Bioshock Infinite | Official Spoiler Thread |

That would honestly add nothing to the game, and he wasted his time. Physicists, especially the quantum type, live in caves and rarely see sunlight, let alone socialize with others. I know because I'm technically one - ever hear of "quantum dots"?

This game was bomb. Very anti-climatic ending - made me a bit irritated because I was about to go kill me some Comstocks. I accidentally read a spoiler by some random douche on neogaf who said "you are prophet and elizabeth kills you at the end", but didn't know what to make of it at the time, and also wasn't sure it was a spoiler. Once you kill comstock in the game, I was 100% convinced I couldn't be him, so it seems spoiling this game for someone would be hard regardless.

I was annoyed with all the lighthouses and the multiple timelines stuff, it made me tired. Some of that stuff could have been cut out. Personally I liked the simpler bioshock 1 story, where the twist comes near the end, but not as the end. I will certainly replay this game because I hardly used some of the vigors, and there is 1999 mode, but overall it's not a great endgame feeling.

*walks away feeling mindfucked*

You are in the minority of one here. Everyone else thinks Bioshock 1 suffered for putting out its hand too early because it made the rest of the game feel like a huge drag.

Sorry if this has been covered, but is there any functional reason for the seat to tip forward in the rocket at the beginning resulting in Booker losing his gun? Security measure for Columbia?

Likely just a way of removing any potential of violence until the baseball incident. Made sense too. Made you feel more vulnerable at the start.

Sounds like you just enjoy simpler things in general.

I have a great game I can reccomend you, it's called of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I heard it's a really video game.

I don't think I've seen this detail covered at all. The theory you present is interesting but it also seems off because the twins do everything for a reason, so why give you a gun you won't even get to use? Maybe, if you didn't have the gun, something else would have fallen out? Can't think of what though.

The box that says property of booker dewiit, with all the stuff about elizabeth and what not perhaps?

Rest of the game felt like a drag because gameplay balance was thrown out the window and the boss/ending were terrible.

Stop with this shit.

There are infinite universes, unless the upon-entry to Columbia baptism is a constant (nothing in-game suggests it is) there are infinite universes where Booker drowns, Booker splutters but lives, Booker kisses the preacher, kicks the preacher in the balls, perhaps in some part of the multiverse Booker is black and they all run away screaming.

"Is it someone ne- AHRGHGGHGH!"

You're right. Other Bookers may well have made it to Columbia without going through baptism.

IIf it makes you feel better I actually looked around on YouTube and didn't find anything. lol, your post wasn't totally ignored.
That's mighty kind of you to try. :)

This is interesting, but I worry they'd go on to watch the whole thing and lose a lot of subtext you'd only get while playing, lol. That's why, ideally, I'll find HD PC footage of just the intro, arrival and fair, one where the player doesn't rush through it, and one where the player doesn't talk.

Stop with this shit.

Stop with what?

The fact he enjoys a plot twist in the middle..which created a broken game with Bioshock 1. A game that had lost all it's sense of pace and momentum. A game that seemingly slapped together an escort mission just for the sake of it, and having you fight a generic mutant fountaine hulk.

Also lets not forget those piss poor endings, that lasted for maybe 2 minutes top in general.

Oh, and lets not forget how the game completely fucked itself by destroying it's idelogy "of a man chooses and a slave obeys." It had a clever message, but one that was all fucked up and ruined when it still made you a slave of the game design even though you broke free from Atlas's mind control reign.

Well the gun sets the scene that violence will be necessary at some point I guess, right? Puts Booker in the right mindset, just like with the dead lighthouse guy. Makes him feel vulnerable, thus makes him more aware of his surroundings and the threats he'll ostensibly face.

I would argue that the game went creatively bankrupt after the twist. They left nothing to the imagination so the average person would no longer care about the world. You showed us the secret to the magic trick so now we are no loner impressed.

Maybe, but the box is so unimportant, is it ever even used again in any way?

Which is a nice red-herring in a way. You can trot around for upwards of an hour in Columbia, seeing nothing violent, until the baseball incident.

The way the game introduces violence, via the skyhook, is very alarming.

I was honestly surprised by the existence of the rule of 3 in this game. It's like Infinite wanted to remind me of the shit that messed up the last stretch of Bioshock, but it wrapped up strong so it was not as offensive.

I don't know, maybe what I quoted?

I have a feeling DatDude is gonna be REALLY irritating in his defense of this game come GotY time...

I don't really see any upcoming worthy competitors.

Last of Us? Perhaps, I feel doubtful after the latest showing, and the whole UC3 diabocle though.

GTA V? If it is San Andreas II it will probably win my vote. If it's GTA IV part 2 then it'll be in my dog shit pile.

Don't know of any other games that can take on what Infinite achieved tbh,

I hope he likes GTAV and Last of Us.

If Rayman Legends is Origins good, every other game might as well fall back

I'm just afraid we might get a repeat of 2011, with Your Highness popping up whenever Portal 2 is mentioned to talk about how brilliant the narrative is and how important it is to the medium and why didn't you vote for Portal 2 don't you know it's great, Portal 2 is so good it retroactively made other puzzle games bad, etc etc

I went on to finish (at least in my initial playthrough) just because I liked Fontaine.

Indies better rule the GOTY voting.

The videos are not fake, but most people think it's just a random ambient sound for that area (the noise repeats periodically), and/or that it's a reused sound asset. It's cool that it's in there but it's not likely intentional, unless Ken Levine can see through Tears.

As said before, it's likely just a generic sound for a whale, that was distorted and turned into Songbird for Infinite. Neat, but not mind-blowing.

No difference. Just the pendant on her neck-band.

It alludes to one of several underlying themes in the game; that the decisions you make ultimately don't matter.

I just sat thinking about that while I was choosing a soda from the vending machine. I'm not really a huge fan of Dr-Pepper do I choose a different flavor in another world? Or is this a constant? My nose is bleeding.

There is another world out there were you strip naked and have sex with the vending machine. Constants and variables

Just a general question that might be a bit off topic.

But do any of you think that multiple universe theories are real?

Do you actually believe there is this person, you, and that are infinite variations of you this person.

Some bad, some good, some neutral. One maybe a rapist? Another maybe a saint?

I mean, I know it's heavily studied stuff and even Einstien had concepts of this being real in theory.

Now, will there ever be a time when we can actually prove this? I mean, one day, thousands of years in the future, could someone realistically build some kind of machine that transports them to different universes (ala fringe?).

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Last of Us will definitely give this game a run for it's money when it comes to GOTY. IMO

There is so much that could go wrong with Last of Us. I hope they nail it as the game looks amazing, but it's a game that needs to be played for me.

What if your constant is a variable? By that I mean, it's a constant that something will always be a variable. Unless the variable is a changing set of constants, but those constants remain constants in that within each of those constants, the different variables remain constant in their variability. Constantly.

Sure. I feel that my alternative reality self is boning a hottie right now. I wish I was there to pat him on the back.

I do believe the concept is real and is currently happening with every single little choice.

I do not believe we will ever be able to prove it or mess with it.

God damn it lol

Phew, just finished the game. Came here after thinking about it for a bit, and holy shit, this thread it impressive. Cleared so much up for me. TOTY.

Just for my two cents on the whole bird vs. cage. Obviously, the bird signifies freedom while the cage signifies imprisonment.......except in the case of Elizabeth where the bird signifies imprisonment (songbird) while the cage signifies freedom (C-A-G-E, the notes to control songbird). Just a fun little thing I guess.

I chose the cage because I feel more trapped than I do free.

It'd be cool if they are collecting stats on some of the choices through XBL or something.

It was a bit jarring when I simply waited during the bird or cage choice, and after a pause, Booker raised a hand to wipe his brow and said, "Fuck you, bitch, we just met."

It's ironic because they didn't just meet. It's funny because Booker was really thinking about how much he wanted to bend her over something
sincest!

i mean or the fact that a bird can fly and she herself was trapped in a cage her entire life! sure same thing (lol)
