I think this video does a great job.
Skip to 4:50 if you want the bit about the story issues. Essentially a huge scale grand sci fi drama series was turned into women bitching at each other over galactic scale, it was fucking awful.
I remember getting to the 3rd level cutscene on steam, turning it off, uninstalling, and requesting a refund. Vs Homeworld 1 & 2 which I played for decades.

And yes, this has happened before. So people have all the reason to be very skeptical of this form of DRM.

The games that got it, got it a couple of weeks ago. There is plenty of time for hackers to find their exploits in this rootkit. That is, if they haven't found it already and we just don't know.
The reality is that there is no reason for 2K to decrease our privacy and increase the attack vector of our machines to hackers.
