Anybody who has beaten 2nd boss and made it past to the next area..
did you inform the old woman it was safe at oedon chapel or iosefkas clinic ?
. Any difference?

ughh @#$%

so i had the bloodborne CE preordered from amazon since like sep/oct right? few days ago i had to update my card info since it had been hijacked a while ago, and found i coudln't change my address to my current once (i've recently moved a few buildings over), which i found puzzling since it hadn't shipped yet.

after nearly an hour and two associates, the best they could tell me was to cancel said order & resubmit it with my new address, assured it was still in stock...now it's backordered with no expected shipping date.

i'm so fucking done preordering shit. if anyone has another CE for sale, hit me up.

So am I supposed to not level up if I lose? I am stuck in a constant loop of:

Gather Blood Echoes
Die
Can't recover them
Die again and they are gone forever

Not sure if this is my thing
Are you trying to rush to your echoes? Just play the level normally until you grab them and don't worry too much about losing them

You ring my bell, ring my bell~
You ring my bell, ring my bell~

The night is young and full of possibilities
Well come on and let yourself be free
My love for you, so long I've been savin'
Tonight was made for me and you

ding, dong, ding, ah-ah, ring it!
you can ring my bell, anytime, anywhere~

In a nutshell. That's how you initiate co-op.
Wat

So I'm still in the first area
got killed by those fucking werewolves on the bridge. Those are way stronger than the first one... Do I fight them or is there a way around
??

You can grind out echoes in an earlier area if you want to. Letting yourself get summoned for jolly co-operation also nets you blood echoes as a reward for helping to defeat a boss.

If you're dying a lot, maybe take things more slowly? Use pebbles to pull a single enemy away from a group and engage it one on one. Fighting an enemy while its buddies start to surround you is pretty much death. Watch its attack patterns and attack when you see a good opening. Use molotovs against enemies weak to fire.

So I played a few hours last night. Didn't really get anywhere, but managed to explore most of Central Yarnham and unlock a bunch of shortcuts. Haven't even fought my first boss yet, taking it slow. Man, fantastic stuff! Here are a few thoughts:

- The art direction in this game is through the roof
- Great atmosphere
- Loving how much more aggressive the enemies are than the Souls games, how they will mostly keep at you even if you back right away
- The movement etc actually reminds me of Demons Souls more than the other games
- Central Yarnham is exceptionally well designed. Up there with the best areas of the series.
- Load times are long
- Frame rate is alright but definitiely slightly under 30fps, which is unfortunate

I did notice one strange issue. I was messing around baiting the big guy down the alley way near the first gate in Central Yarnham, and I noticed if I ran far enough away (near the first Yarnham ladder) he would glitch and disappear, warping back closer to his starting position. Has anyone else noticed this?

Basically, this game is giving me the feels I didn't get with Dark Souls 2 or even Demon's (I played Dark 1 first). Early days, but if the game can maintain this level of quality it may very well end up my favourite of the Souls games.

If that loop is frustrating you, try to embrace the freedom not having any blood echoes on you gives you. It means you can explore with no consequences if you die. You can scout out locations and laugh when you get swarmed.

Learning to be a bit zen about losing all your (souls/blood echoes) and seeing it instead as an opportunity to suss things out, is part of the magic here.

Interesting reading about people getting their asses kicked and getting annoyed etc. I remember a certain
Knight
early on in Demons Souls that I tried fighting multiple times and thinking the game was bullshit. Something just keeps you playing though and the games genius is increasingly revealed

I'm right in front of Vicar Amelia and my bell is greyed out. And it is everywhere else I've looked. Anyone know why?

Red Eyes forever an asshole

17 hours in, I am feeling the same way.

Lol, this regain system is such a tease. I feel like some fish that's knowingly eating off a hook line.

Oh no, my health was hit: time to get careless and go crazy hitting everything.

I love the little desperate freedom to move when taking health, unlike in DaS where I'm chugging on the spot like an alcoholic on doomsday.

I manage to backstep a lot which proves to be effective.

Do weapons have just one transformation? I miss weapon variety from DaS, as I did enjoy the number of weapons and their uniqueness. Does this game have a number of weapons (excluding transformations) that they can give me?

I told the old woman and child to go to the clinic. The chapel dude or whatever is creepy and he seems to really want people there. Knowing my luck, it's the clinic that's gonna go bad haha

Edit:
Ahhh, thanks. I guess I will continue playing then.

Edit: Saw your edit. WTF? I guess this is stuff for when you have built up some skill.
I don't think it matters if you kill it or not. Saw some videos from people who have killed it in the thread.

Almost everyone loves the hunters axe.
The Hunter's Axe is so much fun.

If you've beaten the first boss, you can buy items that let you return to the hunters dream from anywhere without losing your echoes.

Try unlocking shortcuts and going back to the hunter's dream whenever you get the chance to spend your souls.

EDIT: Congrats on unlocking leveling! Also, molotov cocktails are everyone's friend.

You can use
molotovs and try to pull one at a time if that helps. Maintain some distance once they're pulled, wait for them to charge, dodge, slice slice slice, repeat.

Killed the second boss. What a great and fun fight.
When he transforms you can just spam cocktails and it cuts off a big chunk of his life. After reading a bunch of people's issues with him I thought I was gonna be in trouble. With a lot of luck, I was able to 1 shot it which definitely is a good feeling.
