A guy at Total Wine recommended I try Kasteel Rouge. I'm not a fan of cherries but I love this beer. I will probably get it again in the future.

I need to figure out how to get some Cantillon. Is Fou Foune the best by far, or are the normal ones pretty good too?

Go to Canada. It sits around on the shelves. I've still got Vignerone, Lou Pepe Framboise 2009 and Organic Kriek in my cellar from the last Vancouver trip. Planning on getting some more when I'm in Vancouver next month.

It's all good. I can't think of anything bad I've had from them.

A bit of a long shot maybe, but if Norway-beerGAF happens to spot the Nøgne Ø / Bridge Rd beer Aurora Australis, I'd be interested in doing a swap (assuming I could find the Aurora Borealis in stores here any more, it was very limited). I don't care if it costs a bit to send that one bottle.

The story of these beers is that Bridge Rd Brewers (Australia) and Nøgne Ø (Norway) co-developed a beer recipe together in Australia, then went home and brewed said beer at the same time. Then Nøgne Ø put their beer into scotch (I think) barrels and shipped it to Australia. That's the Aurora Borealis. Bridge Rd brewed it and put theirs into red wine barrels and shipped it to Norway. That's the Aurora Australis.

I have an Aurora Borealis, but want the Aurora Australis (which can't be found in Australia, least not that I know of). If I can find it I'm willing to hunt down another Borealis to send as a swap.

Thanks, might be a good idea. BeerGAF seems pretty US-focused.

I'm just not much of a Reddit guy. Never been able to get into it really.

It definitely is US-focused, unintentionally ethnocentric. I don't even have a reddit account, but my roommate trades on there constantly. Unfortunately they may be US-focused too

Nøgne Ø distributes in North America, so there is chance that some of it made it over here. You might want to ask over at Beer Advocate, I'm sure someone over there has a bottle or two for trade.

Nice, I'll have to take a trip out there one of these days. I've been meaning to anyway.

How the hell do you pronounce Cantillon anyway?

I have only had the Maple Bacon Donut beer from Rogue and I won't hold that against them. I haven't really had the desire to try any of their other stuff though.

youre basing your opinion on a brewery based on their maple bacon donut beer?

Lots of people dislike Rouge now.

Some great beers and a really nice head brewer, but a lot of middling overpriced beers and terrible business/labor practices.

Can-tee-yon. Went to the brewery in Brussels a couple years back, absolutely incredible.

Yeah, when it comes to Stone I normally only go back the Smoked Porter and the IRS, but I was really impressed with the Enjoy By I had a few months back. Got a bottle of the latest yesterday, can't wait to try it again.

Nøgne Ø also distributes to Australia, but this particular beer was pretty limited so I'm not confident it'll ever make it to Australia. Then again, I've secured a bottle which will be sent soon, so knowing my luck it'll be here shortly.

Also, thanks B for Bendetta for the Reddit suggestion, because it took all of an hour to get a response with someone offering to send the beer. God, sometimes I really, really love the Internet and how it brings out people's generosity.

Shit, Cantillon is actually based in Brussels? Is it somewhere a tourist (e.g. me later this year) staying maybe a night or two in the region could easily get to? Really tempted to try and get to Chimay, since it's because of them I love beer. Westvleteren would be nice too, but there's too many hurdles with them.

Yes, it's only a short walk from one of the tram/subway stations fairly central in the city. Not a particular nice neighborhood, but its an awesome brewery to tour where you can taste lambic like you can't anywhere else.

Today is my birthday, and since I own this business and am the only one here, I'm enjoying Payette's Pale Ale. I don't know if they are available anywhere outside of Idaho yet, but it is one of my favorite Pale Ales.

Their brewery is about a mile down the street from my shop. I love having easy access to good local beer.

Here is what I've tried over the last few weeks. Still in the halcyon days of being back in the states after a few years in Germany so I'm loving all the cool american beers.

Brother recommended the Dale's stuff.

All great, of coures. Amazed how many products Sierra Nevada has now.

I'm noticing a lot more craft beers in cans as of late instead of bottles. distantmantra recommend the Red Racer IPA that only comes in cans to me a few months back. It took me a bit to find it... I would have also probably overlooked it in the past because it wasn't in bottles.

I wonder if we will see a large shift to cans in the upcoming years since can tech doesn't have that metallic taste anymore and cans actually keep the beer fresher...

I know that here locally, there is a big switch to cans. There is another brewery down the road here that is introducing cans in a month or so. I think most of the Boise breweries are canning now.

There is already a large shift toward cans in craft beer, but it's pretty expensive to do so.

Cannot wait for Boneyard to start canning later this year.

Never had any of the Enjoy By series. No distribution in TN, sadly, though we consistently get the Bastard series, SSR, Old Guardian, and IRS in pretty much every liquor store here in Knoxville. But yes, that IRS is delicious!

I'll keep an eye out for sure!

Though, I'm in MD right now. Even cali stuff is $2-3 more here as are imports from the middle states. I've not seen either of those in my humble Frederick. $10 for a decent sixer at the minimum seems the norm now.
