Before I start explaining my theory here I would kindly ask you to understand that I am not forcing any ideas, just showing what I have stumbled upon, it may be 'something' but is likely just wrong turn or just coincidence. I am not sure if this is connected in any way with Bloodborne or it is just my imagination.
For me it all started with curiosity in Bloodborne with tombstones written in Polish language in Hemwick Charnel Lane.
After playing Bloodborne instead of going to sleep I decided to watch one of the old Polish movies that I have on my personal "film bucket list". It is called
SANATORIUM POD KLEPSYDRĄ from year 1973.
The first scenes gave me goose bumps, not because it was scary but due to the fact that the atmosphere and looks were strongly reminding me of one of our favorite games. For such an old movie, limited funds and censorship in Poland at that time scenography is simply outstanding.
I only say that there is a slight chance that From Software could have get inspiration from this movie and original book.
The movie is based on one of short novels by Bruno Schulz. Story line seems to be totally irrelevant to Bloodborne. And for most of its length this film is irrelevant to Bloodborne as well. Except it's looks.
The movie is highly surrealistic so there is still many things I might have missed due to the fact that the characters of the movie seems to talk in riddles.
