Apparently next episode is, finally, the first part of the movie (0079 alternate).Biggest hope for the next episodes is that we don't spend tons of time at Amante's school. Please let the school just be a footnote.

No, it was longer in the movie, the rest was replaced by a quick narration. Hopefully we'll see the rest later but I doubt it.So does Episode 2 cover the entirety of the 0079 content from the movie?
Yeah it's very mid so far. There is a very interesting twist in the movie/first episodes and it's just being wastedWell it only took 7 episodes, but the story is finally going somewhere. I feel like I have the same overall problem with this series as I had with G-Witch: an interesting premise and setting being wasted on vapid protagonists who are only loosely connected with any of the events taking place which are actually compelling. I keep wanting to see more of the plot involving the Zeon and Federation factions maneuvering against each other, yet it keeps getting pushed to the side in favor of having a couple of teenage idiots crushing on a boy who barely acknowledges their existence.
It tries to go in every direction and ends up going nowhere. They crammed too many storylines into too little time. Seeing Char and the RX-78-2 again was fun, but beyond that, it felt like pure fan service, like you saidJust one more episodes to go, and I still don't know what's the point of the whole thing. It just feels like showing some OG Gundam fan service in what if universe with very weak story of its own.
It's pretty cool that it's showing the alternate universe, but lacks focus?
On top of that, Gundams look so overly complicated that I wouldn't know the difference between the 3 Gundams if the colors were the same.
I actually liked other refined MS designs like Zaku and Gyan, but the main Gundams look just plain complicated mess.
Machu and Nyan's relationship - they barely spoke to each other for the first few eps and now they are BFF foerver turned to enemies etc, which I don't get either....
And not sure if the last episode, within less than 30 min of running time will be able to tell the story well. None of the side characters had time for any meaningful character development too.

They announced it as having 12 episodes and next week should be the last.So this isn't split into two parts?

I hope it won't be the new standard, obviously the 2 seasons with 50 episodes each is gone with today's cost but 12 is incredibly shortThat's short for a Gundam anime...
The episodes that were from the movie 'before the incident' were alright. Then it switched to the story of the main characters, went really nowhere and now it's getting good only because of 0078 fan service for the last episodes. You didn't miss muchI haven't watched past episode 1 yet, wasn't getting a great vibe from the characters or the animation.
If you haven't seen mobile suit gundam 0079, this show honestly comes off as pretty shitty. Despite its style suggesting it's aimed at a younger audience, it really isn't.reinventing Gundam so that it appeals to younger audiences.

It's a VERY weird show

It's all valid points but I have to keep explaining everything to my son since he hasn't seen the original mobile suit Gundam 0079 yet. Like if it was their reasoning behind this they messed it up seriously.I don't know but art style and horny teenage girl story are all obviously attempting to bring in that older teenage audience that loves Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, Dandadan etc. Nonsensical stories and cryptic lore aren't really a major turn off for that audience as long as the characters are appealing. This isn't a series designed for the 40 year olds that love the more serious themes of 0079, Zeta, ZZ and CCA even if it references those anime all the time. The horrors of war and shit like that doesn't sell to kids anymore.
Oh, I'm out in Japan and the main theme by Yonezu is massive too.
If their intention was to bring in a younger, new audience into Gundam (which people say in regards to every new Gundam series...) then I don't understand why they are going about it they way they are. Why a "what if" on the original Gundam series, with constant fanservice and references to the old Gundams, in a 1 cour series?I don't know but art style and horny teenage girl story are all obviously attempting to bring in that older teenage audience that loves Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Revengers, Dandadan etc. Nonsensical stories and cryptic lore aren't really a major turn off for that audience as long as the characters are appealing. In the past when they wanted to bring Gundam into a new age for a new audience, we got Gundam Seed. And while I am aware not everyone loves it, it did a relatively good job of capturing what "Gundam" was, and was very successful. Quuux, I just don't really understand who it is for.
I would also say, Gundam has been growing for a number of years now, even without this show. And the Gundam Seed movie was one of the best performing things they've ever put out. I don't really think they need a series like Quuux to capture a new audience to begin with.

But the characters aren't even good. After reading your post, I tried the RedLetterMedia challenge of describing the main cast without referring to their physical appearance or role in the plot and came up almost empty (except for Shuji who I actually came up empty for - who the fuck is Shuji?).
No they don't have to, RG rx78-2 v 2.0 is selling like pancakes since its releaseThey want to keep selling
Probably because they want to keep selling models and toys of the RX-78-2, Char's Red Zaku, GMs and Rick Doms until the end of time and they can only keep doing that if they reintroduce those to a new audience periodically.
