Soooo...I've been playing for about five hours and beat the first two bosses, but I've been wondering why I'm not doing that much damage. Then I come to find out that my right handed weapon is equiped in the 2nd slot........_.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess it doesn't matter what slot my primary is in???
Nope. Make sure to upgrade your weapon in the Hunter's Dream; generally an under-upgraded weapon is the reason your damage is low.

You can upgrade your weapons. Also, pay attention to which attribute your weapons scale with.

You have to see what atributtes your weapon is scalling more. You can see that by the letter under the stats.
For exemple, the Hunter Axe scales better with Power atributte, so focus on that over Skill.

Chalice Coop question- -

I did some research -- is this a correct summary to do coop with another gaffer?

We both must have created a Defiled (or whichever we're doing) tombstone.

1) I set my defiled chalice to 'public'
2) I give partner my chalice's glyph
3) He goes to defiled tombstone and uses 'search by glyph'
4) We both load into the dungeon, then ring as per normal

That will work, right?

If we both need to complete Defiled, do we have to beat each boss twice so that we each get the clear as host?

Do we need to do any of the 'obscure password' stuff that helps in the actual game to get a specific partner or is the fact that it's chalice good enough to not worry about passwords?

Who's idea was it to make it so that you only have 70% health whenever you get summoned, it makes no sense lore wise, or gameplay wise, the game would not magically become super easy if I had that 30% extra health. Sometimes it feels like they actively discouraged co-op and pvp.

All steps are correct. You will have to beat the boss twice.

Would anyone like to help me fight the boss of Yaharghul? I'm in front of the fog gate right now, level 73. I died last time when it puked all over me.

Sorry if this goes in community or something. I didn't really see athread.

Also, if I need to set a password or something I will, I'm not super knowledgeable on the multiplayer.

Nvmd, just did it

Just beat
Yharnam
and platinumed this game finally. What a great ride. Thinking about getting DS2 scholar for PS4, even though I already beat the 360 version. Hmmm

841 is almost what I was at. Do you have the
Bone Ash
of armor? Strong against both of its elements. I'm not sure what the damage equations in the game are, but just an extra 10 or 20 in each damage reduction seems to be a substantial reduction in total damage taken.

What weapon are you using? Attacking it from just out of its range with a long weapon is something the AI is simply not programmed to handle.

Got that set, and it seems to be helping for sure. I can now get it to about 30% before dying. ^^

I'm using good old Ludwig's, and the "dodge bite and 2H slash" seems to be the most reliable way to get hits. I've tried standing in front and doing the jump, but the timing on that seems much harder, and you're more vulnerable to the charge attack IMO.

Agreed on Endurance being not as good as Vitality in this game. Stamina management was a huge part of DaS, but I can't say I ever worried about it in this game. You can dodge for days with base stamina, and each level gives you hardly any. Stamina is also easy to have "enough" of, but you can never really have too much health. Biggest advantage is longer stunlocks on staggerable enemies, but those aren't normally the hard part of the game.

I still leveled Endurance a bit for balance/RP, but I wouldn't have bothered if I was min-maxxing.

Say, what happened to that one quote from the story trailer? I believe
it was Master Willem saying it.

"The blood makes us human - makes us more than human - makes us human no more." There was a similar quote during the flashback after Vicar Amelia, but it was bit different. (Something like "we are born of the blood, made men by the blood, undone by the blood".) That was a cool quote as well, but I really loved that original one. The delivery was spot on, and I love the poetic nature of it.

Was that quote cut or did I just miss it?

it makes me happy to know BB is making people who didn't get the Souls games 'get' the souls games. Go back to them!

It's true. Started DS1 and it's a piece of cake so far. I think vets who find BB too easy just got good from Souls experience. Likewise, playing DS is a bit easier since it's slower and I have more time to think.

If you have enough strength to use the cannon, consider using that buffed with ash to finish him off from 30%. Use blood bullets to raise the number of times you can use the weapon of course.

It takes a lot of the stress out of the final stage of the fight when you know you can keep your distance and still hurt him :D

I really like endurance builds. I still like them in bb. But I agree, they aren't nearly as powerful in BB since endurance seems to recharge so fast.
Also, there is no longer a weight stat so by default that renders Endurance no longer the arguably most important stat.

For me I see Endurnace in Bloodbourne as "you can easily get away with not building it, but it's great if you do". I can also see Endurance specialty builds being justified by weapons like B
urial
B
lade
having such a high cost on its attacks.

If you can get a boss to 30%, you have the fight down. All it takes is a little more polish and consistency, and you're golden.

I found having decent end helped immensly because of my weapon choices and playstyle. I played really fast with a threaded cane and blades of mercy and started off with the professional class. I'd constantly dodge around and hit bosses using the cane's whip form R2 that takes a lot of stamina but does enormous damage and has a decent chance of teeing up a critical hit. Against regular enemies, having loads of stamina is key to stunlocking them and killing them with a r1 flurry. This was key to later game enemies like undead werewolves an everything in the Nightmare of Mensis. The benefit was that if I got hit, I'd quickly regain everything I'd lost and still have enough stamina to dodge if needed. That doesn't mean I neglected vit or skl, I just made sure I had a lot of stamina (usually at 60% of my vit).
that's my playstyle <3

So I am doing Ailing Loran layer 2 and there is this Bell Lady who spawns so many red spiders I can't kill her without getting mobbed to death. I guess I need more DPS but damn I managed to trap like 9 spiders in a hole and she kept making more! How many enemies can she spawn?

unlimited until you kill her. but if it's the spot i'm thinking of, there are 3 bell maidens that spawn spiders in that area

I got so frustrated that I did something that I had never done before. I summoned someone to help me kill
Gherman, the first hunter
.

Shouldn't have done it. Feels like cheating honestly.

You'd think, but he alters his move set a bit then. The big head auger thing starts, and I also have a much harder time dodging the huge swipey bite. *sigh*

Haven't tried that weapon yet, but maybe it's time.

I didn't learn anything new from the guide except the one guy that does the opposite of where you tell him to go, chapel or clinic.

Are you having an issue escaping his head swipe bite after you hit him? And how much damage are you doing?

Also, the
spider guy gives you
a 15% stamina boost rune.

Answer will always be chalice dungeons for echoes.

Second this. You don't even realize it either. You can go through a few levels and suddenly you're up 300k.

I would award honorable mention to Lecture Hall 1F. In NG+ with 3 moon runes you can net close to 100k with just the students in the large lecture room. A bonus is that area loads so much faster, cutting down your farming time significantly. Middle loft is ok but it's too risky and there's too much running back and forth.

So guide shows why Tonitrus is so OP.

This is the effects of it's transform
Bolt damage + 40, Bolt scaling +40%, Bolt Damage x 1.7

So even with a shitty base arcane scaling, investing heavily in arcane is way worth it.

Anyone have any questions I wanna look into?

I think I've explored everything that I can think of, killed all the bosses I've found. All that's left is to see what happens when I kill
that gharnam dude that was in the wheelchair

I figured out that the guns are good, but it's hard to figure out when exactly to shoot him to stagger him. His stupid focus attack -> launcher combo is annoying since I always think it's the other attack that I can stun him from.

If you get the timing right for enemies does a gun always stun them, or is there a damage threshold as well? I never quite figured that out while playing.

Anyway, dude seems somewhat end-gamey, but I'm suspicious. Seems like there's still more to know.

Wow that's crazy, I shouldn't have sold that thing, but I've been trying to avoid most input while playing. One question I do have about the daggers, how does the arcane work? I know it gets some kind of damage boost after rolling because I tested it during boss fights and it gets retarded damage after a dodge whereas my sword gets nothing. But normal attacks don't seem to do any more or less than my other weapons.

Well, EpicNameBro just uploaded a video showing how strong "Beast Mode" is
against the one reborn
.

After watching it, I'll do a Beast Claw build next. I knew it was far more powerful than people implied, I just didn't want to do a build for it before learning more.

Wow, those beast pellets are crazy strong when used right!

I took on Nightmare Frontier for the first time. Got invaded for the first time. Just as much fun as I thought it would be. Walked out 2-0. :) Nightmare Frontier was really tedious so after dying a couple times and losing 40,000 echoes, when I got to Amygdala, I summoned for help and my coop partner died with less than a quarter of the fight to go. I feel bad because he didn't get anything for his efforts when I finished it up.

I need one more blood chunk to get my Axe to +9. Is going to Cainhurst to farm the gargoyles the best spot at this point in the game?

I never called for help it wouldn't have been as satisfying for me. Now that I've got the platinum it might be fun to help others.

It gets a 1.5x damage modifier for the attack outta a dodge. 1.8x for it's r2 outta a roll.

Really? it seemed more than that.

So how does it's arcane work? My normal attacks don't seem to do more or less damage than my other weapons that don't have elements.

Is arcane only the dodge attack then? That would explain the normal hits doing ~80 damage and the roll doing ~200.

If so the knives are a shit arcane weapon.

Anyone know why Alfred's sign wouldn't be down on the ground right before the BSB fight?

I already killed Vicar Amelia, I missed Alfred at his first spot at the Executioners Altar, but found him on the balcony before the Forbidden Woods and agreed to cooperate with him.

I'm playing online and have plenty of insight. Was able to summon Father G earlier, so not sure why the note on the ground isn't there.

Anyone with some insight? ;o
