Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

The more I play the beta the more disappointed I feel. Every map on every mode is basically the same. You spawn and run forward a few feet to a chokepoint where 90% of the fighting on the entire map happens, maybe shoot some people, maybe die first or after shooting said people, then respawn and repeat it all over again. Im level 18 and most of my time with the game is a blur of that same experience. There is no semblance of pacing, strategy, or tactics. Many of the class gadgets and vehicles feel irrelevant and take a backseat to the dopamine hit of just running forward and shooting something. Maybe thats what people who come from CoD enjoy the most but just that in and of itself is not what I come to BF for. I think im going to downgrade my phantom edition pre-order because right now the core gameplay is shallow enough that I just don't see myself sticking to it long enough to justify the $100.

A lot of this can be fixed with proper map design but by now i've seen enough to know what EA and DICE's design philosophy is so I don't expect that to change much with the full game's maps.

I've yet to play this weekend but it sounds like this game desperately needs maps like Grand Bazaar and Caspian Border (really hope they add this post-launch).

Not a fan of the color palette. Tan and brown. Makes it very hard to see enemy players. A complete 180 from the very colorful 2042 and V.

The shotgun needs to get in the bin. I've never raged in all my years playing Battlefield but for the first time today I shouted 'fucking cunt' at the monitor :messenger_grinning_sweat: It's so irritating.

This new map is small, no denying it. And 12v12 is not where battlefield is at (although I remember that being the console max in the Bad Company 2 days - that could be super lonely when half your team were in air vehicles).

But we know there are big maps at release, and big maps coming in future seasons.

So the moaning about new maps being too small is a little OTT. When the game is released, you will be able to ignore them at will.

Personally, I'll be dipping my toes in it all because when all is said in done, even the small maps are infinitely more tactical than anything COD can offer.

They need to move the final B mcom on Iberian Offensive. It is actually impossible to take because the defending teams hq is directly behind it. I mean less than a 5 second sprint between spawn and the mcom. We wiped the whole team and still couldn't take it.

Holy fucking shit what's up with the size of empire state map , it's like a domination size map of call of duty.
I seriously thought I searched wrong game mode on custom search
I forgot most of the map names of bf4 and 3 but all the rest of the maps need to be big like.
This for now feels like call of duty domination with 2 extra capture points

We need tanks , jets big capture points the proper feel of a battlefield.

yeah this is why i wanted it slowed down a little. i get tired of the spawn, sprint, die gameplay loop.

Yea honestly they should have added a giant map, the new map is just not battlefield.

Definitely enjoying the game compared to the last couple CODs. Likely going to buy day 1. Just debating on whether to go Ps5 Pro or PC.

Tearing is odd on the Pro. Devs forget to turn on VRR?

I tried it but this isn't for me...
Getting shot from behind constantly is just no fun and way to aggravating...
It's takes practice and instict will improve. Always be aware not just of your 12 o'clock but also of your 9 o'clock, 3, o'clock, and 6 o'clock.

Compare to this!

Played it last night and thought it was really good. Looked and ran great on PS5 Pro as well.

I can see the complaints with the NY map but the other ones seemed fine to me. It felt like BF. I am not sure I will pick this up day one but I haven't felt this optimistic about a BF since #3.

I actually am scared now I thought , empire state would be a huge map like seige of Shanghai in bf4 .
It's literally the size of a capture points in seige of Shanghai and that's fucking disappointing.
all the rest of 5 maps should be big maps now

Also all the streamers saying it'll be a fan favourite.........nah its dog shit. Cairo even tho small has atmosphere and it memorable and this is just straight CoD trash, it's barely a domination map

There are 9 launch maps. From the descriptions 5 are small, 4 are big.

I think EA is smart to build maps that would make COD fans more comfortable. With COD being in the state it is it's a great time to peel off players. Some maps that are sort of halfway between the two games is fine.

I also think BF fans need to not be nerds and purists about this because that's a dead end especially when the game delivers on many different elements

I tend to like a field in my battlefield, not a corridor 👍

The game is solid but uninteresting. It's the safe comeback album after a string of bad releases. To some extent it restores my confidence in the series, but it just feels like the game I played years ago albeit a bit prettier. I struggle to find a single original idea in the game and frankly may as well just go back to Battlefield 4.

Is there something to turn on so that soldiers scream ? I feel like the atmosphere is dead besides explosions.

Slow down and be a little more tactical

This beta is pretty easy to rip off massive kill games holding choke points and let the enemy come to you
some games I feel like I am rambo and some games I get pwned. but Its not a call of duty where you start running as soon as u spawn and slide and shoot. with that being said, the shooting feels like call of duty a little and I love that.

Yeah it's a super safe entry. I feel they missed out on drones though. In Ukraine it is a huge part of warfare, and BF6 seems more like mid-2000s warfare.

Which game modes will earn you the "Capture the Flag" challenge?

edit: nevermind, it says at the title - Conquest, Breakthrough, Domination

I wish there were more vehicle maps.

The shotgun house on Iberia map domination C is too much fun. I agree it should get nerfed tho. The rate of fire is the biggest issue

I'm finding this game impossible. I must be very bad. I die 1000 times and sometimes I manage to kill someone.
Ho boy, I miss BF 1943... the simplicity of the maps made that game.
This maps are so complex and detailed that I can't spot a single player...

I've said it before and I can repeat that I'm enjoying the beta. I had a chance to play 2 rounds yesterday on the new map and I found it OK. Wouldn't be a map I would usually play when having other options but I didn't find it terrible.

The Reddit community is very polarized about it but I also think that the BF community in particular is conditioned to hate on new releases at the beginning and then idealize the older games once a new game comes out. I've been around enough to remember the hate on BF3 because it wasn't like BF2 and it was "downgraded" to be released on consoles. I remember people not liking BF4 because they had a terrible launch. Of course I remember all the shit around BF1 and having black characters, being WW2, having crappy weapons and basically the only worthwhile thing being the atmosphere. All the controversy on BFV for their attempted inclusive approach, their phrosthetic arms and women in the battlefield plus many other gamplay criticisms and obviously I remember 2042 and all the shit it got for not having a traditional scoreboard and having terrible maps, horrible performance and bugs.

2042 didn't do very well sales wise and a lot of the criticisms came from having heroes and maps that had a lot of negative space. I feel EA is responding to that feedback and going by Beta numbers is working very well. I'm a member of the BF community but I applaud EA for trying a different approach and hopefully they don't make stupid changes by following what the community thinks it wants. BF6 should have it's own identity.

Fanchises must change to stay relevant. If the old hardcore community wasn't supporting BF anymore (for real or imaginary reasons) it wouldn't make sense for EA to continue seeking that market. We need to learn that shit is not always made for us, things evolve or change and we might be left behind sometimes. If we are part of an interesting market segment then someone will make a game that catters to our taste. If not, then it won't happen. It's a fucking business.

Is there a simple TEAM DEATHMATCH in this game? A mode where most kills wins? Only objective is to rack up kills????

if not whats the closest thing to it?

There is Team Deathmatch.

Kills in Conquest take away tickets from the enemy team. Kills in Breakthrough as Defender take away Attacker tickets.
