Bleach Manga |OT| Return of the King

So I haven't followed this manga in what feels like 7 years. Is it safe to assume only about 2 pages of actual plot have transpired in that time? I got bored off my ass around the time Ichigo was babysitting some hollow kid who magically turns into a huge breasted woman

~15 chapters would be more like it. You at least need to read how the whole Aizen conundrum finished, what is this current arc about + The flashback of how Ichigo came to exist.

This apparent love for Grimmjow mystifies me. But so does the Aizen adoration so oh well ...

Didn't Ichigo finish him off though ? I've to go back a bit to see how big of an asspull this is. -_-

Shit I completely forgot about Neliel? If she is still alive she will probably appear too. Halibel is also supposed to be alive IIRC.

I swear she already did ? When Ichigo went to the Espada land for a short while. I was catching from where the anime ended so it's a bit of a blur but I think she was there.

I think she appeared when Ichigo went to Mexico and fought Kirge; back when Grimmjow was first teased.

I can see it now: the final battle will be everyone from the series vs. Yhwach. They will probably find a way to summon characters from the realm of the double-dead to get Gin, Ulquiorra, Yamamoto, and some others in there, too. Everyone will be there.
Except Tatsuki.

No one will do anything meaningful, but we're going to get tons of panels where we can't tell wtf is happening. And then Ichigo will beat Yhwach.

I'm 99% sure [Nanana] basically just tipped Aizen off to how the chair/Muken restraint works, which is why Aizen is chilling until Shunsui and co depart. He will be free soon.
I like how Aizen dances around Shunsui's question:
- Can't move anymore, can you?
- It'd be funny if I said I could...

Between Kon and Grimmjow it's like someone grabbed Kubo by the ankles and shook him until unused characters came out. We knew Grimmjow would be back but I hoped that reveal would come mid-fight instead of mid-lull. Hopefully he's not just here to job.

I wonder how many more chapters Aizen will remain in the chair. I'm still hoping for chair rockets to take him to the palace.

It's Bleach. There are like two dozens ways to bring him back somehow.

Doubly so now that we've seen the one captain revived via his name being said. There's that mechanism, zombification, Orihime's heal, etc.

I don't think he'll be back but it wouldn't be the craziest thing to ever happen.

It actually makes "sense" (in a Bleach context, at least) to bring back Grimmjow right now. Since Ichigo and company have to use their reiatsu to create steps to get up to the Royal Palace, they are defenseless against even fodder on their way up (what? New mechanics at this stage?). Now would be the perfect time for someone like Grimmjow, who is probably strong enough to handle a few throwaway jobbers but too weak to fight anyone of consequence, to show up and act as Ichigo's escort to the Royal Palace.

Isn't Gin actually shown dead?

Grimmjow was defeated but Ichigo never killed him "on screen".

Ichigo never even knocked him unconscious, Espada #5 did.

I mostly want Gin back because his character arc was never resolved. We never find out why Aizen was experimenting on his friend, and why Gin felt the best way to stop him was to slowly gain his friendship over hundreds of years only to backstab him when he's at his most invincible. Did he really only learn about Perfect hypnosis weakness watching the Yamamoto fight?

No. Noitora(?- eye patch espada that Kenpachi wrecked by using two hands...) cut Grimmjaw down. Never heavily hinted that he died or anything.

I was just watching the anime back then so I don't know how the manga handled this, but I felt like Kubo messed up his arc. His relationship with Matsumoto wasn't well explored too.

no bleach this week ?

No. It's Golden Week (a holiday) in Japan.

Edit: Though let me take a jab at what the next chapter entails.

- braindead conversation about why Grimmjow is there
- Aizen is still in the chair
- everyone else is still building the door

Sounds about right.

Yeah, Nnoitra KO'd Grimmjow, and Grimmjow now has the scar from when he was almost decapitated.

Gin knew how to stop KS for a while, but he waited until Aizen was evolving because at that moment Aizen ceased being Aizen. You see, actual Aizen wouldn't have been stabbed in the back; it wouldn't be possible with the level of intellect and strategic ability he always had. Gin said it himself, even if you set the perfect trap and were all around skilled, it would be useless to attack the guy. Same reason Urahara hit Aizen with those kidou after he absorbed the hogyoku, but didn't try anything like that earlier.
Aizen is Aizen

Gin's story and motives are done, Tousen is the one who got robbed. :(

I'm disappointed we never got a proper Hell arc. The movie didn't do much for me, didn't have that Kubo flare. Though the six Fullbringers were badass, so glad we got that arc.

Be prepared to defend yourself.
He's got nothing to defend. FullBringers had some entertaining powers and personalities. They were and are far better developed characters than every quincy in this arc aside from Ichigo and Ishida.

Tsukishima vs Byakuya, Ikkaku vs fist dude, and Ice boy vs PSP were all entertaining fights.
