You were asked to score 13 pop girls across a variety of categories (below), and your voices have been heard. Read on to see where your faves landed.
First, a quick snapshot of our six categories:
DISCOGRAPHY – An artist's albums and singles game.
VOCAL TALENT – Can the bitch sing though?
PERFORMANCE – General stage presence, live abilities, etc.
LIKABILITY – She may be talented, but do we even like her?
IMPACT – An artist's footprint on music or pop culture to date.
FUTURE ODDS – Will this person be considered a legend in twenty years, or are they doomed to the short term?
With that covered, let's get started:
13 – MILEY CYRUS (avg: 2.267)
Miley fell below a 3.0 across every category, with PERFORMANCE scoring highest (2.7). She fell below 2.0 in two categories: DISCOGRAPHY (the lowest of all the girls) and FUTURE ODDS (tied for lowest with Lana Del Rey).
12 – NICKI MINAJ (avg: 2.39)
Nicki edged out Miley in DISCOGRAPHY and LIKABILITY, and her highest score was IMPACT (2.77). It seems that even with our tepid reception to her, we do acknowledge some decent influence she's had. Like Miley, she didn't scrape 3.0 in any category, and her VOCALS score was second lowest of the girls (Britney Spears scored lowest, unsurprisingly).
11 – TAYLOR SWIFT (avg: 2.41)
The shockingly low placement here lets us draw at least two conclusions: First, that Taylor Swift's LIKABILITY is so low (1.4, by far the lowest) that its impact diffused subconsciously into the other categories. And second, it could just mean that Taylor Swift is worth more than the sum of her parts. She yielded relatively low scores in DISCOGRAPHY (2.4), VOCALS and PERFORMANCE (both 2.09), but received some solid acknowledgement in IMPACT and FUTURE ODDS (3.2). It seems that even with Taylor's polarizing personality and shortcomings, we still think she has her legacy sealed.
10 – LANA DEL REY (avg: 2.62)
Aside from joining Nicki for the lowest score in FUTURE ODDS (1.95) and fairly low IMPACT points (2.22), Lana Del Rey pulled ahead of Taylor by scoring the second highest of all the girls in DISCOGRAPHY (3.45, actually tied with Rihanna for second), as well as scoring quite decently in LIKABILITY (3.13). Overall, we don't have much faith in her prospects as a legend, but do love her music.
Who rounded out our top 9? That and more coming up. <3
