Black Desert Online |OT| Come on in, the sand's fine [Mediah Update]

Quick question: Does residential Housing have any ingame affect? I get storage, workshops etc. But what about your residence, decorating it Etc. Does that have any impact on gameplay or it just nice to have?

Cooking and alchemy workshops can be built in your house allowing you to make stuff yourself. Also some housing items can give buffs. Sleeping in a bed boosts energy gain rate.

To build up strength for the backpack, must people will do a short auto path and usually stay within a single safe area.

As for catching fish, I have a Balenos rod at +8 so that has 90 durability. If you get an Epheria rod to +10 it will have 150 durability

Vyr's warrior has the strongest pair of legs in NA servers!

Hi guys. I'm looking for a new mmo to play. If anyone can PM a guest pass that be awesome.

I would like to try it out, unsure if its for me though, I like PVE dungeons / Bosses etc and not PVP so don't think game is probably right for me but want to give it a chance.

Your housing score also dictates whether or not you can engage in high level investment with a city's bank. Namely, you have to have a rank 1(!) House somewhere in the city in order to invest large sums of up to 100 million. This means you need as much high score furniture as you can shove into your house, I.e. pay to win.

I've heard it isn't worth the effort, but I've also seen houses with like 40 jukeboxes in them so I'm sure some people make a lot of money off interest doing this.

I use it mostly to craft items using utensils since you can only place them in a residence. And if you have a bed, you can recover energy up to 3 times as fast.

im downloading this game again just to see if this GTX1080 could run this game in ultra with 1080p and get 60 frames.

My 780 was being chocked by this game.

Thought the game was more so CPU dependent????

What is your CPU btw?

considering this game for a while now, do i need the mount that comes with the $50 version?

I've been considering this game too as well. Not really an "if", but more so a "when" at this point. Kinda waiting on the best deal right now.

considering this game for a while now, do i need the mount that comes with the $50 version?

  • Tier 3 Horse
  • Horse Flute (Permanent)
  • Pet of choice
Those plus an extra month of the value pack are what you get for an extra $20.

The horse is pretty worthless to be honest, you can tame a tier 3 in the wild within your first couple hours of the game, and if you don't want to tame one yourself you can pick up a low tier horse on the horse market for peanuts.

The flute is not really game-breaking, but I find it super useful. Calling your mount from 300 meters away is a nice time saver. If you decide to buy it later it is $15.

The pet is great, if you decide to stick with the game you are going to want 4 pets eventually and they go for around $8-$10 on the cash shop.

The extra month of the value pack you get would run you $15, and having got a taste of it I'll probably keep paying for it once my free months expire.

Soooo, if you've used a guest pass already and gotten a feel for the game and think you might want to stick around a while I would say the $50 version is definitely worth it.

Anyone has a 7 day pass and doesn't need it anymore? Because I am highly interested in this game, but still not clear if I will like it.

Just rage quit this game because I couldn't figure out how to summon a mount. Have whistle. Three horses in the stable and zip. No icon in the upper left corner like guide say there should be. 45 minutes asking in chat. nada. It shouldn't be that hard.

That's what broke me. Everything in this game is harder than it should be. Take a fucking UI class guys.

Flute is only when a horse is already out on the field. No icon on the top means no horse is out and thus needs to be released from a stable. Need to get a horse from the stable taken out. Flute is to bring a horse thats far away from you to you.

Finally got my tamer to 50. Tamer is so much more fun to play than my Witch. I felt like there was almost no combat variation for Witch. I'd throw my fireball, lightning and do the follow up to both, and that's about it. I probably wasn't playing it well, but I feel like there's a ton more interactivity in fights with Tamer. It's harder for sure, but it's so much more exciting. I also love the ink aesthetic. Easily one of my favorite mmo classes i've played. Now the true grind begins.

Did you take it out of the stable? When you're at the stable you stored it in you click on the mount you want and hit "take out". If it's already out, you'll see an icon in the upper left, you can right click on the icon to have it draw a path to your mount.

Edit: Beaten by Wynd.

After getting my duo helmet, top and long sword downgraded to pri, I think I'm just about done with this game.
All that time farming hard/sharp shards, black stones, silver gone to waste in the span of less than 20 minutes.

Take a breather and maybe stop for awhile at DUO. The TRI upgrade is a broken slot machine.

I've given up on first or even second tier gear and am just going to float along as a dirty casul. the game is more fun playing in short bursts after large content updates, going for the high upgrades and getting boss gear is too damn hard.

Ran my first boss scroll today: Fearful Witch Summon Scroll

Got my first reward bundles ever as well.

First two bundles I open contain what? Witch's Earrings

So awesome.

That sucks, I'm just kind of chilling leveling alts to 56 that have awakenings I want to try. I'm honestly not sure what keeps me playing this game all I do is grind sausans lol.

Didn't login yesterday as I got home late, though usually I do login just to get daily rewards.
Going to take a break for a few days and see how it goes.

I seem to have... no mobs spawning for me. I'm running around trying to do a couple kill quests and there are literally no mobs anywhere.

Should get level 49 during the night with AFK fishing and tomorrow I should reach level 50 during the evening.

Took me around 11 days so far and I'm having a blast so far.

Damn Mint, sorry to hear bro. Hopefully the break will help you recharge. If there is anything I can do let me know. You can rub my head/belly for good luck :)

PSA this is important.
Greetings Adventurers,

Today we are writing you to provide insight into a new mechanic you can expect to see next week, following the normally scheduled maintenance. After detailed discussions with the Developers at Pearl Abyss, it has been decided that the Value Package, Outfits, Costumes and Pets will be made available via the Market Place. We, the Kakao Team, understand the impact of such a change and wish to provide as much information as possible, therefore we are explaining this change in advance to grant clarity.

We understand that this change will spark discussions, and have asked Pearl Abyss to share their thoughts behind this decision. Pearl Abyss considers in-game accessibility to Pearl Items necessary in Black Desert. Regardless of the region, there will always be players who, for whatever reason, do not get to experience all the features Black Desert offers, including Pearl Shop Items. Adding a mechanic that grants access to Pearl Shop items with in game currency will allow more players to enjoy such content. They are open to the community’s feedback and ask you to share your thoughts and concerns about this change.

I feel like Pearl Abyss placed Duam in a tight spot. They tried to hold it off but ultimately what Pearl Abyss says goes.

that's how I feel too, honestly.

this game was designed to be F2P from the outset. I think B2P was an experiment for the western market, but it will ultimately become F2P like the KR, RU and JP versions.

Can someone please explain to me how that is Pay2Win?

Dont have the game yet (and now I probably never will), but if they can sell cash shop items... this usually means that all the whales will buy them just to sell them at outrageously high prices for in game gold. THUS being able to buy high end gear that others have to work for.

basically; destroys economy by making it for "THE RICH ONLY". I feel like this game might become f2p. I guess then I will give it a try... and then quit. Def not going to buy to play, and then have to p2w on top of that.

Best way to play any MMO, especially f2p mechanics.

Never ever play the rush to the top game. It's expensive, grindy and a waste of time. You're better off taking your time and just stay a tad behind where it's way cheaper getting all the stuff that's pretty good and you don't need to compete at the top level. Play the long game and just take it easy.

Even with these changes it doesn't change how my game experience will turn out. I'd rather play the game long term and be able to show off limited time event stuff which may be uber in the process than rush to the top, burn out, and end up getting overtaken by said long term slow player a few patches down the line due to power creep.

Pretty much this. I plan on playing casually and enjoying my time with the game. Even with the recent announcement, it is limited to 18 million silver per item, and only five items per week. I don't think it's particularly game breaking nor too different from what is on the market at present. As it stands, BDO provides the best experience in this genre for me, and I'm in no rush. There's nothing standing between me and my enjoyment of what this game provides.

Where are you getting that number? And it is fine if you want to play the game that way, but I also want to play it a certain way. For a game that has a number of systems built around PvP and relies as heavily as it does on gear, this is a shitty move.

It wouldn't be half as bad if they didn't make this game b2p in order to not make the game p2w and then 4 months later renege on that.

This sucks, i'll see how it plays out before I totally quit, I've been fine with all the other things they've added even the value pack, but this is obviously P2W and goes against their whole approach for the western market they kept telling us wouldn't be P2W like other regions.

And that is the excuse they used for ours being B2P and for the cash shop being so expensive. If they were going to do this from the start they should have been F2P.

I suppose NA/Euroland version's b2p model didn't attract enough user base to make it financially sustainable. In today's MMO climate, guess it's the only way to attract users and survive in NA. Announce it as b2p, recoup ad, initial server setup costs, etc. then turn to f2p to maintain profitability.

I'll keep at it until I start to fall asleep while playing. Then I know it's time for me to move on to another game. ;d

Didn't they release a financial statement saying they sold 1 million copies or something along those lines. That with the fact that they said they were happy with how the cash shop was going and people are spending more than your average cash shop game. B2P is looking more and more like a cash grab. We'll see what happens on Wednesday, but it looks like I am done with the game.

“A game with a buy-to-play business model normally has a much lower conversion rate for paid in-game items compared to free-to-play games,” said Kim. “But Black Desert Online is recording a much higher pay ratio than the average 11 percent normally seen in free-to-play games.”

Yet it's not enough, apparently.
