Blazblue Continuum Shift EXTEND |OT| - Now with New Hat

Doesn't it have cross platform play?

Nope, just cross saves.

Just got my Vita today. Does anyone have Extend for the Vita? If so how is it? I'm debating between this and Marvel.

If you plan on doing the story, I'd put the Vita version above the console one due to how nice the portraits look on the Vita screen. The actual gameplay is pretty much 1:1.

I need someone to get the Vita trophies with, get BB instead of Marvel.

sweet, I'll pick up BB then. Is it still 40 bucks or has it gone down in price?

Does Arakune do the highest dmg in the game? Watching Souji get at least 6k dmg off of pretty much any hit whether midscreen or in the corner makes me wonder.

Probably in terms of how often you'll see 7k+ combos.

I'm sure other players can match the output situationally, but Arakune hits combos like that all the time.

Arakune's curse-free damage is terrible. His curse damage is the highest in the game for sure, but I would say that in an average match, Hakumen gets more per hit.

I just got this game. I used to own CT but didn't have time to play so traded it in. Loved the graphics though.

So what's recommended to get some practice? I'm mainly interested in playing story mode, will I have a lot of trouble? I'm not that great at fighters but love the characters usually so I play 'em.

If you just want to play story mode, you don't really need to practice. Just set the CPU to a difficulty setting you're comfortable with and have fun.

True, but I may just play normal so I won't be bored and also since I'd probably need to have practice to get some trophies afterwards.

Ok, then . . .

The two best ways to practice are to go into training mode and become more familiar with whatever characters you plan on using, and, playing against other people.

If you're not familiar with your characters there's little point in playing against other people; if you want to win, anyway. So, start with training mode. Try dustloop.com for finding info for whatever characters you're planning on using. The three things you want to get familiar with are basic movement (running, jump, dashing), your movelist (normals, specials, supers), and combos. For combos, just start with the easiest one you can manage. And one should be enough to start.

What you want from a combo is something you can do every time. If you're not good at fighters and are the mashy type, then hopefully when you're in the middle of a match mashing, you'll start mashing out your combo as opposed to just random buttons.

If you're on PSN and want to play sometime, I'm usually down for matches.

Cool, I'll let you know! Thanks. :)

Finally got around to trying a BlazBlue tittle... and CS 2 on PSP was my opportunity.
Amazing game, my only main right now is Platinum, she's a great character. I was surprised that Combos are easy to do after a little practice, also the story mode is really cool, was not expecting that much story in a fighting game.

Bought this on the Vita for £9, awaiting delivery. Never played the series for any substantial length of time before, looking forward to it.

Does anyone have a suggested character for someone who likes defensive/counter-attack based styles? I understand there are penalties for being too defensive (too many back-steps without moving forward, and such) but hopefully there is some character who fits the bill.

Hakumen sounds like it'd be your type. Limited movement, high damage, based on reading opponents.

Got the game yesterday, think it's absolutely gorgeous.

I'm sure most newcomers experience the overwhelming feeling when beginning, but the tutorial has been a fantastic resource. Is it advisable to do story mode before the arcade mode? I noticed the arcade description says you can play through their individual stories. Or should I start with the story mode? Just looking for a decent mode to enjoy and learn the game before heading online.

This is your first experience with the series? You are in for a real treat.

I'd recommend starting off with arcade to find a character you are comfortable with. The dialogue and details are scarce compared to story mode, but it's easy enough to follow what is going on. Prepare to have your mind blown by story mode's beautiful drawings and nice music. I had practically zero experience with the visual novel style of story telling until BB. They really go into the nitty gritty there and the joke endings will definitely get a laught out of you.

Awesome, thank you! I've ran through arcade mode with Hakumen and Jin so far, I've tackle a couple more before moving onto the story mode. Really looking forward to it, as I do enjoy visual novels.

Also love the long main menu, much better having access to all of the modes from one screen.

You should main Rachel. There could never be enough Rachel players.

I'm working on PS2 stuff, but I'm always down for BB at a moment's notice.

hmmm I might actually consider playing the game on PS3 again then, just so there'll be less of a learning curve when CP hits. Currently only play it on my Vita.

Why is Extend so reviled anyway? Other than the fact that it was an overpriced expansion?

Great deal for anyone new to the series, grumblegrumbleohfine for people like me who own the originals.

I got my money's worth out of it just to keep my favorite fighter going, as well as the new stories and Relius.

I play, too!

But no one ever wants to play in here.
We don't play because the game is ass and the vast majority of the players have left for greener pastures. I will probably play again when the next revision hits, though.

For whomever asked about why people don't play any more, the simple answer is that the game is fair but dull which combined poorly with ASW leaving it high and dry by announcing yet another revision with no console date. No one wants to play an outdated fighter, and even less people want to play an outdated fighter that's not particularly good.

Man now y'all making me not want to buy it haha

I'd say best thing to do is buy it when BBCP gets a release date in your region so you'll be more motivated to play the game, unless you're just in it for the story.Right now, who knows when CP will release.(Im thinking it'll probably be summer of next year)

That's what i want to do, but its between this and skullgirls so I was already on the fence. It really doesn't bother me that its outdated since I can't play the new version so its basically out of site out of mind. Guess i'll continue to watch some vids to see if i want it.

No one outside of Japan has reason to care, since that's the only place Chrono Phantasma is out.

Go with Skullgirls, then.
