BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II |OT| The Sequel Blue Me Away

At least sixty. I don't have an exact number. Brackets took a long time.

I really only play online now for matchup experience. My local scene is heavily skewed towards certain characters (Tager, Rachel, Platinum, Valk, Ragna/Jin) and heavily against others (Tsubaki, Lambda, Litchi... *cough*). So if I want to play against any of those characters, I have to play online, or travel 600km to lose to Vice-Taicho.

It's not that great though, because I'm still pretty bad at the Litchi matchup.

That's too bad about your disc, but it's nice to see someone still interested in the game. It seems like every post I read here is nothing but hate, hate, hate for a game people aren't even playing.

I think I'll end up getting it, too. I really don't want to wait until sometime next year to be able to play.

We can play tonight if you're not playing D4 ;).

Are you planning to import Fugu? You seem to be playing a lot lately.
I'm importing it, yes. I imported CS and CT. The game would look/sound pretty strange to me in English. I also don't particularly want to wait for it to come here. I play pretty much every day, by the way. Just not very much online. I have no tolerance for the purple grabs and dumb resets.

On that note, Q, I would play you, but it's a waste of time. Litchi's combos are just about impossible with any delay and there's no shortage when I play you.

That was fun Solune. The lag wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be either. xD

I really need to learn how to do a combo or something.
The lag was alright after the first 2 games, played pretty smooth, but I got put on p'd on xD. And that one combo in the corner was pretty good, did like 4k+ or something.

Just do what I did and learn how to hitconfirm everything into something. You'll get a lot more mileage out of that than learning how to do a full bnb off of only one opener. It'll also make actually hitconfirming a lot easier.

1800 off of a comboable throw? Really?

Also Noel still gets 5k in the corner off of a plain hit (3C) with no meter. Damage appears to be on the up and up in this version.

EDIT: That houtenjin combo is crap though.

So basically Litchi appears to have no good combos in this version and bad knockdown. The last time that happened was CS1. I think it is safe to say that Litchi will once again be ridiculously batshit top tier in this version.

Carl vs. Relius theme is my favorite.

Unless Aksys says anything by Dec. 17th, I shall be importing the shit out of CSEX. I don't enjoy the story mode or English VA, so that is not a concern if it ends up like Japanese BBCS without any English options.

What's so great about them? Isn't Play-Asia the standard? As you can see, I don't import often.

from my understanding amiami charges by yen so when you pay via paypal, paypal will do the conversion for that day. It'll be whatever the going rate for yen to USD is that day.

The main import sites i know of are Play-asia, ncsx, amiami, japanvideogames.

I ordered from ncsx, but they are expensive. I think my price is 98.00 or something. I order from them because they are NY based so i get my game one day after ncsx receives the games.

play-asia is pretty cheap though

$74.49

amiami

http://www.amiami.jp/shop/?set=engl...-1112&template=default/product/e_display.html

4950 yen = $64.54 (using today's rate)

amiami does use EMS shipping. I think EMS shipping is slow though so don't expect the game anytime soon.

This + Gundam Extreme Vs. makes December a pricey import month for me. I couldn't imagine if I were getting a Vita too.

yep it does... maybe 2 weeks of full on Gundam and then couple weeks later some CSEX. now i have to find time to juggle both!

I wonder, if the 3 DLC characters hadn't been offered on consoles at all, and just Japanese Arcade exclusives, and there were no free CSII DLC update, would people have complained about that, and then happily bought Extend? Or maybe they would have been happy because they hate DLC?

The article phrases it poorly but there is a date; it's matching the Japanese Vita(and by proxy console, since they're simultaneous) release date. So CSEX will hit NA PS360s on December 17th.

The CSEX Vita release is what doesn't have a NA date yet.

See, I doubt that, because December 17th is a Saturday, and games in North America are typically released on Tuesdays.

That's a good point... I would say maybe the Saturday is a online retail only date, but that sounds like it would sour one's relationship with B&M chains.

I didn't see our resident Aksys rep disputing the date in the announcement thread, but it wasn't a topic of discussion either. Hmm.

HUUUGE noob here, I have an embarrassing question for y'all. My cousin is owning me with Noel (I'm using Ragna) and I'm basically finished once he does his drive moves and corners me... Is there any way to break free from those (seemingly) endless combos? I did that burst thing with a 4 face buttons to push him off but it seems to only work once a round. Thanks... :(

Find out what makes him start swinging: If you dash up to him, does he start mashing D? What happens if you jump towards him? This is important, you can't really win without that knowledge. Once you figure that out, get him to start attacking, but make sure you're out of his range when you do so that his attacks whiff (you don't want to be blocking). Then, just wait for him to stop (the safest place to do this is in the air -- Noel has a free crossup, a decent overhead and a command grab... thing while in drive). Once he does, go to town. Noel's drive moves have a major caveat: If you whiff with them, you must eventually stop attacking, and the second you do, you have a ton of recovery, during which you are free to get hit. The reason that a lot of players struggle with Noel early on (and even later on) is that almost all of her drive moves have some kind of invulnerability, which basically means your moves will go right through her. It is definitely possible to punish her moves while she's doing them, but it is far easier and far safer just to wait for her to stop and then fuck her up afterwards. Note that if he starts his pressure with non-D moves (like he should), things are quite a bit more difficult to deal with from this approach.

The other thing that you should pay attention to in this matchup is that you outrange her by quite a bit. Don't run up to her: make her get to you so that all you have to do to stop her from approaching is press the drive button (seriously, Ragna's 5D will catch everything on the ground except optic barrel for obvious reasons if you time it right). If she starts to get frustrated and begins using drives to get in, dash backwards (IAD if you can) and wait for her to stop. You have an even larger range advantage in the air; many Noel players make this up by jabbing people out of their air-to-air attacks, so make sure you give yourself more than enough distance, and if you think your opponent is going to jump, input your attack super early after getting of the ground.

You should also be aware of your reversal, if you're not already. If you are in the corner, knocked down, and the opponent winds up for an attack, input 623C. It is the best DP in the game and beats basically every meaty clean. You can do this basically any time you think that your opponent is going to attack you and you are not in blockstun (ie currently blocking an attack). Don't do this every time, however, as if your opponent is predicting it you will be very, very hurt.

You should also consider the possibility that there is a large skill difference between you and the Noel player and that maybe you just need to spend some time in training mode. Having not seen you play, I can't really judge.

EDIT: Oh, also, if you're blocking and you don't like the situation you're in (say, you're in the corner) and you have 50 heat, input 6+AB. It will kick him off of you and give you space.
