Bethesda is being extremely shady about The Evil Within's PC framerate

I wouldn't trust Bethesda to give me an honest answer on anything personally. While I will be renting this game on the PS4, I am hoping that the PC version turns out to be good for when I get a new PC.

I got ya.

Consoles were certainly taken into account, but that does not stop PC being the lead development platform. Its the same deal for a series like Battlefield.

The difference between the PC version of Dark Souls 2 and the console version are immense. The only thing that was downgraded was the lighting and even that is still better on the PC version. The differences go well beyond what you'd expect if it were merely a console port:

1. Go back and watch the original reveal vids, much more than just the lighting got downgraded. Particles are easy to notice but there are entire effects ripped out.

2. Please tell me these immense differences between the PC and PS3 versions because I don't see them.

3. The game came out later on PC - how is it not a port? Look at the half rate animations for far off enemies, look at the tying of durability to framerate. All of these things scream console first development.

Games locked at 30 FPS also causes compatibility issues for 3D and Occulus Rift support. Technically they May still work, but it will be a terrible experience.

Honestly 60fps on the DK2 is pretty horrible as well. All the more reason for no caps, of course.

What he means to say is that 30 FPS can't provide a solid experience with keyboard and mouse.

It's significantly more bearable with a controller.

That was indeed more my point but i will say that 24fps for most Ninty games made those games unplayable, Nintendo agreed cause they (apparently?) upped the framerate for the 3DS remake.

Wait, it's hard to decipher but he's basically saying the dev itself doesn't want to lock it at 30 FPS but it is for an external reason? Odd.

I wonder how many 60+ FPS purists will pass on an otherwise good game because of this.

No, he is saying an external studio is responsible for the PC port, not Tango.

Oof. That's bad if true. Dodged a bullet by not pre-ordering this.

Not supporting this even if a user finds a way to uncap it. That's inexcusable on PC.

It will make a good PS4 rental :(

PC TEW caped 30 fps, not dev internaly by TNGO.

I am getting the PS4 version BTW. But this just makes me sad, since the backlash regarding this will be huge, and people will potentially miss out on a great game.

In other news, people playing the PS3 version of the game are saying the game is very good. Tune in next week for GAF drama of quality of game versus quality of PC port~

Hopefully the port is all good outside of 30fps and Id Tech5 things.

Considering the framerate looked dodgy in most media of the game I'm worried. If it's a solid 30 then fine, not perfect but I can live with it. As long as it's not below that

May as well post this in here as well.

Well would be nice to hear it from the horses mouth and what the reason why it has been capped. Also let be honest it's better to ask the people who capped it in the first place to remove it since they hold the source code than expecting modders to have to figure it out.

PS3 version at least is solid 30 fps with 15 second load times.

People are streaming the game right now and a few have been posting impressions.

i'm already seeing a hash-tag campaign demanding that the PC version isn't held to parity with the PS4!

Updated the OP with Cboat's response. If a mod could update the title with the new information, it would be much appreciated.

This joke has quickly run its course now. =/

But....... not the same thing here. The PC port is from an external studio. Tango seems to have handled the console version (PS4/XBO preferably) and maybe PS3/360.

Don't worry I've already seen posts that are like 'The PC has a locked framerate? Well I'm ordering the PS4 version!' which does boggle my mind a little as it's exactly the same framerate with a lot more stuff locked down. Oh well their choice I guess.
