The way the music ramps up is absolutely phenomenal and I never get tired of this fight. Playing this boss on a big TV is pure spectacle.

I give it to the Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls, purely because of how creative and creepily tragic it is. From Software has some of the best character and monster designers of the entire industry, and designs like this really make them stand apart.

The guy had his own science lab, library and workers, with some trained guard-boars, along with a crystal cave to chill out in when he fancied.

Fuck knows how many test tubes he fumbled and broke or how many minions got ice blasted to death when he got a bit cross about something.

Midir is cute in comparison to Placidusax.

That being said I'd say he probably has the second spot on my ranking of best dragon fight. Maybe third after Dragon God from Demon's Souls.

This isn't their best depiction, being based on 90's FMV & renders (and I didn't think Orta's designs stacked up to the previous games so ignore the middle one, though some alternative forms & evolutions could be cool) but yeah, it's Panzer Dragoon's as mentioned (way too late in the thread smh).

The adversaries were cool too of course.

Other than that, probably something from Monster Hunter (but likely not some crazy elder dragon design, something more tame like the various raths and exes). That one Dark Souls dragon was ace too, for going against your expectations like it did when it surfaced and opened its gaping mouth.

Lagi from Panzer Dragoon I think deserves #1, this is his final form but his other forms as he was growing in Panzer Dragoon Zwei were also awesome.

Surprised no love for Flammie from Secret of Mana. Definitely my favorite "cute" dragon design.
