Borderlands 4 |OT| It's about time. Literally.

Looks like 2K paid a lot of streamers to hype this up lol
And still no reviews...
But a new german gamestar pre-review mentioned shitty ubisoft like open world Design
But that is standard open world game design by now, game ll only lose points If its actualy worse than Ubislop,
also, most conversation ll be around how good or bad optimization and writing is.

We'll likely hear that it's just more Borderlands, but with new traversal options. Honestly, that's what I'm expecting anyway. Hopefully with the addition of interesting characters, story and humor. I have to say that those CG character trailers were quite cool, so there's that.

Not sure if we can trust most reviewers about characters, story and humor though. We still live in a world where folks are just too easily offended, that and humor is subjective.
More Borderlands with extra traversal options is perfect!

So top end gpus are barely getting 60fps with no frame gen or dlss but somehow the base PS5 is having no issues

Sure. So what is it, 30fps on consoles?
No, it will be 60…PC clearly still sucks to develop for. The varying components and quickly updated components are always going to make PC a crapshoot, especially when using the engine they did to make it.

Yeah, I started looking and ran across a video with Shroud playing with some friends that seemed real cringe. Get paid I guess. I don't know who likes that stuff.

I'm expecting a low 80s game - "morderlands". It does sound like they've dialed back their terrible attempts at humor which were too far over the line with BL3. The twins were annoying as hell in that game.

I wonder when games will start to release with Unreal Engine 5.6 because that's where all the big performance improvements are supposed to be. I'm guessing it just came out way too late for all the games releasing this year to make the switch.

Could be "Ultimate/Max" settings bloat on PC that's halving frame rate for something that's not even noticeable in an 800% zoom side by side. UE5 is particularly egregious about that.

A combination of sub 1080p rendering resolution and dropping to medium settings while keeping things like Lumen reflections off.

Claptrap is such a deterent for me enjoying any Borderlands game. I just cant. On paper, this would be exactly what I want, looter shooter fully playable solo. If this scores good I might just play it in one of the european languages.

They actually added a Claptrap volume slider in the settings so you can mute that little fucker

Had zero interest in this but saw a Steam key for 34 bucks so decided why not. I'm sure I'll hate it just like the last one but eh.

Which edition should you get if you want the base game + the 4 story DLC that they usually do? I'm considering just getting the base game now and then seeing how the DLC turns out later on...

Also, do you guys think this will be much harder to run than BL3? I know they upgraded the engine from UE4 to UE5 and that the recommended specs list a 3080 which isn't far off from my 3090. I'm planning to play at 4K and assuming I'll need to use DLSS...

So they are doing things a bit different this time.. paid DLCs seem to be sorted into "Bounty Packs" and "Story Packs"
Bounty Packs are smaller in size, I guess maybe think it in terms of the Headhunter Packs from Borderlands 2.

Deluxe Edition gives you only Bounty Packs.
Super Deluxe gives you Bounty Packs + Story Packs

If you want the big story stuff you have to go with Super Deluxe edition.

Graphically it looks good, much better than i've thought.
As for the game still i have to watch more footage to decide (i haven't played very much of the Borderlands franchise)

Yep. And I also just saw a ad of the game , quite long too and those locations look quite great! Visually absolutely fine and I thought that since the first reveal, but especially during that first real gameplay footage with the snow and everything.
