Beer |OT|

One of my best friends is down in LA right now beering it up. He hit Monkish, Smog City and Beachwood on Wednesday and Noble and Bruery yesterday. He's at Highland Park Brewing right now and I think he's hitting El Segundo and Phantom Carriage later today. Tomorrow I think he's doing Beachwood Blendery before going back to Monkish for the anniversary party before flying home.

Such a great beer. I've had it at 10%, 8%, and now 9% and it's still somehow consistently amazing. I've probably posted this before but it's the first time in a couple years that it's been sold here so forgive me.

Boarding flight for huna!

Btw talking trades keep me in mind :)

I am trading for a bottle with a BA contact to see if it's worth going to Huna Day. Been wanting to do a beer trip to Tampa, only got to visit Cigar City last time I was up there. The tap list is always top notch for Huna Day. If the beer is great I will definitely try and get a ticket next year.

In related news, had a bottle of last years Hunahphu last night that a friend had gotten in a trade and immediately wished that I got in on today's event.
I really enjoyed it.

Well there is always next year.

Saw the Huna Day thread on BA. Cigar City said do not line up before the event starts. By 9:45 people started lining up and there at least hundreds in line shortly after.

If you ever want a trader in Florida, hit me up. Been looking for a proxy for a Bruery membership if you're up for it.

I would be happy to do this. Let me know if you get signed up. In the meantime, let me know if you want anything specific between now and when you join. I do not typically max out.

Been really looking forward to trying this.

I'd been hearing rumors since November or December about that. Crazy stuff.

21st Ammendment may be next. Or soon. Who knows, but possibly likely.

21A would be weird. Why would they not sell when they didn't have a brewery? Building a super nice expensive brewery and then immediately selling seems really bizarre when they haven't grown yet much at all since doing so.

I agree, but that's what I've heard from people I have no reason to not believe.

Local shop has Ballast Point in now.

Good fucking luck getting people to buy a 6pack for $16 tho...

Gonna be in Seattle around May/June, which places should I check out WA/Seattle folk?

I was able to sample this at work. Quite impressive. I picked up a bottle right away, looking forward to cracking it open.

Got back in from NYC early this morning, and had some incredible beers at some great places this past week. Thanks for the great suggestions!

MVPs were The Ginger Man, Blind Tiger, and One Mile House.

Totally worth it insane taps, great location and food was also great.

That is just huna day events not counting the tons of beer week events...might have to go back next year :)

I've never been into mead. Way too sweet. Probably for the best, beer is expensive enough!

Mead has been coming around lately. Lots more options for dry and semi-sweet varieties these days. I don't have such a taste for it that I could give you any solid recommendations, but I'm sure somebody else could.

I've had some of the newer stuff, it's just not my thing. And I really don't need more "things."

The Ginger Man used to be one of my favorite spots after work when I worked out of midtown. Also a nice place is the Rattle N Hum which is not too far from there.

Cigar City sold it's controlling interest to Oskar Blues/Fireman Capital. Shouldn't see a drop in quality as Oskar Blues is still doing kick ass beer. Hunahpu for everyone!

Nectar Creek here in Corvallis makes some excellent meads. Even Rogue on the coast has some great ones on tap at times.

There are a ridiculous number of Irish beer/St. Patrick's Day related badges on Untappd right now.

1 badge for checking anything in today
1 badge for a Guinness American Blonde Lager (good for a couple more weeks)
1 badge for any Guinness beer (good for a couple more weeks)
1 more badge for drinking two more Guiness beers (good for a couple more weeks)
1 badge for any O'Hara craft beer (good for a couple more weeks)

My haul from last Friday. The Prairie Bomb was worth every penny. Dragon's Milk really wowed me with its heavy flavor. It was almost like burnt marshmellow. And of course I had to support some local breweries. 8th Wonder just started canning. Solid IPA, but nothing too special. Yellow Rose on the other hand, mah god. It's always so damn good. Fresh to boot.

Read about that the other day. Nothing but positive thoughts!

Speaking of Oskar Blues, I'm enjoying a Death By Coconut right now. Warms my belly something fierce. May drink a Saint Arnold Divine Reserve 16 after this. Stellar beer from them this year.

I saw some of you talking about trades several posts back. I'll be living in the Cleveland, OH area next month, so if anyone here wants to trade, hit me up! My girlfriend has been down to Hoof Hearted and wants to hit up other breweries around the area.

Wasn't a huge fan of Dragon's Milk; left me wanting compared to other BA Stouts; or even non-BA stouts like that Prairie Bomb! you got there.

I'm morbidly curious about the Italian salad dressing Hoof Hearted creations. Love to try one or two if you want to trade down the line.
I'm fairly skeptical myself. But I'm considering brewing one of these abominations since they're in fashion and I've got pretty much all the parts already. Gotta bring something stupid to share at Dark Lord Day since I don't really collect any whalez.

I've had Trillium and Night Shift's hazy IPAs, but HH sounds like something much crazier and not as palatable.
