Battlefield 4 PC performance thread

windows 7 64bit
i5-2500k OC'd
hd 6950 unlocked to 6970 and OC'd to 6970 speed

1080p, 2xMSaa, medium everything, low post processing and HBSAO (the lower one)

runs as well as bf3 with high/ultra settings...game looks good =) I'm happy, don't need everything maxed out.

is that a radeon 6950 2GB?

Ive got a 2GB 6970 @ 925/1425 on a i7-920 @ 3.8 on win 7/64
Will hopefully get my copy tonight from a friend. What fps are u getting ?

Do driver updates over time tend to improve performance much?

I had that issue in the Beta. The fix was to download the latest Punkbuster or whatever it is called version. Once I did that the issue went away. I forgot to pre-download, so am downloading now so not sure if the issue will persist in the real game for me.

I'm gonna be playing this on a Quadro K4000 (work), 12GB ram, i7 950 @ 4GHz.

Would be keen to hear impressions from lower-end cards (GTX-650?).

Is anyone else getting a weird flashing colors issue? I just ran it for the first time and fps is good but all the textures are flashing like mad. Pretty sure its not a problem on my end because all my other games work just fine.

Specs:

i5-4670k
Gtx 760
8 GB ram

Is the game jittery for anyone else?

My FPS is fine, but the game seems to have an inherent jitter associated with motion. Character animations are jerky, camera movements are jittery, and the cutscenes are choppy.

I can only play the game for so long before my eyes get sore and I get a headache.

I had the same problem with Bf3 and using MSI Afterburner resolved the issue, but as BF4 has a 64 bit exe I no longer have that luxury.

Not just you. I'm getting stuttering performances. FPS looks fine but when I move my mouse it isn't smooth like other games, even BF3. This is with the latest Nvidia driver.

Need Help. Whenever I try to launch the game in MP or Single it keeps telling be to download the plug in. I do this and it still gives me the same message over and over. I verified that the punkbuster software is up to date.

Any help??

I5-2400 @ 3.9Ghz
Radeon 6770 1GB @ 950 Mhz
8GB DDR3 @ 1600Mhz

This is the BEST I could get my image quality @ 900p , 1600x900

Got about 25fps. Ultra everything, 4xMSAA, HBAO, etc.

fEaW1m0.png

Got X1 style 35-60fps when I turned off AA

Oh and lemme say, my god this game is ugly even on my 900p monitor when I drop it to 720p. Even on Ultra 720p with HBAO it is ugly. I cannot imagine what the X1 version will look like live on a big screen HDTV @ 720p with no AA, no AO, etc.

I managed to play the beginning, mostly 60 but when big fights happened it dipped to 40.

Core i 5 3570K - stock clocks.
7970 Ghz Ed
8GB Ram

Everything on ULTRA, 2x AA and Vsync on.

EDIT.

Whats the difference between the 32 bit and the 64 bit ver of the game?

Yeah man, 720p is god awful no matter which way you slice it. We should lock Dennis in a room with a 720p only setup for a day or two and see what state his brain is in afterwards.

Did the 667 mb update for the deluxe version and my frame rate is sitting at 95 - 115 fps at 2560 x 1440 on sli 780 gtx overclocked. Thanks for pushing that patch EA.

man, I getting pretty jammed up with lag in every server I join. I was going to skip SP, but I may have to give it a try for a little

*edit - whoops, wrong thread

Sorry if this is a dumb question. But does MSI Afterburner not work with this game? I think I read because it's a 64bit it's not supported. If that's true, what are you guys using to see FPS/GPU Temp?

Whoa, this was worth it. To anybody who is experiencing stuttering and you don't think it's due to your hardware, I would echo recommendations to install Windows 8. Last night it was pretty much unplayable for me, even on the lowest settings. I wasn't really enthusiastic about upgrading my OS right now, but after installing Windows 8 it runs smooth as butter on high settings in MP and never drops below 70 FPS.

And I've only got 4 GB of RAM, so hopefully after I upgrade that I'll be able to run it on ultra.

64 bit runs better by using more ram/cpu

I read somewhere that Battlefield 4 should run faster on Windows 8(.1). I bought the OEM version of 8.1 off of Newegg and installed it yesterday in anticipation for the game.

Sorry. Forgot to mention Afterburner doesn't support 64bit games. Hopefully they will add support for it soon.

You should definitely see an improvement with Win 8. I wasn't anticipating the improvement to be as dramatic as it was, but it has basically fixed all of my issues. I'm still not that crazy about this OS, but I think I'll learn to like it once I learn it.

I can't get EVGA Precision X to work either (the OSD). It's only with BF 4. I assume that Precision X also uses RivaTuner. I just can not get it to work this game lol

EDIT: I guess I should have just asked. Does any form of OSD work on this game? I've only gotten FRAP to work.

Classic Shell

Install that. :) That fixes 99% of the issues I have with Windows 8.

Here is a sample of multiplayer playing on my rig. Even with the YouTube compression it looks pretty good. Rig specs below

yep it's the 2gb card....and I'm getting about the same frame rate as I did with BF3...I never bothered checking actual numbers with either game though. it ran smooth and was easy on the eyes. Def more than 30fps.
