Dragon Age Veilguard, Non Binary character

Okay, serious question.

For people such as the one above, can they just change their minds about how they wish to be addressed on a daily basis? Because if so, that's actually pretty unfair to everyone else.

One day, he/him, the next day, she/her, and the next day not wanting to be gendered at all. A week later, back to feeling like being he/him.

since it has zero connection to any logical concept, yes.

which is why anyone actually taking this shit seriously has either mental issues or an IQ below freezing temperature.

I'm spanish and the game's subtitles are a FUCKING DISASTER. A lot of characters speak using "gender neutral" pronouns and articles in every situation, and guess what...spanish language DOESN'T HAVE gender neutral. Things use masculine or femenine articles and pronouns (ending in -a for fem and -o for masc). The game is plagued with words ending in -e that doesn't exists in my language and it's super annoying.

It's not just a character that you can avoid...is nonstop. Trash of a game.
Yeah, gendered languages are fun like that. Surprisingly Polish has a neutral “gender” - to. So “I had” for a man is “miałem “, for a woman - “miałam”, and now some agender people are using “miałom”, which is a spin to make it sound non-gendered.

I can imagine how annoying it must feel for a native speaker to have Latinx concept from English language applied to their own in violation of all grammar rules.

Yep which is why that person most likely isn’t even trolling since they have the most insane kind of thinking to the point where you’ll first think they’re trolling or doing some parody or joke but nope they are actually serious.

Isn't "to" for things, not people?

"Miałom" sounds like completely fabricated word (like latinx in english).

They really try hard with this stuff, in languages that are completely incompatible.

What do you want them to do, ask Joe Rogan on what it's like to be trans and help him shape those characters? I don't get the point of this post. Yes, I think Taash is poorly written, but there's nothing indicative from these consultant's bios here that would suggest that (1) they wrote that script and (2) the bios foretold how badly that script would have turned out. All this post does is tell us trans people exist.

With what BioWare produced with the advice from these people, seems like these ‘cultural consultant’ grifters made off like bandits

I agree with everything in that article, but it doesn't actually relate to the point I made. All that poster did was mention that that some trans/non-binary people were consulted. Well, of course they were. Why wouldn't they be? The issue here is who wrote those scenes. As the author points out in the excellent article you shared, the portrayal is almost satirical. So if anything, rationally, I wonder how many of those consultants are actually happy with that portrayal that we ended up with.

So it is possible to totally skip this character? Most of the cut scenes posted only have a few characters in them so is it possible to TOTALLY skip anything at all with each companion or do you have to have them all in your party? And if they are all forced to be in your party, can you just ignore this character to never see this stuff (I hear companion skill progression is linked to their story progression) and still play the rest of the game?

The art direction alone isn't endearing me to this game but if Taash is totally skippable or could at least be a minor character just participating in battles then maybe it would be tolerable. Though who knows, maybe there is enough with this character acting like a normal person to hook me to find out more about her and her mommy issues.

Somebody asked that in Steam and other players said that you HAVE to recruit her but if you dont interact with her and complete her "loyalty mission" you are locked out of the best ending of the game.

But that's standard for Bioware games, is it not? You have to be on good terms with all your companions to get the best ending? At least on ME2 I recall you have to.

Yup, “to” is for things. “Miłom” is 100% fabricated word, but here you get into a discussion between cultural experts “language is constantly evolving” and linguists “bro, what are you smoking”. A few months back there was a huge scandal when one of the most important linguists mentioned the word “dies” in “an animal has died” cannot be the same as referring to a human - “człowiek zmarł” vs. “Pies zdechł”. It cause a huge uproar among animal owners, but linguistically he was of course correct.

In ME2 the endings didn't depend on the loyalty or survival of the members and still you could make unloyal companions survive by playing smart (not giving them responsabilities and giving responsibility to the best squad members).

Is the good ending an orgy? I half expect it at this point.

Well, unless the "best ending" is some sort of massive organization then I think we will all survive :p Does she sacrifice herself for the rest of the group or something? Hard to imagine how getting everyone to call her "them" can affect the world endstate.

As far as I know
if you don't complete her loyalty mission she dies in some kind of suicide mission at the end of the game and if you don't have all the companions alive you are locked out of the good ending

I heard one of the people mentioned on a podcast (DLC I think) and she was completely nuts. Wrote a book on Mario’s arsehole I think. If you get activists on board you get scenes like this, but the game director is trans is she not, so it’s all by design.

I've read comments that it is very hard to make a character that doesnt look like a woman? Can anyone confirm that

I said that DOES NOT. Look like a female. Like it's hard to make a manly looking man.
Sorry, I misread. There are a lot of people who accuse the CC of not being able to make feminine women and I thought you meant that.

As SkillUp has said, male characters look like they came from a Shrek movie. So that's as manly as you can get, I guess.

Honestly I think the faces are fine.

Heres mine. I try to emulate that they could come out of the Vikings show, even has the shaved ponytail on the back. Qunari because it seemed tough to get a good looking Qunari.

Hang on, hang on, hang on, the "NON-BINARY" character, the one that wants EVERYONE to call her a "THEM", then walks around insulting other people, "Calling you what you are" and sees nothing wrong with it? JFC PLEASE tell me you can leave Taash in a puddle of her own vomit somewhere early in the game and NEVER see her again.

Lol the BLATANT hypocrisy is so deliciously ironic because it ALWAYS works out this way lol

Friday Movie GIF

Tasha, "respect my pronouns!" then refuses to call folks by their name, these writers truely suck lol
