The launcher is probably defaulted to the wrong region (NA vs EU).

Can't wait to have the orange suit from the character creator preview. I can tell I'll spend more time using photoshoot mode than anything else, but isn't that the whole point? :-D

Take into account that half of the outfits in the character creator are from the cash shop (basically the ones that looks more different).

Does anyone know where in calpheon I can learn to make ash plywood?
Once you hit apprentice level 4 in gathering you should get a black spirit quest to go talk to an npc in Heidel that will instruct you to see three different npcs for processing quests. Those will give you the knowledge needed.

All of the beginner quests for life skills are in Heidel.
Anybody on that can invite me to the NA guild? Family name: mims, Character name: Dr_Lock. For anybody on the fence about this game. I am your typical power gamer when it comes to MMOs and so far after a week of playing I have only hit lvl 20. This game has so much to do and the stuff I never touched in other games like the crafting/gathering are actually interesting.

I'm assuming that since I'm only level 20, the crystals I'm getting aren't that good and its no big deal if they end up breaking.
I should really learn to watch out more, though. I've died a couple times by being surrounded and only just noticing one monster is taking off half my health and has the Violent tag above its name.
Also, do the Gift Letter of Repayments actually do anything interesting?
I just have 1 and 2 sitting in my inventory.

So I loaded up the game tonight and I found a castle (Heidel?). I took about 2 paces inside when some NPC runs up behind me and stabs me to death out of nowhere. The game message said "killed by Heidel sentry." WTF? That's the first hostile enemy I've encountered besides summoned bosses, and definitely the first time I've died. And I don't know what I did wrong. I was so upset I climbed the highest mountain I could find and took selfies.
Nope, you pick a class and you can't take skills from any other class. There's a lot of stuff which is account-wide though, and you're encouraged to create alts.
I think it's best to not put Black Desert in a specific genre. It's more sandbox than theme park, but it's very different from just about any sandbox MMO. It's very much its own thing.

Class choice only affects combat, and each class can do everything else in the game. You have 9 "life" skills which are based on various activities (farming, gathering, crafting, training, etc) which increase as you do them (like Ultima Online). And there's stuff which is account-wide (for instance, your "empire" is shared between character, so you'll own the same houses, same farms, and same workers no matter what character you log in with). So it feels very different from other MMOs in that regard.

Surprised to read this. I think it's really subpar compared to, say, FFXIV or PSO2 (already said it multilpe times lol). But I guess it's more fault of the UI design.
If only I could use photomode with the pad I wouldnt stop doing screenshots.
There are so many cool areas in this game. Trina Fort, the Delphe Knight fort, the Anti-Troll fortification, etc. Any are really where it actually feels like a big ass battle is going on with hundreds of soldiers and cannons going off, it's nuts. One of the few times I've really felt like a war was going on in a game.

Yep! that's why I said it's probably more fault about the UI. Gamepad support was added after the game was released so a lot of things weren't planned to be used with a controller, like XIV.

I'm still in Velia, though I'm about to move to Heidal. Definitely lagging behind everyone but still having fun with the game haha

Some people just rush things, now I am in Calpheon atm, JUST to get a house and storage building, but I'm still in Heidel, Gilsh grinding/questing.
Yeah I run to Velia almost everyday because I have yet to move my craft stuff to any other city (still working on a Ferry, almost there). It takes like 5 minutes running if you go across the mountain .
Hell, I still have some quest to complete there (and lots of them in Heidel).

I'm gonna do my migration soon. I've already uninvested in a bunch of nodes to Oliva and have moved those points into Storage and some craft places in Heidal. Once my ferry finishes and I finish some more quests in the Velia area I'll get everything moved over. That's part of the reason I've delayed, I want to get everything migrated in one swoop.
