Between Biggie, Pac, Jay Z and Nas...

Nas owns all of them so hard it's not even funny. Jay-Z is the weakest of the four by far, his lyrics are all so frigin redundant. Between Pac and Big, Big has a better form and his rhymes just manage to flow much more smoother. But none of them can touch Nas. Seriously, songs like "The Cross" go to show how lyrically deep Nas' songs are. Nas' tracks are far more poetic than anyone elses and I love that about him. "Poppa Was a Playa", "My Country", "Some of Us Have Angels", all of Illmatic and who can forget the worst hip-hop ownage of all time, "Ether."

And Nas' new single "Bridging the Gap" is terrific. And shit, "Streets Disciples" is easily the hip-hop release of the year.

Queens >>>>>>>> Your shity city.

not 2pac, even though he "sold out" late in his life... nothing would top THE FIRM.

I do love Nas though.

No.

Nas is 4th in the whole Biggie, Jigga, Pac or Nas debate.

He lacks charisma. He lacks wit. He songs are either 'hit' or 'miss'. The one's that 'miss' are the ones that are contrived... Forced... Just not him. Songs such as 'U Won't See Me Tonite' and 'U Owe Me' are prime examples of that.

My favorite Nas song ever is 'U Gotta Luv It'.

Street Disciple is hardly getting any listening time from me. If it were one disc, then I'd give it all kinds of props. Taking away just a couple of the sh!tty tracks allows it to fit on one disc.

Biggie
Tupac
Jay-Z
Outkast (both of them)
Ludacris
Eminem
Tech N9ne
even Ja Rule

All better than Nas.

this is a discussion of rap/hip hop... so mentioning Ja Rule doesn't seem at all relevant to me.

:lol his midget ass was on TV when I was reading the thread so I thought I would insult Arnold for his silly comment.

"Ether" was mad ownage. One thing I like about Nas is that he sometimes gets AZ to help him drop a couple tracks. I don't think AZ is a better rapper than Nas, but I do think he can steal the track at times. AZ is awesome. Nas really doesn't get anybody nearly as good to guest as consistently as him.

I'd have to say 2Pac. Makavelli, All Eyez On Me, Me Against the World... awesome stuff. How can anyone say he sold out more than any other rapper? ONE of the things rap is about IS selling out.

Biggie was a great rapper. Ready to Die is a classic, up there with anything 2Pac has done. He just doesn't have much of a track record.

Jay-Z sucks IMO

I was criticizing the Firm... but it's cool that you like it... just I thought it was a lowpoint for Nas.

dave is ok

aztek is ok
By my count, Nas has released one great album (Illmatic) two good ones (Stillmatic, and Streets Disciple) and a bunch of junk. I'm not the biggest 2Pac fan, but Biggie is one of the greatest rappers of all time and I think that much is obvious. I think he takes first, Jay-Z is good, but hypes himself too much, I'd still have to give him second, then Nas/2Pac in any order

I firmly stand by my opinion that Jay-Z is garbage for the most part.

I'd like Ready to Die a hell of a lot more if I didn't hate Puffy's production. I don't know what the production is like on Life After Death or anything, but I don't want to bother if it's like the shit on Ready. I way prefer the stuff RZA & Dre were doing around that time... that's more up my alley. Biggy's rhymes and flow were fantastic though. Bums me out.

And even though Jay-Z's lyrical content isn't always the best, he's got charisma out the ass, and serious mic skills. I still hate the song "Hard Knock Life," though.

I firmly agree... but I'm saddened that we might be the only two... or maybe DarienA agrees, not sure.

Personally, I think Nas tells a story better than any of the rappers listed above. Jay-Z can flow, but half the time he's uttering nonsense. He got raped on Ether. Tupac still holds the award for best diss track ever, though, with Hit 'Em Up. Such anger, such hate, pure vitriol. No one projects anger better than Tupac, he just had the perfect voice for it. Biggie, he had the nicest flow and lyrics to go with it.

We just rock like that.

Biggie
Pac
Nas
JayZ in that order as far as flow, although I think JayZ is more consistent than Nas when it comes to good flow. He just hypes himself too much, like someone else said.

Pac

Nas
JayZ
Biggie in terms of depth. NOBODY can touch Pac in terms of lyrical depth. It's no even a comparison. N-O-B-O-D-Y!

Stop! Don't even think it!

WTF is wrong with you guys? Didn't I say not to think it?!

And No, Nas > Pac. Nas has is moments...but they can be so contrived. Pac runs the gamut of emotions in his songs. Love, Hate, Fear, Anger...you name it, he expressed and expressed it well. Only thing Nas shows is knowledge.

Hmmm, I would say;

Biggie
Eminem
Andre 3000
T.I.
Jadakiss

I put Nas and Jay Z at almost the same level....maybe Jay-Z a little higher. Nas gets to philosophical(sp?) and over people heads, and not in a good way.

Pac was really overrated, IMHO.

RUBBA BAND MAN! WIL' AS THE TALIBAN! NINE IN MY RIGHT, FO'DEE FI' IN MY OTHA' HAN'!

The burning "TI" in the music video that looks like a burning cross is pretty much hilarious. (Not because I think the KKK is hilarious, I loathe racism) So is the fact that he says the rubberband "represents the struggle, man" while sitting on the hood of a Rolls Royce, in a $500 outfit, with Puff Daddy, who is wearing a fur coat. SURE LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE STRUGGLIN'.

Nas is god's son for good reason, buy his whole catolgue he is a living legend.
He has contributed to this art form and continues to drop gems check streets disciple one of his best works maybe even the best.

This man knows what he talks about. Jay-Z stole Biggie's flow, without this flow he's just another generic rapper flossing with some occasional conciense songs mixed in. I rescept his hustle and his game (Beyone) though.

Look depending what you look for in a rapper they can all be No 1 on your list. Nas= knowledge and message. Jay-Z= flow and bussiness. Biggie = flow and lyricism. Tupac = charisma and message.

Also *shock horror* while Nas can't flow as well as Jay-Z people should check out the second verse on message to the Feds.

Why isn't Rakim mentioned yet?

jay z haters....are yall from NY?

I use to think Jay Z was good with great lines here and there but just not as good as others.....

till I came out to NYc. Listen to Jay in NY and he just becomes great....its like....he is the opitime(spelling?) ofn Nyc. He became one of those most realest emcees to me.

Now I rate those 4 as...

Nas
Jayz
biggie
Tupac

when it use to be...

Nas
Biggie
Tupac
Jay Z

now with the whole biggie tupac thing...

I always felt Biggie had better lyrics while Tupac had better flow and delivery. I mean, Tupac said some simple ass shit but the way he said it was just so well done and you could FEEL everything he was saying....while Biggie's lyrics at the time were more intricate and raw but his flow was pretty much the same usually....he wasnt as diverse as Tupac was imo.

But i always put Biggie above tupac just because I am an east coast head....but I feel Tupac was alot more influential than Biggie or Any rapper was with the exception of Rakim.

When comes to who was the most Influential emcee to Emcees...
Rakim
THEN Tupac.
THEN eminem.

Most Influential hiphop Group ever would have to be Wu tang for many reasons tho Run DMC would be right behind them.

although I think the Roots are the best hiphop group musically.

peace

Elvis and 2Pac Christmass Duet to be released tomorrow

When is your sense of humor going to be released?

The death of both Pac and Biggie changed the game in a major way. As a result, we have your Master P's, Jay-Zs etc. Neither of them would've blown up like they did... Especially after the bomb that was Vol. 1.

I respect Jigga, know what he's capable of... Plus I'm a native New Yorker. I don't think a lot of ya'll can even relate to Hov like that. *shrug*

Jay-Z *does* bite on Biggy's rhyming form sometimes...wtf? Sometimes the way Jigga is rhyming sounds so much like Biggie's spit in "Notorious Thugs" that it fucking pisses me off to no end. Jay-Z is a hack, he is a phony. "How many of Biggie's rhymes is gonna' come out yo' fat lips". Seriously...

I do admit feeling shame in that the most accomplished rappers to come out of DC are arguably a christian group... but I don't think that's very relevant.

I say a B.I.G. verse, I'm only biggin up my brother

DCB,

Was there ever a fued between Puffy and Jay-Z? I just find it odd that they don't seem to be friends. Maybe they are but I just find their public interaction or lack of it puzzling.

Nah, they're cool actually.

Jay jokes on 'Flava In Your Ear' off his S. Carter mixtape...

Puff... What up my ni99a?! Let's go half on a boat

No beef, although I'm sure Jay has issues w/ how Puff handled Biggie's posthumous releases among other things.

That song makes me laugh because with the kids singing in the background, it sounds like a children's song, but he's talking about guns and shit :lol
