Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

Yeah kind of weird that it will have zero vehicles?

King of the Hill was already very meh during the first beta weekend because at that point I'd rather just play CoD.
I hope they don't do the boring thing these companies do and half ass copy the competition's trends. Ground war was soulless bullshit and the COD teams just aren't very good at vehicles or vehicle combat, Ground War sucked complete ass (Compared to something like BF4) and I hope BF6 doesn't spur them on to try that again, it absolutely is not their strong suite, lol. COD devs are thoroughbred to make COD, they should stick to that or else it's awkward and weird.

Abandoning DMZ was perplexing, though, they actually had a better grip on copying Tarkov than BF, honestly. Maybe someone high up in COD decided to back off the heavy trend copying because they lacked confidence outside their core competencies, who knows.

I didn't do all the challenges, just the ones for things that are worth unlocking. Levelling up feels empty when you know your rank will be reset at launch.

Also really missing camo challenges, I hope there's some cool ones for weapon mastery.

Jesus, go make a thread about this cat thing, fucking dull now

COD or BF style leveling in general feel empty to me now. I think the last time I was genuinely pleased with that type of progression was Titanfall 1. Where most of the challenges were tuned pretty well and taught you novel aspects of the game. And the prestige system played into it nicely.

I don't want to descend into whatever the equivalent Operation Metro/Locker salt mine is in this game just to grind out guns enough to grant unlocks that allow me to play the actual game.

For that matter the vehicles are usually rough on this point too... whoops you didn't hop on the jets or helos in the first week? Well now every pilot you're up against has better countermeasures and an anti-air loadout and you've got... your gun I guess, have fun!

It's never got old for me in 15 years. Whenever I'm on a modded client where there's an unlock all I never use it because I lose interest without having a goal.

I needed my BF fix after the Beta ended, so I downloaded BF1 after not playing it since 2017. The game still looks good, and there is so much less HUD clutter on the screen compared to BF6... There is also plenty of destruction, and weather changes during a match is something they should bring back in 6.

BF1 is pure cinema, simple as that

Well, it's a discussion board. I like discussing. And disagreement is generally more engaging than +1ing everything Kumbaya style. It's nice to occasionally convert someone into agreeing with you, but admittedly that's pretty rare online. But maybe that's just me.
As do I actually enjoy discussions until it turns to name calling from arrogant condescending people (not you btw)

I would prefer we got back to talking about the beta as this topic has grown out of control and could almost be its own thread at this point :)

Did anyone have luck getting into the Conquest mode that was stricter with the classes? Every time I tried, there were never enough people to launch a match.

Professional player and vehement anti cheating slagger-offer Enders has also chimed in to, with CSI YouTube level analysis, deconstruct and defend the ladyboy accused of cheating (by Playstation pedestrians) the other day.

He knows what he's talking about.

I never tried but a friend of mine said wait times were for sure longer for the closed weapons lists

Not sure if that means fewer people were playing it or those servers were that full

tbf i slowed the footage down to 25%, and most of the shots you can see the over/under flicking.

and at this point i dont give a fuck, either way, cheating is everywhere, ill just stay in my lane and have fun with my squad

I wish they kept the animation for entering vehicles and the deploy screen.

I had no issue.

I will note that it was a lot sweatier though. It was filled with all the Battlefield OGs who preferred locked classes. Legit everyone was a good player lmao

"Wow I flicked straight at that guy through the wall… oooopsie"

His words, not my.

Had anyone discussed that catgirl cheating yet? Can't see a thread?

No. Can you reminds us what about the catgirl man?

Maybe you can make the OT.

Heli physics need work. It's crazy that they had BF3/BF4 etc as a reference and can't get it in a good spot.
Yeah they feel like shit to fly. BF4 had it down perfect.

I get the feeling they are neutering the aerial combat since most people don't understand how to deal with the threat despite having tools at their disposal. Even in 4 all it really takes is about 3 players paying enough attention and equipped properly to completely wreck most air vehicles swiftly. Hell, even just one person can really disrupt pilots enough where they are forced to flee and keep their distance.

I even see some comments in this thread that some people just want an alternative to CoD and not actually a Battlefield game. Kindly I wish those people would just fuck off. You want smooth brain TDM because the thought of an actual challenge in a game and having to think about more than one strategy is just too much, then stick with your CoD. The influence of that game has only ruined this franchise and every time you get the same clowns saying they want to switch, they never stick with it and end up going back to their safe place.

Well that turned into a bit of a rant... oh well.

Gaf bots in shambles.

And as an aside, he had no problem calling out another member of teamexe not long ago. Shimmy or some other.

Even if he's not cheating this dude-pretending-to-be-a-cat-lady should still be banned for being such an adderall infused ADD sweat in public lobbies lol.

Infantry only map huh... fucking lame.

Even when I played BF4 there was an infantry only map. It was just a straight tunnel between both teams that had out and upper\lower levels. It was pretty fun actually and a nice break from all the vehicle action.

To me BF is at it's best with proper maps. If they don't get that right it wont be fun. I hated 2042 because of the maps mostly. I only got to try one map this weekend but I loved it.

EDIT: In portal. :/

What does in portal mean?

Portal is something they started in 2042. It's actually pretty cool. They give you access to maps/weapons from older games and host servers for people to join. 2042 has a Bad Company 2 dedicated server mode in Portal right now, for example.

I hope Portal goes crazy much like Fortnite Creative

Give me all kinds of crazy games and modes.

Only Up mode racing other people but everyone has sniper rifles to knock each other off, just stupid shit :)

Why is it a big deal that the server browser needs to exist outside of portal? To my understanding, you will be able to make your own server via portal however you'd like with map rotations, rules, and gameplay tweaks as well as get normal xp. I suppose the only thing I can think of is it benefits the latency of people who are far away geographically.

Also I believe they said the server browser will exist on the main page, and just use portal on the backend. Will need to see how this works in practice, but it's a step in the right direction. It seem some in this community will never be satisfied or they just like to complain about everything.

I miss the old battlelog with it's server browser where you could start a BF3/BF4 game from within your web browser and it's layout was fantastic.

Someone suggested an interesting compromise in that Reddit post, put some official Dice servers in the Portal server browser. If they have an easy way to filter servers then I could live with that.

Yeah I was watching Tim trying to use the shotties and he wasn't having a lot of luck early on either :)

On the Iberian offensive map, Domination. I think it was B (the middle point) you could lie at the top of the stairs inside with the shotty and just delete anyone who dared walk in.

Much amusement ensued.

Not watching it, but how did he defended that catdude shooting two people by the bus, when they were completely invisible in the smoke ?

As someone who banned 100's losers from his bf server throughout the years, once you get in the grove, you spot cheaters so effortlessly. [spoiler, if someone is dominating, but has zero concept of the most basic nuances of fps games like using cover, checking around corners in an fps, they're cheating] I might have been wrong only twice in hundreds of cases. [didn't check on those later on] Dice sometimes used to take weeks to ban the most obvious cheaters, it's used to be that bad. Maybe it improved. Twitch gives a slap on the wrist and only asks to remove cheating videos instead of banning outright. [like in this case]
