I don't know.
I'm of the camp that would get Bayonetta 2 for a system I have, but not get a system for Bayonetta 2. My expectation is that most of the 800K or so people who got Bayonetta on the PS3 and 360 are of similar inclination - it was a consequence and incidental to having a system rather than a cause. Especially considering it was previously multiplatform and there was no need to get a system for Bayonetta. I think this is probably the case with most games.
Are people really going to buy a game they may have no interest in just to show some sort of support?
I'm actually quite curious how many people now planning to get this sequel have played the first. It might have even been a good idea to release a port of Bayonetta 1 as well.
I'm sorry, maybe I misunderstand your post, but I don't see the connection between your post and what you bolded in mine.
I specifically stated that people who already own the console at Bayo2's release will buy the game to show support for the console they bought.
As I said, maybe I misread something in your post or you misread something in mine.
Also, as I stated in an earlier post, Bayonetta 1 sold 1.35 million worldwide. It may have sold 800k in the US alone, but you need to see the bigger picture here, meaning that the US, although being probably the most important gaming market right now, is not the only gaming market in existence

Other markets behave differently, is what I'm trying to say.
P* and Nintendo will probably look at the worldwide sales of the game to see how well it sold and if they should make another sequel.
They will look at region specific sales to determine if that particular region is "worthy" of that sequel. That's my guess on it.
