐 Paying full price for a first party microsoft game make no sense for me with the game pass available…
Millions prefer to buy games and have them in their library of games and not be tied to a subscription. I buy my games, I buy my movies. I don't rent movies, I don't subscribe to Netflix, MAX, etc.

I am glad their are subscriptions out there for those that it appeals to. But millions want nothing to do with them. The only reason I have Game Pass Core and PS Essentials is for the online access.

I only buy a game if i want to support the devs because the quality of the game… but buying all the first party games on Xbox when only i have to pay 9 dollars to have access to then make no sense to me… Especially for games that i am going to play one time. The gamepass is the only reason that i have to keep my Series X. I avoid to pay full price on the PlayStation eco system.
