Done! That was quite a marathon! 6:20:16 is my time woulda been alot shorter if I hadn't bothered with cutscenes for those first 5 chapters but w/e! Now where did that laughing smiley go?? Some of you guys are to much! You're like way over the top much like this game is!

I never said the combat on very easy was difficult. In fact that was so easy I never bought anything from the shop! What was difficult/annoying/problematic was the directionless nature of the game. When were they gonna tell me hitting R2 twice turned Bayo into a panther? Never! Hows about them 6 or so times they have you running towards the screen away from some deadly thingamabob? Gotta love those kinds of segments... NOT! And how about that platforming? Gotta love falling into pits a countless number of times! Let's not leave out everyones favorite punching down doors to pass through them! By the way why in this day in age are we still being made to run around picking up dropped stuff from enemies? Shouldn't action game design be past that by now and just have the stuff automatically given to ya? Nevermind the mandatory vehichle & shooter segments. At least they let ya skip the shooting mini-game between levels!

See I dun play games I hate once I realize I hate 'em. Which means I didn't hate this game! It never clicked with me sure, but it was alright enough ta keep me going through to the end. The combats way to fast paced for me but from what I tried to learn and play from it on both normal and very easy it seemed okay. A fine an thankfully really short (so short I may in fact replay it some day) button mashing beat 'em is just what the doctor orders sometimes and just like with the other action games I've played I'm okay with sucking at the game! Mindless fun isn't always a bad thing. The bad stuff was everything outside of the combat but then filler/padding in games always kinda suck.

I just hope next time I'm at the final boss I don't get stuck in an unending loop of getting frozen and mashing the stick to get free only to get frozen right after again and again and again until I die x_x;

You make the game sound so...pointless, haha. And I swear they tell you how to change forms. For whatever reason you must have missed it.

I don't remember the platforming (or most things about the game besides the combat, for that matter) really being anything to talk about either, negative or positive. A double jump in your normal form usually gave you more than enough airtime for just about every jump. You also had something that made it even easier, but I think you get it from the shop...which you never went to apparently.

Most of your complaints seem to be about having to take three seconds to do simple things! IMO, even action games should give you a few seconds to catch your breath and do things besides turn enemies into ground meat with combos. :p

You mean other than the cutscene where they show Bayonetta learning it from Jeanne and then give you a tutorial on how to use it immediately after?

Are you implying that you somehow got past that segment without using Beast Within? Because that would be, very literally, impossible.

I did. You just need to buy crow form before you get to that part. I didn't even realize I was supposed to use panther form at that bit.

All games are pointless! They're just stuff ta have fun with an I didn't not have some fun pounding on some neat baddies/bosses. Platforming really did suck for me in the latter parts of the game. Bayo just moves way to fast for me and I never got a good feel for any of her movements including jumping. Guess I shoulda visited the shop for some help afterall x.x; Hunting for chests, breaking random environment things for loots an simply moving on to the next area is enough breathing room for me. Platforming, puzzles that go over my head, and shoot 'em up segments be they on motorcycle or missile just seem outta place!

It had been over a week since I last played an like I said even early on I was basically tuning out cutscenes an junk even though I didn't skip 'em and I did stop right after the whole panther thing. The only plausible explanation is that I'm an idiot and completely forgot that part and how to turn into it. Well thats nothing 10 or so minutes of trying every button combo possible out didn't solve!

Lindsay reminds me that there truly is no "right" way to play a game and everyone plays 'em different.

My ways the lazy/stupid way cause I'm dumb and forgetful and don't take the time to really learn and get good at a game! If I'm having fun it doesn't matter to me how poorly I'm doing! I'll try harder (erm, easy mode is a step up from very easy sooo...) on my next play through whenever that is. Provided I don't completely forget everything about the game it should be more enjoyable the second time through as many games tend to be.

I can't get over the image of Lindsay speakin' like... well I'm not sure what the specific accent type is, but it's like dis! It's like you hafta kinda just lay back the slang and be excited on every sentence! I guess I'm readin' it like a Brookyln accent.

For the record, Bayonetta's a very very traditional action game, just with the best combat engine everrrrrrrrr

Holy shit, just fired this up and it's epic! Having Passing Breeze playing on the radio in one of the early cutscenes is just the icing on the cake.

I hate this game..Seriously....
The visuals are fucking busy it is difficult to see whats going on the screen most of the times. I have never died this often in an action game before.
I am at Collesium. That boss fight against double dragon head thing. I cant even see when boss is gonna slam its face to ground nor the area around me and lava ugh. Wish they made the design more simple and game more readable in action sense. Too busy too chaotic and not fun.

Oh and pacing....SO far it is like, cutscene, empty areas, 3-4 mobs...more walking alone....cut scene....few more mobs....cutscene...walking or puzzle solving for next 2 screens...ugh..cant they make a more smooth game nowadays....

I did not have many problems with that. It's also not that hard to push the enemies away from you and they always have signs when they attack. And cutscenes get a lot less later in the game.

I didnt think there were that many cutscenes that often...though I was trying to get to every verse.

I'd have never thought of that. Not very practical but looks cool.

That playthrough looks pretty good. Would like to see him on NSIC alfheims.

The game is extremely readable. Stuff glows brightly before attacks, and there are audio cues for most attacks as well. I can't actually think of a game with better cues. You just need more practice. Same with the dragon boss; you just need to play it a few times and figure out his different attacks and what to do when.

As for the pacing, just skip all the cutscenes. Problem solved. ;)

Use your ears. Normal has a massive timing window for dodging.

Yeah, only watch cutscenes your first time through.

Glad this topic came back up! I took the tail end of last week and the weekend to do another run through on Bayonetta. This time I bit my lip and prevailed on the 'Hard' difficulty setting.

My total time is at 33 hours or so. God damn this is an amazing action game. Best thing Platinum has put out. I forgot too how some of the cut scenes are kind of endearing and that theres a lot of charm involved with some genuine humor. I loved the little bit here, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOm4i_BZcb4&feature=related, at the 3:45 mark.

Bring on Bayo 2 I say!

Bayonetta 2 hopefully with less kilgore glitches, pullies butterflies, etc.

I can kinda see why you'd want to eliminate a glitch (not that you have to use it) but what's wrong with Pulley's Butterfly? It's an optional item that helps people get through the game.

Makes it too easy to get pure platinums by absorbing damage. It should count as a hit for scoring purposes even if you don't take any damage. Nothing wrong with it otherwise.

Then don't use it.

I think his issue is that there's no distinction between people who use it to get Pure Platinums and people that don't.

So people can get the same high scores for less effort at no consequence.

I personally don't have a problem with it(just another tool) but his logic is sound

Gaze of Despair + Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa or go home

Yep

If you use PB it means you only have one more accessory slot, so it balances out.

Nope. There's no better accessory to use if you are going for pure platinums. It takes 'can't get hit at all' and replaces it with 'you can get hit as many times as you have the shield to absorb it'.

And let's not get into the 'don't use it' BS. This is a linear arcade style game with a scoring system and leaderboards, not an RPG.

I like the moon of mahaa-kalaa, except it hurts your scoring potential.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I Managed to snatch one too !

Thanks a million for the tip : 25 years of gaming and it's really the first time I'm eyeing a guide book.
So, this is kind of weird. I added 800 to the basket (to see if they had in stock) and it added all 800. So I'm guessing they don't actually have the book.

I wonder if Future Press is going to print more of them and told Amazon they could put it up for sale again, since usually Amazon won't let you add more items than what they have in stock.

The fact that they didn't charge my CC directly also tells me they don't have it right now. Whatever the case, I'm happy. :D

I'll fucking sue them if they don't ship one to ME. :)

But yeah, you're right, I'm guessing they expect a new printing. Yay anyway !

Well, I didn't really buy 800 books, I just put them up on the basket. I almost bought them all, because amazon.co.uk never game me the "review your order" screen. It was just select shipping and BAM, order placed (on the one book I did order). :D

Whatever, more people should buy it! If Future Press is really looking into a reprint, more people would be better.

I thought about getting extras, but 800 hundred indeed seemed overkill ;)

BUY THIS GUIDE NOW, PEOPLE

It's basically God's gift to Bayonetta players. It's like guide porn.

Might I ask what is special about it. I'm debating whether I should spend the money to pick this up, but I admit I'm not an incredibly hardcore Bayonetta fan, though I LOVED it. All I mean is I haven't thought about putting more time into it.

Yeah, there's stuff in there I wasn't even able to find out on the internets (there's tons of Bayonetta info online, and some of the players on Youtube pull off ridiculous shenanigans, so I'm not just being flippant here). A code in the guide gives you access to a huge collection of videos on Future Press's website—demonstrations of many high level strategies and combos. Basically, the book is jam packed with awesome. A must for anyone who has played (or plans to play) through Bayonetta more than once.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Bought the guide. I hope to Bayonetta herself it is not a mistake, as I've been pining for it ever since I got the game with my PS3.

In short, the way official guides are meant to be. I'd love to buy one sometime.
