I'm reading conflicting things about Darkbeast Paarl. One wiki says that if you didn't let yourself get snatched by the bag-men before Rom, then you can't fight him... and then in the very next sentence, says you can still fight him in his lair after Rom.

So, uh... What is it? Can I access Paarl and/or Hypogeon Gaol after Rom? Someone here said every boss is accessible until you beat the final boss, so I'm trusting I can still fight him?

I haven't gone to Unseen Village yet. Decided to beat Cainhurst first. But next time I play, I'll be heading to Unseen Village, and want to know if I should expect to tackle Paarl next. He will be Boss No. 9 for me.

You definitely can fight him after Rom. I did exactly that.

You can reach Hypogean Gaol (You have to go there to reach the next story boss). You can be our guinea pig to see if DP is there or if
the bell maidens + weird body wagons killed it.

So is FW (
Forbidden Woods
) the only place I can go to progress right now? I beat
Cleric Beast
,
Father G
,
Vigar Amelia
,
Blood Starved Beast
,
Witch of Hemwick
,
Paarl
, and
Amygdalya
. Getting lost in this place and it seems there aren't many shortcuts or lamps, making death much more annoying. I found the first elevator to the first lamp.

where the hell do i find Blood Rock?

I found one in
Nightmare of Mensis, towards the end you can take a cage elevator, jump out of it while it's taking you down (halfway there's a window you can go into), kill the frenzy mushroom head mofos, and then just keep continuing down that path until you find it
Can you also explore the Hypogean Gaol after Rom?

Yes. It just takes longer to get than before Rom because they disable the lantern there. But it's 100% accessible.

Ok I was sent to jail after dying to grandpa nap sack. Somehow I escaped and ended up in hypergaol sp? Now I found out that there is a boss somewhere down there. Is there a way to get back? I've tried dying to them again to no avail. Am i doomed until my next play through our is there a way back?

yes, you're in the right place.

haha hey Darryl! I've been doing well good sir. Haven't posted much in these OTs since they move so fast but I've been playing a whole lot of the game. Just finished my first play-through including all optional areas, did everything solo like usual for me in Souls games.

Next I'll be starting NG+ / working my way through the Chalice Dungeons. I think I'm ~Lv90-91, build is mainly Strength with some Skill. Approximately 27 Vit/ 29 End/ 47 Str/ 27 Skl with low BTinge+Arcane.
Ludwig's Holy Blade
dominated pretty much everything, lol. Definitely want to level up BT and Arcane eventually to play around with other stuff like
Chikage
and
Evelyn
.

How about yourself? How're enjoying BB so far? Seen some of your OT posts and sounds like you've been digging it.

I'm enjoying the game, I'm close to the ending but I have been taking it slow--I have 2 characters though, one is level 130 through the item duped glitch and the other is 73. The atmosphere in this game is extremely spooky for me and I can't play it late at night or I start flinching horribly lol. I'm really interested in the PVP aspects of the game though and I hope that it is really fleshed out later with updates.

Can you only invade in areas with the maiden bell woman? I didn't get invaded a single time throughout my playthrough, but then I reached
Nightmare Frontier
. I tried ringing the sinister bell but had no luck, and I heard that both players must be ringing it. That's not an 'invasion'.

Did you light the lamp on the top floor of Hypogean Gaol? If not you have to wait until much later in the game.

Vire said he beat Darkbeast Paarl after Rom, so I guess that answers that. And from the sounds of what you're saying, Hypogean Gaol will be accessible, too. So that's good. I'd like to beat every boss in the game. I have two cords so far, too, so once I have Mergo's, I should be on track for the true final boss fight.

Can you also explore the Hypogean Gaol after Rom?

It's different but you still go through the area itself as Yahar'gul. Paal is still there, and you can still get the drops like the mace.

I think the biggest thing is the NPC, I doubt she's still there post-Rom.

Check the other tombstones at the Hunter's Dream

Holy shit, I'm shaking from the adrenaline.... just finally beat
Eileen and got the crow hunter's badge. fucking intense battle. goddaaaaaamn.

i am sure i missed a whole lot of this subplot but
somehow i engaged in the fight between Eileen and the other hunter
..i was like what the hell let me just jump right in.
then i killed the other hunter right after he killed Eileen...yeah they both died so i got the badge and the rune...then the shop had the crow set and I bought them too lol

My friend and I were playing side-by-side and we couldn't co-op until one of us touched the lamp. At first it wouldn't let us touch it, then it let us do it (but didn't give the prompt to return to Hunter's Dream). The moment it let us touch it, it connected us. This happened like 3 times.

we tried that and still no luck :(

How do you get to the item that's up on a balcony when you use the Cathedral Ward lantern then go right up towards the VA battle?

There's a ladder right there, but it's in the other side.

Have you unlocked both elevators? If so it's a really quick run from the lamp.
Yes I have. It only takes a minute or two to get back, but it's just making me feel worse if I get killed quickly by the boss. Having to wait for each elevator both times.... The load screens have yet to bother me, but these elevators are giving me stuck in traffic-esque feelings of rage. Of course, this leads to impatience with the boss, which leads to failure

I'm sure I'll fail until giving up tonight, then deal with it tomorrow with minimal issues

Does anybody have any tips against D
arkbeast Paarl
? Every time I go into the area to fight him, I get my ass handed to me before I can even land a hit off.

I'm not sure if I'm underleveled or not - I just hit level 48. The last boss I beat was R
om the Asshole Spider
and now everything has gone tits up.

I beat this boss around mid 40s, and one shot him. Wear something with good Bolt defense (I wore
Henryk's
set.

Roll forward to dodge his swipe Attack and stay underneath him. Many people say not to lock on but I did. The camera was shit the whole time, but I could still see myself ok. When you're underneath just do a 3-4 hit combo then get ready to roll and dodge. He has an AOE shock attack, just unlock and run away, then repeat. He will stagger when he runs out of electricity and fall down, do charged R2 as much as you can and leave some stamina to roll. That's pretty much it.

A Bell Maiden can spawn if someone uses the Beckoning Bell and summons a person. I've not used the Beckoning Bell myself, but I've gone to help other people and a Maiden spawned in their world. In some areas it seems random, and others are more consistent. As an example in O
ld
Y
harnam
, I helped about 5 or 6 people and only one had a Bell Maiden spawn. However, in the W
itch
area, I helped about 7 or 8, and only one of them didn't have a Maiden spawn. Not one of them actually called a player to invade though, I dunno if that's because matchmaking is just not working.

Ah right. I was lucky in that I killed it on my third try, so I didn't have to do the run too much.

If it helps, what I tend to do with elevators in a boss run, is I step back off the pressure plate, and then run over it as I get off. That means it sends it back up ready for if I have to do the run again. Means you don't have to wait for the elevator to come up.

Endurance.
Haven't really felt short yet. May go with that though because I don't plan on going heavy Arcane/Tinge anyway.
What weapon(s) do you plan on using?
I have the cane+9 and blades+6. Mostly use the cane.
Liberal use of guns and torches.

Haven't really read up on what other options are available. Half the fun is discovery, but the possibility of trapping myself from options is looming over me.
