When the store opened up @5AM for 2008, 2009 I was #1, #3 in line
2010 & 2011 when the store opened up @12AM, I was #1, #13 in line
I usually got there @10AM during 2008, 2009, and 9AM during 2010
2011 I was there @6AM and 12 people were ahead of me, they were there since Wednesday night @9PM
Well it was due to that Sharp 42" 1080p LCD for $199.99
Most likely I will be in line again @6AM =/

local news tonight (Sunday) was showing clips of one of our local best buy with a couple tents in line already. New record here, I saw them on monday last year. I cannot come up with any good reasoning for people doing this. You are not saving that much money or worth that much time off from work. And if you aren't working why the hell are you spending money on stuff like this. If you are ebaying you can't possibly be making that much on the bigger ticket items they are discounting. They are not hot, rare items, just items at a bigger discount that people weren't buying in the first place thats why the stores discounted them.

Looking to replace my old 26" Sharp LCD about now. How have the trends and brand preference changed? Basically looking for the same size, but LED for the slim value and 1080p, but 60Hz. Best Buy lures me because of the points, but what else is good?

Next year when the onslaught of Super OLED and 4K push starts to come through @ CES, LCD/Plasma's will be going extinct (Panasonic & Sharp ; ; RIP), LED will be norm and those mentioned earlier will be the luxury line
From everything I've ever heard, they used very low quality cameras during most of Chuck's run. I do own season's 1 and 2 (the golden age of Chuck
) on Blu-Ray and the sheer amount of film grain in almost every shot is distracting. Having said that, the transfer has to look better than the DVD alternative, and it's the best transfer we're ever likely to get.Edit: Reading reviews, they shot mostly on 16mm film. The grain is never going away without digital noise reduction, which would cause more problems than it would solve. Even if they wanted to give us a better transfer, they probably couldn't.
It's pretty bad, but it's no worse than it was live on TV. I'd pay $10-$15 at most for a season (I paid full price for S1-S2 to keep the show going, but that is no longer a concern obviously).

For $300 definitely not but you can probably get something that will play those games at decent settings for around $600-700 online. Check the gaming laptop thread

Last year I also got good deals from Holister.
Jesus, these crazy motherfuckers ruin Black Friday for everyone. Waiting outside a store an entire week for deals that aren't that amazing is ridiculous, especially when you consider the social implications of such an act. As someone said, the only people who can do this are the unemployed or students, and the act of camping outside 5 days for a few hundred off electronics says a lot about their character.

I might go to Best Buy at midnight to pickup a Samsung 7" tablet. I have already gotten one from Walmart for $10 more. The only reason I go to Best Buy is i want to white version and I like the ritual. I can't feel the holiday if I order everything online.

Yeah...but...think of us retail workers who have to deal with this? Black Friday is our personal nightmare. Lot of people up and quit or get fired. Even the nicest of Managers becomes hard and crazy. When I worked at Borders, my manager went ballistic on a new hire for screwing up on the register.
he didn't get much if any training, still manager was having a meltdown, and customers were yelling at him. I can't imagine how bad it'd be at bigger places. I work at Gamestop, and have to work Black Friday. A few idiots are camped out.

I worked at power utility company. My person nightmare is just over (Hurricane Sandy). I know what you mean. My advise to you is try to get out of retail.

Is blu-ray.com the best place to find movie deals? I don't like how Amazon has all of their lightning deals in one place rather than in specific pages like last year. At least I've already ordered 3 thanks to this thread.
