yeah, that's a great point. I was still getting a feel for all the different moves. I can definitely see it getting harder as I become more familiar with everything. Some of the moves were very sloppy on my part.

Total Body and X2 Ab Ripper felt incredible. I'm thinking I might add X2 Ab Ripper to X2 Core and potentially Balance and Power. Thoughts?

The bouncy pushup and kickbacks on the ball were devastating. Man. I was covered in sweat by the end of it.

Also, and this is a small thing, but I really like the X2 warm-up stretch routine and cool down. So good. The plyocide cooldown with the bands and modified downward dog is so, so good.

X2 Core and Balance and Power are already core centric workouts, so adding X2 Ab Ripper would be overkill imo.

Try putting a post-it note or something over the clock on your screen when doing yoga. I know that it can really drag — looking at the timer doesn't help!

Also, just a bit of advice, but try not to look forward to the end or to milestones too much. You don't just want this to be three months of your life — you want it to be a lifestyle change, and this is just the beginning. The first time I did P90 a few years ago, I was so excited to get through those 90 days and see my results at the end, but I didn't plan ahead for what was next, so I lost motivation and stopped working out due to my aimlessness. Not saying that this is what you're doing, just trying to help you keep your head up! Look forward to reaching goals, not to endings.
I don't know about anyone else, but when I first started I was really looking forward to finishing and just being done with it. Now that I'm on week 5, I see this being a part of my life forever. I probably won't be working out for an hour and a half for six days a week for the rest of my life; but my general fitness and well-being is more important to me right now than it has ever been. One of the reasons I started P90X was to replace my old habits with newer, better ones. I can already see it happening and I'm not even halfway through.

The fact is, I like the way I look and feel and I want to continue to get better. I don't want to stop improving until I look like Adam, which will probably never happen, which means I won't ever stop!

Exactly how I felt too, man. I got a friend to start last week and he keeps talking like this and I keep reassuring him this is for life. Trust the process, enjoy it and enjoy the fantastic life habits you're starting to build for yourself.

Can't believe I'm almost at week 8.

I'm sure this has been discussed in this thread already but today I discovered that Maren used to do (still does?) porn.

I read it in some blog or something. Of course I didn't confirm on Bing video search after that or anything. I just took the blog writer at their word. Right.

It's true.

I finally got better from my 2 week cold, but now I've been with a crippling stomach ache for 3 days because I ate expired peanut butter.

Why are the gods of fitness against me?!

I still did my daily workouts though.

My sister just pointed this out to me lol

and I almost threw up today after doing Base and Back in the morning for the first time ever!

I better get a "good job!" too
Man I love base and back, one of my favorite workout of all P90X and X2. I posted about this last year already, but I once passed out at the end of Base&Back when I tried doing while fasting and dehydrated...

Finished up today with the P90/MasterSeries hybrid I was doing, and now I'm ready to return to P90X on Monday. I think I'll take two rest days in preparation, which feels weird for a neurotic person like me, but is probably a good idea.

"Workout Nook 2.0" (I do all of my exercise in about a 3x6 area in my bedroom, watching on my tablet) is also complete, now that I've gotten my new weights:

Pretty psyched to start using these things. Keeping my old ones around for certain exercises, though.

I've also decided that I need to start drinking whey shakes again to help with protein/energy levels. Bummer... I was really liking not spending so much money on that crap.

Nice weights. I've been wanting a pair like that but since i've invested so much in inter changeable ones it seems a waste.

I did wonder can you do exercises like skull crushers with those? i.e. ones where you might smash your face in if the grips dont hold.

The SelecTechs are huge, so you do have to make allowances for that. I am going to need more than 52.5lbs per dumbbell soon so I'm thinking about getting another pair of adjustables, but they may not be Bowflex. Ironmaster ones seem to be highly rated and they are much smaller.

I got my tickets to the show today... holy shiz. Feels like it's my skin on my biceps that are restraining them :p

Put on a pair of former comfortable loose fit jeans today and they have magically turned into baggy jeans?? Now I KNOW that something is definitely changing. hard to tell when you look at yourself in the mirror every day.

I actually audibly gasped when I saw how loose my belt fit on its standard hole this morning.

Down 25 pounds since February 2. Losing weight is easy when you're finally able to quit depression-related binge eating...

So I think I'm going to do Insanity again. On days that it's nice enough to run I'll just go do that, and pick Insanity back up the next day. I think that'll work well.

My only worry is how much my legs will hate me doing Insanity + running back to back.

I normallly don't weigh/measure body fat for myself in the middle of the workout week, but today I finally hit 10.0% flat on body fat percentage. I'm hoping my weekly weigh hin will have me at below 10.0% for the first time ever :)

Honestly, doing that sounds like you'lll be over training your lower body and could lead to injury. Or did you mean only doing on or the other on one day? I read that as you doing both on the same day every day

Not the same day, no. I'd do Insanity until I hit a nice day and I'd run that day and pick Insanity up the next day. I was just worried because generally you take a day to rest your legs after running, but Insanity doesn't do that so maybe I'll be fine.

On vacation in Dallas, my sister has a full gym in her house and I've been spoiled with her dumbbell set.... god dog, doing drop sets and super sets and everything are sooooo much better with individual dumbbells.

This only reassured my suspicions so I may or may not be making a change depending on the kind of deals I can find. The 552's don't do it for me any more, 52 is too light for some moves.

Any idea when that new Shaun T workout is coming?

It's some time this summer, but they don't want to give an exact date in case it slips for whatever reason. I am -really- looking forward to it.

Also, I'm going to be running an Insanity Challenge Group starting on Monday, April 29th. It'll be Facebook based (I have a group connected to it).

Send me a private message if you're interested!

Is he doing Insanity 2, or something new?

Brand new! It's called Focus T25. 25 minute super efficient workouts with no rest. Cardio, strength, etc. Amazing results from the focus groups, too.

Hey guys, I'm two weeks into P90X2 (today would mark my third time doing X2 Core) and I was wondering how necessary the stability ball, foam roller, and medicine balls are for the rest of the program. So far, I can certainly see the use for the stability ball, but the medicine ball seems easily replaceable with an eight pound dumbbell/something else most of the time and foam rolling just seems like a rather odd concept in general (though I might like it? I've been skipping recovery and mobility and doing Yoga X/X2 or X Stretch on Wednesday and Sunday). Just wondering if they use these things less/more in phase 2 and 3 and if they're worth purchasing vs. settling for the modifications.

Hmm, I'd be interested. 25 minutes would get me to do it on days where I don't feel like working out. Is it a 2 month program?

EDIT: Secks I only used the stability ball and got through fine. I would recommend the med balls though, hard to do some of the med ball pushups without.

Med balls, stability balls, and foam roller are crucial for the 2nd (strength) phase. They really push your core, especially with balance moves (see 4 ball push ups, 3 ball plyo pushups, impossible/possible, or the moves from chest/shoulder/tri) All of them are worth buying. I use foam roller less nowadays but if I ever feel sore/tightness in my muscle, I foamroll right away

Thanks for the advice, I guess I have a use for my tax refund now lol.

Also I'm super stoked for T25, Pure Cardio was my favorite Insanity workout because it was short and had no breaks post warmup/stretch (even the "Max" Cardio Conditioning never felt as hard because there were more breaks/recovery exercises). Also it has Tanya, my Insanity waifu :3

I wonder if doing T25 in the mornings + strength workouts in the evening would be overkill.

I'm thinking of doing a second round of Body Beast with the workouts followed by T25. I know that there are strength moves with dumbbells in T25 but if you use light enough weights it *probably* won't be overkill.

Just finished day 30 of p90.

Starting to get bored of the routine. I also feel like I'm not recovering as well and therefore regressing a little bit when it comes to the cardio.
Any tips? I'm feeling lethargic and muscles feeling more tired the next day compared to previous weeks. does it mean I'm lacking in something in my diet that might improve recovery?

How many grams of protein are you having a day? Protein is essential for muscle repair. How many carbs are you having? If you're feeling lethargic i'd wager its from a low carb diet. Also make sure you hit your daily caloric intake (or at least get close).

Are you skipping pre/post stretches?

You get a week off now. From this point on its finding inspiration and your before and after pics should be it.

What happens if you do Body Beast without the diet? I mean, you eat healthy and get the calories you need to maintain. Take enough protein for that 1g pr. lbs ratio.

You will still grow right, but not as fast as with the right diet/supplements?

Reason I ask is because I plan to do Body Beast after P90X. I really like the idea of not working out for 1½ hours everyday and I don't plan on becoming big.

You'll definitely gain strength. But the muscles won't grow without enough fuel to make them grow. And you will want to replenish the glycogen with a recovery drink. Beachbody has their Results & Recovery formula, or you can mix their Fuel Shot, Base Shake and Creatine (which is what I do). It'll also help reduce muscle soreness.

I think you'll end up wanting to increase your calories anyway.

Also depending on your equipment some of the workouts may take more than an hour. I have to pause often to change weights. The Bowflex dumbbells are quick to change but with the super & giant sets and drop sets you are often doing another move without much time in between, and if that move is at a different weight it's hard to change the weight fast enough if you don't have individual dumbbells.

Unrelated note -- I will definitely be starting a Focust T25 Challenge Group on Facebook. Who wants in?

Here's a longer video talking about Focus T25. Has behind the scenes and testimonials from folks in the focus group. Can't wait!

Holy crap, the weights you have under the nightstand (on the left) are the ones I have. Pain in the ass to switch weight before a new move. I need some like your main ones.
