Battlefield 6 Beta |OT| Open Beta/Closed Weapons.

Been playing BF4 the last few nights and man I wish they just updated that with some modern QoL stuff. Such a good lot of fun.

Not watching it, but how did he defended that catdude shooting two people by the bus, when they were completely invisible in the smoke ?

As someone who banned 100's losers from his bf server throughout the years, once you get in the grove, you spot cheaters so effortlessly. [spoiler, if someone is dominating, but has zero concept of the most basic nuances of fps games like using cover, checking around corners in an fps, they're cheating] I might have been wrong only twice in hundreds of cases. [didn't check on those later on] Dice sometimes used to take weeks to ban the most obvious cheaters, it's used to be that bad. Maybe it improved. Twitch gives a slap on the wrist and only asks to remove cheating videos instead of banning outright. [like in this case]
Oh look, an actual badmin

Imagine defending a cheater that think is a catgirl...

Can't even believe how bad this conversation end up.

Imagine being so bad that you think they're cheating to begin with.

It really does appear that you're not just irrationally upset that this person has made you feel inadequate with your manly FPS skills being comparable to an actual beginner bot, but that it's a furry vtuber trans dude thats done it.

No, same build as weekend 1 just 1 more map and new modes

Changes potentially coming.

I wasn't gaming much when Battlefield 3 and 4 came out, so I never got into the series. Really enjoyed the beta last weekend. Jumped into 2042 the past couple days. Game ain't bad. I remember highly disliking the beta back in 2021, but it seems to play a lot better? It is nowhere near as dynamic and cinematic as 6 beta, but will certainly be in my multiplayer rotation until launch. Gonna check out V and 1 as well

Really hope the developers start acknowledging some of our concerns and criticisms more. This game has the potential to be so damn epic. Some things I'm really hoping they change are decreased player counts for the smaller maps, re-adjusted spotting mechanic, more HUD customization options, and an increased focus on larger maps going forward. Seems like these requests are pretty universal among the community. Also hoping this weekend's beta is much more on point in terms of performance and server stability.
Expect a hefty blog about the beta after its finished. BF labs is starting back up afterwards as well.

So significantly slower than BF3 even though people think that was a much more tactical and slow entry compared to BF6 lol.

Personally think BF6 is fine in terms of movement and overall speed btw.
Same I think its spot on.

Someone posted in the reddit thread I got that image from that because the FOV can be wider on consoles than in the past it feels faster but as you can see it's actually slower. Makes sense.

I hope they don't nerf shotties into the ground, and make em worthless like many games do. When smg's and rifles are as good as they are, shotties better be strong af to be worth running.

Read this morning that EA stock is at all time high. I think this guarantees this won't be the last we see of beta play before release. 2 months is a long time and you want to keep momentum. Keeping testing behind BF Labs is not the way to do this either. Open it up, have some open beta weekends between the end of the beta and release, with enhancements based on community feedback—like testing the server browser and tweaking the heli controls. This is the best way to show they are listening to the community and improving the game all the way up to release.

I agree, I think they'll have one or two more open beta weekends before launch to maintain the hype.

The game could come out now if it was ready.

Played the beta over the weekend, looked & played great on both PC & PS5 Pro. Most fund I've had with the series since BF1 (got about 1500 hours on that :messenger_grinning_sweat:) So I'm quietly optimistic, may even pick up at launch which is something not done since BF1. Sure there's some tweaks to do still but that's what these betas are for. Heard some rumblings about the TTK online, but I honestly thought it was fine and if I wanted to drop folk with an arrow to the knee I'd just play COD.

Out of the those 3 I'd say BF1 is probably the closest to BF6 in regards to being dynamic & cinematic, might take a little getting used to the WW1 weaponry but it has a level of immersion not really found in the rest of the series.

That could mean a lot of different things. If they lower the speed of the reload, that's a nerf, but not one that make the weapon useless. But if the weapon becomes useless outside of 5ft range, that would suck.

Battlefield has always had at least 1 broken shotgun. Usually its a pump action gun with a sniper riffle ranged one shotter. It okay these to be effective at short range but at longer ranges no.

It depends what you would consider as close range. In most games, you have to be in kissing range to one shot with a shotty. Nobody would run them over an smg when smg's are already shreading up close and mid range.

Close range is like under 10 meters (32 feet). Longer then that the damage drop off should be significant. At 50m+ (164 feet) it should do no damage. Unless its slugs.

I really struggle to spot my position on the map. I can never figure out why the designers use colour schemes which differentiate important info with only mild shades of visual contrast from one colour to the next. The vision cone on the map is practically invisible sometimes.

Change them. You can do it all in the menu. Also turn on compass and minimap rotation to yourself.

With buckshot, but other ammunition like flechette, it should have more range, but a bit less damage. I like the shotty balance they have in Tarkov, but i doubt we'll see that in BF6.

Thanks to this thread, I'm buying the game day 1, I've been buying DICE games day 1 since BF2 on PC, I'm also a firm believer that ridiculous negativity drives sales, it's how you market to "boomers" in gaming.

Yeah im pretty fucking excited to go back tomorrow and we'll get a new map too. Wonder how's the player retention gonna be on the second weekend.

tomorrow? thought it doesn't come back till friday...
Tomorrow we can play? I thought Friday too. fuck I am excited. i loved the game so much, I actually preordered a game. i never done this for any game online ever ( like who cares ? are they gonna run out of licenses ? lol )

But I loved it so much to the point I wanted to pay and be done with it ( this way, in case I also decided to buy black ops 7, which is highly unlikely, I won't feel the pain of 2 full games in 1 month lol

The problem with crossplay with PC is cheating, not mnk.

Meh, it's massively exaggerated otherwise nobody would bother playing fps on the platform. You're looking at a micro fringe contingent and perceiving it as The experience on PC. I said it myself earlier in the thread; I can't even recall the last time I thought I actually encountered another player doing obviously dodgy shit in a game of Battlefield. They said BF5 was bad for it, but can't say I ever noticed anything myself in hundreds of hours over years. Shrug. Anyway, aren't most of these pricks entrenched on the Chinese servers (and timezone)? I never see 'em.

I'd sell up and move back over to playstation, if these twitter clips felt like common scenarios.

Doesn't matter to me how fringe it is as not much pisses me off more than investing a decent amount of time into a BR game especially to get aimbotted by a level 5 player near the end

In regular games like BF6 or COD MP I will just leave and try again

Your participation in Battlefield 6's first Open Beta weekend across PC, Playstation 5, and Xbox Series X|S made it a truly unforgettable experience for the team. We're thrilled by your feedback, and are focusing on making the October 10th launch even better.

Looking back on the first Open Beta weekend, we wanted to share a few learnings and changes we're making for playlists before we kick things off with Open Beta Weekend 2 on Thursday.

Playlists Adjustments

During Week 2, we're delivering more variety and choice for how you'd like to play with more playlists rotating between multiple different game modes. As an example, the All-Out Warfare playlist will include both Breakthrough, Conquest, and Rush. The in-game descriptions for each mode will tell you which modes are included in the rotation.

Rotating through multiple modes within playlists helps us understand what our community enjoys as we shape the launch experience, and enables us to keep more fan-favorite modes available at the same time.

Custom Search Options

Based on your previous feedback and to give you more control over map and mode selection, we're introducing a new feature called Custom Search.

This feature allows you to choose your favorite combinations of maps and modes. For example, if you want to play Conquest on Siege of Cairo, then matchmaking will prioritize putting you in a match with this combo, if available. Note that this is not a Server Browser (which is not being tested this week).

During Open Beta, Custom Search will be available for Open Weapon mode playlists so you can mix and match maps and modes as you prefer.

Weekend 2 Playlists Overview

Here is an overview of what the Open Beta Weekend 2 playlists will look like:

  • Day 1, Thursday 14th
    • Conquest
    • Rush
    • Attack & Defend (Breakthrough, Rush)
    • Close Quarters; Fast-paced playlist on smaller maps (Domination, King of the Hill)
    • Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough)
  • Day 2, Friday 15th
    • Conquest
    • Squad Deathmatch
    • Close Quarters; Fast-paced playlist on smaller maps (Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch)
    • All-Out Warfare; Epic battles across expansive maps (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush)
    • Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough)
  • Day 3-4, Saturday 16th - Sunday 17th
    • Conquest
    • Close Quarters; Fast-paced playlist on smaller maps (Domination, King of the Hill, Squad Deathmatch).
    • All-Out Warfare; Epic battles across expansive maps (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush)
    • Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare (Conquest, Breakthrough)
Rotating through playlists daily is specific for the Open Beta while we're still able to test and gather feedback, and is not planned for launch.

Other details to note:

Training Grounds will continue to offer the Firing Range and gameplay introductions for classes, Breakthrough, and Conquest.

Players at career rank 15 and below can access Initiation Mode, which includes AI Soldiers. This initiation experience is tailored for new players and will shift from Breakthrough to Conquest. Separately, there will be a non-playable introduction to Rush as well.

Thank you for your feedback and enthusiasm over this weekend. We look forward to seeing how these playlist options work in the matchmaking and the flexibility they offer.

We're looking forward to seeing you on the Battlefield again, starting this Thursday, August 14 at 08:00 UTC!
