Bioshock Infinite |OT| No Gods, Kings, or Irrational Games

Yo Shawn I have nothing to do this weekend due to bio playcation. What are some classic GFW episodes that I should check out?

Lemme look. You also know I did a ton of Irrational podcasts right? They're all evergreen (designed so they wouldn't age immediately).

Steam pre-loads are wonderful, but at the same time they might be the one of the most sadistic and masochistic thing the industry has created.

Like imagine all those lucky people out there who managed to get official console copies today. Now imagine putting the disc into the tray and you get to the start screen, but then you have to wait until MS or Sony flips a switch before pressing start actually does anything.

Those console gamers weren't supposed to be able to get the game early anyways.

These are all good, but I particularly recommend the interview with Guillermo del Toro.

You gonna do any more of these once stuff settles down, Shawn?

Great, now I can't finish. Just don't tell me where this whole pizza delivery plot thread is going. How will this foxy co-ed pay for dude's meat lovers' deep dish?

Maybe I'm just soaking it all in and smelling the roses, but I'm two hours in and
still haven't even met Elizabeth yet. Just got to the Station.

Also, wow at Irrational posters here, hello! This demo you speak of, where/when was it available?

That's exactly where I stopped and I estimate that it took me closer to 3 hours.

Roughly in line for a 10 hour+ playthrough, Shawn?

Yeah I get that... but what affiliation does this have to Games for Windows?

Sorry I'm such an idiot

It was just a branding deal where Computer Gaming World took the GFW name. It turned out to work like a charm since the magazine is alive and selling better than ever to this day.

Move's all charged up. Tempted to switch over...

I'm actually interested in that. No clue why I bought a Move in the first place, but Sports Champions and DS: Extraction was almost worth the price of admission.

Is it really that good for fps? The times I saw people playing on the Wii, it was terrible. That's the only comparison I have and I don't remember if they were using motion plus or not.

Ok so I have just played the first couple of hours of the 360 version and it was absolutely wonderful. The game establishes the world so gracefully and doesn't rush to appease the player at all. I certainly don't want to spoil anything for anyone so I won't talk in any detail but it gave me the same feelings as when I was introduced to City 17 for the first time.

My only major gripe so far is frame rate. You can disable V Sync in the options menu so they obviously know its a problem. Too many enemies and I felt like I was hitting the low 20's which was not great. Also had a few texture pop in issues but thats nothing new as its a UE3 title.

4mb day one patch too which installed before I started.

The thing thats making me want to do an all nighter though is the writing. Story had me hooked in the first ten minutes.

Shawn Elliott, Jeff Green, and the boys were part of Computer Gaming World and had a podcast named CGW Radio. After CGW became Games for Windows: The Official Magazine, the podcast was re-christened "GFW Radio." Most people just called it the (motherfucking) Brodeo.

Ya, the change happened in late 06, right when I started listening to CGWR and 1up Yours!

I didn't realize Woody Harrelson was doing porn.

what is anyone going to use their $30 amazon 2k credit on?

I'm torn between Spec Ops and Mafia II. I've played both, but I've also had a desire to replay both of them. Spec Ops probably has the stronger narrative, but I really love open world games, even if they're somewhat mediocre. It's too bad it only applies to downloads, as the physical copies are cheaper and I could probably get both without spending any money.
