What the effing eff, this is crazy. Can't believe no one manages to shove a SRAW rocket in his ass flying this low and boxed in like that.

Well, actually they probably do, he just doesn't show that, but I've noticed way too many times people whining about a particular vehicle but no one actually switching to engineer to try and take it down.

Sabotage is the best thing they introduced to BF4. All the maps play extremely well on it. Even Operation Metro 1.5, which was shocking. I kinda have fun on that map in that mode. Whereas it's terrible in Rush AND Conquest.

Defuse/S&D is just poorly thought out in BF4. I want to like that mode (since I put a lot of time into it in CoD4, believe it or not), but BF's dynamics don't really work for it.

I don't know if this is a ps3 issue or not but I hope someone has an answer. Will they ever fix the support field upgrade final two options not unlocking?

I have them unlocked but they are greyed out.

Haven't heard of that, i have them unlocked on Ps4 and PC.
 
I decided to play some conquest because I was bored with rush and holy shit, every complaint I've heard still started to make sense again. I haven't touched it since the first few weeks yet it feels hardly improved;It's still a laggy, rubberbanding mess. Hit detection is terrible and It feels like I'm constantly being sniped at. Honestly, conquest feels like it's 50% recon, 30% vehicles, and 20% other. I am not coming back to this mode.

Only lucky in not getting RPG/Tanked or non-repaired (he was 20 or so for most of that flying). Once you adjust to reversing and going through the obstacles I'm sure it's possible to wreck havoc there even if some tries to switch to RPG-7's and lining you up quickly to hit you with the rocket while you minigun them to death.

While his flying is impressive, that video just tells me the other team was full of shitty engineers. A guy flying like that in buildings is so easy to take out with the RPG.

Well that and flying with a keyboard and mouse is wonky and I don't leave my DS3 plugged in for air vehicles.

Crazy talk, keyboard and mouse is the only way to fly! And that's coming from someone who have been a console player my whole life up until 2011 when I built my first gaming PC for BF3. I was one of those people who crashed the chopper 10 seconds after taking off at first, but I kept at it. I tried to use a controller, but that just felt so wrong after learning it on keyboard.

I imagine spotting and reviving just kill it dead. Will likely be much more suited to hardcore.

DMR buffs in this patch, too.

They still feel like shit. You're always going to get dominated by assault rifles at any range :/

For the five minutes or so I was in a TDM round, I saw that the chat colors are changed now. Opposing team is red in chat now

Mantle Support
The new Mantle renderer has been added in Battlefield 4. Most players can expect a performance increase by using this new low-level graphics API. Check out this news post [battlelog.battlefield.com] for the full details on Mantle, what the requirements are to run it, and how to enable it.

CPU/GPU performance and monitoring
-Tweaked and improved CPU multi-core utilization to try and avoid stuttering and low framerate due to stalls that happened on some CPU and OS configurations.
-Users can now configure and control themselves how many CPU cores should be used in the game with the new “Thread.MaxProcessorCount” settings in User.cfg.
-“Render.DrawScreenInfo 1” now also shows information about which CPU and GPU is in the system, how many GPUs & CPU cores are used and which renderer (DirectX 11 or Mantle) is active
-Added new “PerfOverlay.FrameFileLogEnable” command that records frame times on CPU & GPU and logs out to a .csv file
-AMD Catalyst driver 13.12 (or later) is now recommended instead of 13.9
-Enabled tile-based compute shader lighting optimization on Nvidia for improved GPU performance (already active on AMD GPUs)
-Improved performance with rendering and spotlights for all GPUs, primarily in in-door environments


DMR Balance Tweaks
-Increased the damage of all DMRs across all ranges. Specifically, damage has been increased at long ranges to allow three-hit kills against unarmored opponents. Additionally, reduced the penalty to accuracy for sustained DMR fire, allowing more rapid follow up shots in combat. The amount of the damage increase varies from weapon to weapon, according to its intended range, rate of fire, and damage. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of DMRs in combat, and determine if additional action is needed to make DMRs a viable mid to long range weapon.

Other Items
-Significantly reduced the duration of the black screen when spawning in, and fixed the issue with players getting killed before being in-game
-Greatly reduced the risk of crosshairs disappearing, which would also result in hit markers disappearing
-Added a headshot icon on the killcard. This should help identify instances where players are correctly killed by one shot
-Fixed an issue in Squad Deathmatch where the “Win/Lose” text was overlapping
-Fixed an issue with players using an exploit for the SOFLAM
-Fixed an issue with players using an exploit for the MAV
-Fixed the gameplay code to properly track the FOV (Field of View) changes in the options menu
-Fixed an issue where chat would break when entering "false" or "true" in the chat window
-Fixed an out-of-helicopter glitch in Air Superiority where players could spawn on the ground and play as infantry
-Fixed the misaligned crosshairs on the T90 MBT
-Added setting to tweak joystick dead zone
-Various minor crash fixes

I just did some quick testing, but my performance definitely feels a bit better. So that Nvidia fix they added seems to work.

Has the crashing and connection problems been fixed for this on ps4 yet? I'm gonna pick a ps4 up tomorrow along with Tomb Raider and also wanted a multiplayer game, but if its still broken I wont bother. Good to go?

It's not 100 percent fixed.

But it is substantialy better.

I had a crash happen in mp two days ago, the last before that was before christmas.

Funny that DICE Is addressing the CPU cores issue, cause yesterday I downloaded the tool from the PC performance thread which allows you to unpark your CPU cores via registry editing. Wonder if the patch will make any difference.

Ok thanks, that sounds acceptable enough to me!

Man most ps4 games are still £50 here in the UK, some are £55! Thats about $90, what a piss take. They arent doing a very good job of encouraging people to buy new copies over preowned...

Has there actually been an official word on Second Assault for PC and PS4 besides that article from some random website?
I dont think so (And i havent read that random website) but with the whole Player Appreciation month and now a patch labeled as "Preparation for 2nd Assault" im gonna guess it will release soon.

Holy shit, these maps are so much better than BF3's maps it's absurd.
For real, like not even close. They definitely learn from BF3.

ugh still getting random input lag for my mouse and keyboard. I tried turning off V Sync and AA, but it still didn't fix it :/

Called that we were getting this patch :D was only a day off:p

Will probably be getting the second assault assignments/camos etc.
 
So, I realize people are going to say its missing the point (and they're right) but given the map design is so non-conducive to infantry focused non-engineer play, someone found they had a few infantry only servers in rotation so I tried it out.

Almost completely unplayable. They don't give you any quads or jetskis so on a map like floodzone you have to literally swim around. I can't even imagine trying to play Paracel or Golmud.

Question about expansion DLC -

Are all expansions handled the way they've handled China Rising? i.e. if you want to play China Rising maps you're stuck only playing China Rising maps in that rotation.

I'd like to have an option of having standard, China, Second Assault, and "ALL" in the rotations. I want to play some China Rising maps but I don't want to keep repeating the same 4 levels; I want to play the Second Assault maps but I don't want to be stuck switching between Second Assault and the rest. etc. etc.
