Worst. Comparison pics. Ever.

Sure. I mean, Playing it on the console with a Sub-HD resolution, MLAA to completely rape fine details ( See barbed wire )(
That's BS. MLAA does not 'rape' fine details or even affect them at all basically. It wouldn't even be applied to that barbed wire most likely. Also the fact that it's technically 'sub hd' will be irrelevant to 90% of the people playing it, as the tiny black borders at the top and bottom will be eaten by overscan for them (they don't scale it to 720p but rather letterbox with 9pixel bar).

Point in case: It looks like shit either way. And it's not irrelevant in a comparison thread. The people who don't care wouldn't linger around this thread either.

Okay, you made me chuckle with the cell comment. Well played, sir.

The days of a $800 - 1000 dollar PC just having higher res and AA over the $300 console are over. This gen has lasted too long for that.
Multiplatform development makes this statement null and void. PC versions will always be gimped as long as multiplatform development is for the lowest common denominator IE console hardware. That isnt going to change especially by a publisher that has no qualms about shitting on the pc platform left and right.

Stallion shot himself after seeing those artifacts.
We'll have a 64 player funeral for him ingame where we drive the coffin off a cliff onto the wing of a bomber plane then fly it off into the sunset.

OT: the difference in lighting is immense btw, the more I look at the ps3 screenshots the more I realise it has that frostbite 1 overbright oversaturated lighting that ruined bad company 2 for me completely.

From a gameplay perspective no game has ever had worse visuals than bad company 2.

amazing...$599 graphics cards are better than 6 year old consoles. i never would have believed it without the massive screenshots.

Well that and the console version will have comfy couch, won't require a machine that costs $3,000, and will have unified online like XBL. Clearly the version to get.

That kind of kills the original comparison. It's not exactly fair to draw a comparison between heavily compressed PS3 shots and much cleaner PC shots, is it? The point of the original post was to show both games in a similar light (shots from video with compression artifacts present). Not a great comparison, but it gives you an idea of what it looks like.

Fair enough, but since I had the 1080p trailer sitting in my hard drive, I thought I'd give it a shot. :)

100 dollar graphics cards are better than consoles.
5770 can give some great results.

I'm a PC gamer, but I keep my PC'ing to my desk because I work, game, and do video/photo editing in one place. My console remains in the living room, comfy couch and cost me $199.

Maybe. I spent about $1200, but that includes an expensive (at the time) dual-HD tuner card, a high-end motherboard, and some other extra costs. Today, I'm sure I could build a Crysis-ready htpc for under $700.

Jesus, the console pics aren't even in 1080. Why is this a thread?

I doubt the console versions will run at 1080p when the game is released. But I agree with your comment about the justification of this thread. Anyone expecting the console version of this game to be on par with the PC version are fooling themselves. That said, the Fallon video shows that the console version does look good in this early build and will, most likely, look better by release time. One would assume that the 360 version looks similar to what was shown on Fallon.

That 720p fallon video looks a lot better btw.
I'm impressed with the ps3 version (considering it's age).
Seems the only (singleplayer) things console players really noticably miss out on is res/texture quality/AF/framerate/m+k and ofcourse the awesome lighting.

I was expecting it to look much more like those screenshots (before seeing the screenshots even), a blurry ugly mess with pop in like crysis 2.

Dice had a good idea with their non scaled black bars, but I dread to think how other devs will copy and butcher that idea.
Get ready for widescreen bars on your widescreen tv's people.

Becuase it only runs at 1280 x 704 as someone else mentioned in this thread.

Someone at sony marketing Dep. deserves a raise for making so many people think their "HD" consoles display 1080p.

Not my point. The native res of the broadcast is 1080 (if you have HD). At this point, we're looking at shitty, compressed, non-native res screengrabs, which are totally useless for making valid comparisons.

MLAA in SCE implementation looks unquestionably better than 2xMSAA at equal resolution. I don't think that's looking like shit, but if you do, feel free to.

Yeah, I think the difference there is bigger than what people are making it out to be. In motion it does look a lot better than FB1 though.

Any 360 images? May as well throw them into the mix as well.

It's pretty weird we haven't seen any yet. 360 version has the biggest potential sales wise and has to be a good port if EA wants even a slight chance of BF becoming the CoD challenger (popularity wise).

I often stare at my TV with games on pause...this thread was perfect for me.

-_-

PS3 version looks like it will be very nice in motion, considering its a 5 year old computer (which is something people usually throw away), thats pretty cool.

That Fallon video in 1080p just confirmed my ps3 purchase. Looks really good!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLCFQyqEoHA&feature=channel_video_title

easily looks downgraded at 720p. there is a lack of luster and grain never mind the plodding framerates.

i find it funny the 2 guys spent minutes talking about destroying covers and not showing it. and when they did by killing the rocket guys, i find it unbelievable the machine gun rounds can rip through concrete wall like styrofoam

A very, very nice individual has got us a 1080i off-air recording of the Battlefield PS3 footage from Jimmy Fallon. Quality is sensational.
I guess we can expect a thorough analysis soon enough.

What console is it for, Nintendo 64?

Sorry, stupid joke. Plz don't hurt me. Game does look a little rougher than I was expecting though.

Off-air recording coming? Wow

I think he's trying to be fair, taking screenshots from youtube video of both since there is no direct feed PS3 stuff yet.

Those screenshots aren't really giving either version justice, so I'll post a few HD screens from the PC version:

loving the six arab dudes looking exactly the same. Kindof like Waldo Jalalabad spinoff

a game either looks stunning or crap on here...

Doesn't look as good as PC version? It shouldn't

It looks an approximation of the PC version, a good approximation given the hardware.

Without direct feed it is not really possible to see how it stacks up to other console fps games.
