Jay-Z haters are the me-tooers who want to be cool for hating what's cool. No, you're not cool for hating on Jay-Z, you're just a hater. The Takover-Ether shit is one thing, but trying to prop Nas up over Jay-Z lyrically is bullshit. Everytime I hear someone tell me Nas is the best rapper from NY, I gotta doa double-take and be like, "huh?" Jay-Z owns Nas coming and going. Nas is good, but as has been pointed out, he's not as consistent. God's Son was good enough, but mostly for the production his lyrics were mostly garbage. Illmatic was great, It Was Written...meh. Stillmatic...meh. Compare this to Jay-Z who's worst album still ranks right there behind Illmatic IMO.

Jay-Z changes up his flow, his style and his stories. It's not always the same shit, although it is mostly Jiggaman backpatting going on, but which MC doesn't gas himself these days? Seriously, let's be fair. Pac was good just b/c of the volume he produced, but of all the "legends", he ranks last IMO. His worst songs were totally forgettable, and his best were long ago. Before he died, he was churning out crap. Biggy rocks, I can't say anything bad about him. He was helped greatly by Puffy, but that's not bad. His flow was tight, always had something interesting to talk about, and he was a fat, lazy-eyed bastard. What's not to like? :lol

So my list is:

Jay-Z
B.I.G.
Nas - Tupac *tie*

I too would put Outkast (together) up on that list, probably behind Jay-Z. I'd also include Trick Daddy b/c he's been repping Miami for years without recognition. Southern rap is a little different, so you either dig it or you don't. And Pitbull's making a big name for himself right now. Eminem is one of those guys who can do it all too, although he's not even trying anymore. When he's on point though, he's one of the best. And Snoop has reminded us constantly that he's still got one of the dopest flows ever, and can still cut a hot track. I don't know who makes that track "Drop it like it's Hot" more, the Neptunes' beat or Snoops chill rhymes. So you fucking haters stop sippin' that Haterade and recognize greatness. R.O.C. ;) PEACE.

Was herbin' em in the home of the Terrapins
Got it dirt cheap for them
Plus if they was short wit' cheese I would work wit' them
Boy and we...got rid of that dirt for them
Wasn't born hustlers I was burpin' em
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
Fo' sheezy my neezy keep my arms so freezy
Can't leave rap alone the game needs me
Haters want me clapped and chromed it ain't easy
Cops wanna knock me, D.A. wanna box me in
But somehow, I beat them charges like Rocky
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
Not guilty, he who does not feel me is not real to me
Therefore he doesn't exist
So poof...vamoose son of a bitch

CHORUS
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
Fo' shizzle my nizzle used to dribble down in VA
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
That's the anthem get'cha damn hands up
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
Not guilty ya'll got-ta feel me
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
That's the anthem get'cha damn hands UP!

Holla at me...
I do this for my culture
To let 'em know what a nigga look like...when a nigga in a roaster
Show 'em how to move in a room full 'o vultures
Industry shady it need to be taken over
Label owners hate me I'm raisin' the status quo up
I'm overchargin' niggaz for what they did to the Cold Crush
Pay us like you owe us for all the years that you hold us
We can talk, but money talks so talk mo' bucks

CHORUS

Yeah...
Hove is back, life stories told through rap
Niggaz actin' like I sold you crack
Like I told you sell drugs...no...
Hove did that so hopefully you won't have to go through that
I was raised in the pro-jects, roaches and rats
Smokers out back, sellin' they mama's sofa
Lookouts on the corner, focused on the ave
Ladies in the window, focused on the kinfolk
Me under a lamp post, why I got my hand closed?
Cracks in my palm, watchin' the long arm o' the law
So you know I seen it all before
I seen hoop dreams deflate like a true fiend's weight
To try and to fail, the two things I hate
Succeed in this rap game, the two things is great
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A
What else can I say about dude, I gets bizzay

CHORUS

(girls singing)
H to the izz-O, V to the izz-A... (4x to fade out)

LOL, yea a true lyrical mastermind, hahaha

Seriously you don't need this board to validate popular opinion. When Jay-Z retired MTV 'cried'. When Nas retires people who appreciate good music and hip-hop will 'cry'. History will see Nas with the greats IMO no one can replace what Nas brings to the table. Angelus is already replacing Jay-Z :lol

Banned
I'm tired of the term "hater" being arbitrarily bandied about by those hostile to any criticism of their pop idols. I don't "hate" Jay-Z because he's a pop icon. No, my disdain for him -- along with his fellow "gangsta" brethren -- stems from the moral, cultural, and intellectual rot he has engendered amongst black youth, particularly black boys. Because of Jay-Z, you have kids out here who think it's cool to sell crack. You have zombies who obsessively aspire to shine more than the next man, unconcerned with the impact their way of life has on the black community. I don't respect any mc that promotes drug dealing, that glorifies criminality, and that doesn't strive to enlighten rather than dishearten.

Want some dope, positive hip-hop?

Listen to Wordsworth, ED OG, Blackalicious, Masta Ace, Murs, etc. Listen to true artists, not some uneducated minstrel act like Jay-Z.
