It seems broken. In previous Souls games a "blood stain" would show a phantom of the last 10 secs of a player before they died. It can be helpful to get a hint what's coming. So far, I see nothing when selecting them and I assume that is their purpose.

Yeah I've had it work for me once

Better question, where can I find lots of molotovs? I had like 10 of them but used them all on those werewolves. I guess I'll just run through the enemies over and over again. woo

you can buy them from the little dude in the well at the hunter lodge

need some help with post second boss direction

do i go into the church or continue on into the woods?

For anyone that's trying to beat CB.

Fuck oils and molotovs

Fuck shooting him in the head.

GET IN THAT ASS AND SWING. And if he hits you, use that regain system to your advantage! Keep swinging!

How common are the upgrade materials???

I've upgraded my Saw Blade twice -- but now I've unlocked the KirkHammer, I might want to throw a few upgrades it's way. Am I going to run into trouble if I don't min/maxing. Because I really want to give each weapon I get my hands on a fair go, and I don't want to have trouble late game because I didn't specialise in one weapon

The materials for up to +3 are very common. Above that rare in early game. i've leveled four weapons to +3 but only one beyond that.

I just keep dying at
the bridge near the first boss. The 2 wolves kill me every time.
Do I need to level up or something? ?
Two options

  • Take an alternate path.
Go left in the fountain courtyard instead of right. Right past the house with the snooty lady NPC are a bunch of coffins; bust through them to find a hidden path that is much safer.
  • Fry
    those wolves
with molotov cocktails. They take ludicrously high damage from fire, much higher than other tough enemies like the axe guy.

Leveling up won't do much; if you really want to get your character upgraded, upgrade your weapon at the workbench inside the house to increase your damage.

Managed to play a few hrs now. Got lost, fell from the rafters into sewers. Found a few shortcuts. Anyway a few questions:

1)What button is the gesture menu?

2)the first old lady you find wants a safe place. Is this not the hunter's dream? I can't find a way to say yes so I assume it's somewhere else later on.

3)I found the music box but turned back there as I haven't fought the 1st boss yet. Is he(2nd boss) that way?

4)The hunter you meet who gives you some gesture(plague doctor mask). Can you get his gear relatively soon? I don't need to know where

5)Ditto for those twin curved swords.

Loving it so far. So many branching paths. Too many giants though for me atm. Should go fight cleric and level so I can take em on.

Damn, is it just me or is there a huge gap between the first lantern in Central Yarnham and the next lantern and/or shortcut from the first? Killing that massive horde surrounding the burning werewolf is fun and all but there's so many killy things at the end of that path. The search continues, I guess.

Also, had a death where I glitched between a staircase and the wall and couldn't move when one of those man-beast hybrids came to kill me. I wasn't pleased.

Same here, none have worked for me thus far.

The
hunter guy in the cemetery
... jesus the fight isn't that hard, I figured it out pretty quickly... but getting stuck on the geometry in that area, and the lock-on constantly breaking because it gets confused... damn annoying.

And then the loadtimes after each death. And the run back over there. Gah I'm so close every time and then get stuck on the terrain.

Btw is the online fucking broken? I haven't been able to summon even once, and it keeps costing me consumables. :/ Great idea FROM.

I swear to god every game these days launches broken, and I'm really getting sick and tired of it.

LOVE the health system. Love how it's like DeS where you buy or find health. No estus flasks to always have, you have to manage your rations for bosses

What do you guys say?

Estus or Vials?

This is a common strat for most Souls bosses. Get in tight and don't let them go. Good tip, I will try that.

Well I'm done for the day.

My fight against V
icar
A
melia
went like this:

- first try, I got owned really quick
- second try, nice one that ended in a Double KO

With this I learned that contrary to other Souls games, a Double KO isn't automatically your loss! My blood echoes were waiting for me in the boss room and I got the item correctly before the end of the death screen.

I like this change.

Mind sharing what level you were when you killed her? Been ahving trouble with her

Definitely vials. Estus made things too easy personally, especially a bit later on in the game.

They're supposed to be like bloodstains in the souls games where you see the last moments of someones life. Most of them seem to be broken though,

Wouldn't hurt. And at 10 insight you get the ability to be summoned and invade others.

Thank you, I thought I was missing something. I can see them working at the base.

Buy them from the bath shop in the hunter's dream. They're 180 a piece, pretty cheap.

The game isn't giving me much trouble so far. Three of the first four bosses I encountered went down in the first attempt. The healing system makes it a lot easier to just lay into enemies and take a few hits, etc., and it doesn't play that much differently than a light-weight dex build in DkS2. Power stance toggle, etc. depending on the situation, and you're golden.

Blood vials are insane. It's basically DeS without the inventory management aspect of having a bunch of different kinds. It's fast and so overwhelmingly abundant that you don't you don't need to play all that cautiously.

Currently stuck on this one. Took down the third boss on the first try, about to try for the 10th time or so on the fourth :/

There's a way to cheese them.
Run past them into the house (unless your starting from the house). If you get them to follow you they stop at the doorway and you can get them with a long slash.

Worked perfectly thank you. So I take it cheesing is a viable and valid way to defeat enemies in these games. I would normally frown on this but fuck, this game is hurting my feelings how hard it is.

When you are facing the back of an unsuspecting enemy, Hold down R2 to do a charge attack. This will put the enemy into a state where you can go up to it and hit R1 for the backstab.

It doesn't need to be an unsuspecting enemy. You can just dash behind them while they swing and then charge Attack.

let my cast my magic soul arrow, soul arrow says yes

Same, her attacks all seem really predictable but the timing on them is just super awkward and I can never get the dodges correct. She's also very quick to punish when you get close. Not really sure how to approach it except to spam consumables

Second boss fight went down pretty fast. It probably took less than a minute. Parry is so strong.

Molotovs do massive amounts of damage to them. Just be careful and throw one here and there if you feel there's an opening. You could also just run past them and head straight to the boss.

You threaded cane gentlemen have no idea what you're missing out on with the axe, the 2-handed mode is so damn powerful.

It's so good lol.

What do you guys say?

Estus or Vials?

Estus, if only because I didn't ever accidentally use them all up because I kept thinking triangle was the two-hand grip button. That and Blood vials are just a matter of farming to keep a constant supply and Estus was a hard limit that didn't require grinding to maintain.

As someone who did this strategy, it's good but a bit stressful.

Strafe to the left because the attacks on the left are really predictable.

You are very welcome. I cheesed the boar is Dark Souls the same way.

Firestorm was a cheesers wet dream in Dark Souls 2.

So does Yharnam change
after you get to the church
or when its fully installed because I'd swear it looks different (in a good way) then when I was playing it earlier today?

I'm also stuck on this! I'm uzing Ludwig's Blade with some fire paper to deal as much as I can. Trying again for the 5th time >.>

So four bosses down and
the price for everything in the store is higher
?!?

Is this permanent? Is there something I can do about it? Please don't tell me what If so.
