God no, it's horrible. Time played: 100 hours.
In other news, I had my first PVP encounter yesterday when some random Valkyrie attacked me out of the blue when I was catching ducks for a daily quest. Stunned me, hit me a couple of times for some meager damage, then when I broke free I dodged pretty much everything he threw at me but at the same time I couldn't hit him to save my life so I just sorta walked away. This is going to be fun, but damn I need some training, fighting other players is so completely different from decimating mobs.

Hi everyone. I am very interested in buying this. Everything I have read so far suggest that it is a return to the good old days of MMORPGs (see first years of Everquest).
However, I only have a Macbook and I am not sure how well the game is going to run on my laptop (I have a Windows partition). I would very grateful if anyone has an extra guest pass so I can try the game before I commit. Otherwise, is anyone playing it in a Macbook late 2013 (Nvidia GT 750M) or has an idea how it performs?

I'm an hour in now - first impressions:
+ The graphics are lovely, if a little dark - had to turn up the gamma somewhat.
+ It's done a pretty good job of explaining movement so far.
+ The game moves along at a really fast pace.
+ Combat is huge fun. Very, very enjoyable.
- I have no idea what skills to go for - I can already choose from five different learnable ones
- Some stuff seems to have no explanation whatsoever. For example I have no idea what nodes are, only that I'm missing previous ones.
Overall it's been great so far. I might pause a bit at this guard camp I'm in and look to go back and talk to people rather than follow the questline just now. Also, how would I apply for the EU guild?

Nodes are some of the most confusing things this game has to offer. Lots of guides on YouTube and such, and once you get it, it's ez, but it's not explained and totally confusing.I'm an hour in now - first impressions:

Don't worry about skills and skill points. You get a free total reset at level 45, so invest in whatever you think looks cool.
The darkness of the graphics is intended at night. It was actually worse in beta. They had it like Dragon's Dogma, now it's just "ehh hard to see".
Yeah, I had to read a guide on the whole conversation aspect as there didn't appear to be anything to tell me how it works in game.
Taking a break now for some lunch but I'm very much enjoying it so far. Went through every skill on the list to understand what each one does and generally plan out where I want to go with it as I level.
It's definitely grabbing me more than Blade and Soul did, that's for sure
this honestly has the most hilariously terrible and confusing introduction to any game I've played since Planetside 2 in its early days. And that game started you off by throwing you headfirst into the largest battle it could find on the server with no explanation whatsoever.

The "..." filter is for repeatable quests, I believe.
Lol that's exactly how my experience went at first. I actually like having to learn things on my own without having my hand being held for everything. Been forever since I played an mmo that just drops you in the world and says go.

There's quests in Velia that are supposed to guide you through some of the crafting stuff, but I never ended up picking them up.
No worries, I'm mostly just faffing about anyway. What are guilds for exactly anyway? I was in a guild for the month I played FF14 but I didn't really pay it much attention. Did enjoy contributing to their airship fund and seeing that complete though.

I've played over 200 hours, 90% of that is from AFK fishing and trading
I'm kinda split on the game
I Hate Hate Hate the lack of free armor options
But I Love Love Love Doing Trade Runs
I hate that there's lifespan on boats, wagons don't bother me as much since the farm wagon is only 180k and you can buy that at a stable. It's just that boats are very expensive and the fishing boat has a lower lifespan than a ferry lol
farming doesn't seem to be as important in this game like it was in archeage
alchemy seems kind of pointless (imo)

The blue. red, and green regions are what we have at the moment.
Some of the islands above those regions too.
We are expecting yellow area "Mediah" to drop this Wednesday actually (weekly maintenance day), as the devs promised a massive update before the end of he month...

Even when equipped with a lantern? I thought it was awesome that you must use a lantern at certain times to be able to see anything.

It was actually in the middle of the day. Even with the gamma up a bit it's nice and dark during the night, or the rainstorm that's going on now.

Ugh man, this game is so massive. It's a bit overwhelming at times lol. I think that they could definitely work on the tutorials and wiki, because I was on the verge of quitting. I ended up just having to google most stuff and now I'm getting the hang of it.
With that aside, the game has been a wonderful treat in terms of MMOs. I haven't felt this engrossed in an MMO since early day WoW.. There are a lot of things I'd love for them to work on, but they definitely created a game that has an amazing foundation and can become somthing special if taken in the right direction.

Wow, there's just invisible walls randomly at the edge of the playable area? They could have at least had a message or something but I just smacked my face on it and keep doing so trying to mine east of Heidel. That's frustrating.

If you're on Orwen (Calpheon 01), I would recommend not changing channels. I just switched to Valencia 02 for a node and my character got locked in place once loaded and then the channel crashed. I logged back in and it said I was barred from everything with a 1 hour queue (instead of the usual 15 minutes).
I can only connect to Valencia 02 and every time I reconnect (if the connection doesn't fail) it just kicks me out, constantly reloads every 10 seconds, or disconnects. I think I'm stuck until this 1 hour queue is up.

Pretty much ignored the game, mostly thanks to the class system setup. But pre-purchased anyway, because that's just the kind of guy I am. Just wasn't in the mood to actually boot the thing up so far.

Do you have to be a certain level to do those Calpheon Daily quests? I made the long trek over there (I wanted to connect the nodes to sell fish from the hotspot), and then there are absolutely no quests to be found.
That will be expanded in the Mediah update so you can travel further east.
Yeah, some sort of lore tie in would have been nice. Have the black spirit interrupt you and push you back or something, saying you're not ready yet. Though I say this as someone who hasn't completed the current story so I have no idea if that is lore friendly.
Sorry, went off to see Batman v Superman. I'll try to get you tomorrow. I'll play at morning a little and afternon to night (have the day free).
Btw, I reached lvl 44.... dunno what to do now lol (I mean, jumping to 45 and start the PvP world or do other shit)
