Binary Domain - Consequence System

I think it's the first feature in the game that dosn't look copy-pasted from others shooters.

Now the game has some more to offer than just being another japanese Gears clone.

Squad trust you say? I wonder if perhaps we will be able to take actions that help them trust us more...you could call them "loyalty missions".
Only it looks like that trust actually manifests as an actual gameplay mechanic. Color me intrigued.

5/10 Ok effor but could be a better joke about mass effect 2

It doesn't have to. Maybe if Sega actually get the game out there.
Just like how THQ got Space Marine out there.

I'm guessing that the hero turns out to be a holo-child at the very end.

But seriously, this just makes me wish squad dynamics like this were in Mass Effect 3. Would work with Kinect/headsets too.

Not a joke, an honest point. For all that ME2 played up "loyalty", that didn't play out in any way other then some arbitrary events at the end. In contrast this game looks to actually integrate the opinion of your squad members into their behavior.

Definetly sounds like a better implementation of the loyalty stuff on ME2.

Making "inappropriate comments" means my squad will leave me to die? Did Sega's HR department design this game?

Sounds very dependent on the AI. Looks good on paper, but it is probably very easy to screw up. It does have my attention though so I'll be keeping track of how well received it is.

Looks awesome. I was initially intrigued because it's being done by the yakuza team, but it's genuinely starting to look like a game that might distinguish itself from most other third person shooters.

Very good trailer. Reminded me of the stuff Rockstar does for Red Dead and GTA. But Sega should really be pushing the fact that this game is by Yakuza team. I think more people would be interested if they knew.

They need to work on the script, at least. Weird semi formal Japanese and wacky "Hey, this is Yankee style! Got your back, bro!" translation isn't going to fly if it's their attempt at reaching a broad audience.

Not exactly seems like they will just fight on their own and no teamwork.

Basically playing Battlefield with a squad full of COD boys.

I don't remember any advertisements or pushes with that game. I guess they released a demo and then released the game when it's competitor was not too far away. That game looked like it was always going to fail.

Considering how weird the translation and dialog is from that trailer I have low confidence of this working properly and foresee a lot of frustration from people who keep getting their squad more angry at them.

Really? No, but seriously. It's almost like they could've scrapped the game and made a dev kit out of the technology instead called "Generic TPSmaker".

Not only that, it seems we'll be forced to play as the generic 30-something brown-haired buzzcut white guy with bulging biceps, with a black guy with an even more bulging biceps and the quick, nimble and agile asian sniper chick as sidekicks.

Well, the protagonist will feel right at home in today's market.

Remember how awful that first trailer was? Game is looking a lot better, but I wonder if the consequence system really affects the story like the trailer says, or if its just fluff. Still not sold though.

lol, while it sounds quite cool with a consequence system like that, it is actually quite fucked up. Who ignores their commander's orders when it's about life and death? Doesn't make any sense at all. But it does still seem interesting.

The gameplay however is another matter. Looks like your typical third person shooter with static enemies barely doing anything other than standing still and shooting.

"Cover me!"

"Later on!"

"I do not agree!"

I was laughing so hard... what?!

Finally, a good Ghost in the Shell game?
One of those was made already.

But really, I have to agree that BD looks nothing like Ghost in the Shell.

EDIT: And this Consequence System is an interesting idea in theory, but will likely fall flat in practice from the looks of things.

I was more talking about the consequence system and how you can interact with your team.

exactly, games need to experiment more with the ai scripting and add personality to characters. At the very least this trailer makes them sound smarter than most friendly ai, even if their engrish is poor.

also, its about time for snatcher 2

I have to say I like the fiction for this game, it's interesting and will be cool to see what they do with it.

Gunplay looks surprisingly sharp, but what the heck is up with that voice acting?

That AI thing though is something that no one has really gotten right yet in a squad based shooter, let alone a Japanese developer, no to mention allowing AI to disagree with the player. It could also end up sounding really mechanical, but we'll see...

The branching storyline is the one main thing I'm seeing that will really set it apart from say, Gears.

This is looking really good. The AI will probably be too binary on wether they like you or not but that's ok it's still an interesting mechanic. I hope the choices have a real impact on the main narrative throughout the game and it isn't just about killing off characters or having a romantic relationship but that's probably too much to hope.

A good gits game will have to be an ARPG so we can get a lot of dialogue in there since a huge part of gits is people dealing with their humanity in an age where everything's being overtaken by machines.

So... Deus Ex?

- Cover me!

Yeah, such fitting responses... The fuck?

Gameplay looks ok, if it has elements beyond the shooting, like exploration, story, etc. I don't like how the bots explode though, that looks cheap.
