Yeah, a pain in the ass either way. Happening just as I was starting the game up for me though, so no big deal here.

a shitty system, indeed.

What's worse is that there doesn't seem to be a way to force a save without exiting a level or quitting the game. Why the game doesn't autosave after every quest completed makes no sense to me.

This is the first game I've ever achieved 1000 gamerscore for. And I own the PC version. Yeah.

PC version makes me sad, but the game is phenomenal with friends.

Hmm, in the PC version you save every time you quit the game. Maybe you only don't save if you're forcefully ejected?

I'm trying to cancel my pre-order on Steam now due to all the shitty feedback. I'd rather just put that money up for Dragon Age.

If i were you I would just (re-)install BG2 and download some porn. That way you won't have to spend any money and u'll get the authentic Dragon Age experience, but better.

Beat the game tonight, and tried some co-op. One thing that sort of irks me is no one ever heals me. They'll stand there and let me heal them, so I know you know how it works. Help me out.

I havent been addicted to a game like this since PSO. Been playing a ton of the 360 version, using the Soldier. Shooting your teammates to give them health is one of the coolest/funniest things ever.

Yeah, in the 360 version, if you drop connection from the host, the game just dumps you back to the main menu and no progress is saved from the moment you enter a zone. I always thought those respawn checkpoints were hard save points, but they're not.

When the patch comes, and my new PC arrives (both hopefully by this weekend) we can all group up and play from scratch. Meanwhile, we should play the L4D2 demo. (or NOT. Dammit, Valve!)

:lol That's just cold.

Did some playthrough 2 co-op last night. Man, they really ramp things up. Got pretty nutty at times. Much more interesting than the first run through.

I just noticed if you highlight the eridian artifact you have installed it asks you which one to equip from all the ones you've installed.

Also if you pick up an artifact you allready have and use it, it will raise the level of that artifact by 1.

Yeah it was funny, I was home from work and getting ready to go out but I had a sniper rifle for my buddy that I wanted to get to him since I wasn't going to be on again while he was.

Joined his game, said what's up, dropped the sniper rifle for him, quit game. Got back on later and I still had the sniper rifle. So yeah, it definitely doesn't save.

Anyways, hit 50 last night, game's a total blast but after playing each class to 20 and soldier to 50 I'm about ready to hang it up until the DLC comes out. Great, great game. I'm almost finished with playthrough 2.

The PC version is almost identical to the console version but has better visuals. That's what people are bitching about. PC gamers are just accustomed to a different standard, that's all =P I think people were bitching about the same online issues on the first day of 360/PS3 release. I've personally had no problems getting friends to join my game.
Just to provide the counterbalance point, the PC version doesn't really have visuals that look that much better than consoles, in my opinion. Textures etc. don't seem that much better are visibly load in at the level start, it only uses DX9 etc.

I think a good many people still can't play or host. You need to at least forward a bunch of ports to try to host, and in my case I haven't been able to add any friends at all (though I am apparently the only one with this particular problem...no dev feedback, and I still don't know any official form to submit). Volc hasn't been able to play with anyone, apparently, and a couple of other people are also having problems. I've pretty much given up on the game at this point. I'm guessing any patch they release won't catch my odd isolated bug, but who knows. It's sad since it's kind of a waste of $34...I don't even want to play single-player without the option of co-op, since that's basically why I bought the game.

And yes, not being able to force a save seems really silly. It tells you it's saving when you quit in single-player, but you reset to the last checkpoint I guess.

Did anyone see my question about the "Offline" text showing up on the right side of the Online menu? Is that normal or is it supposed to say Online? It also says my mic is disabled for some reason, there.

Not always. It depends of the artifact level. If you find a level 1 atifact and you already have level 1 of that same type, it says that you can't use it. At least in the X360 version.

When and how are those percentages calculated?
Do the "83% Damage" add to the 57 dmg described in the "dmg stats"? or does the gun just do 83% more dmg compared to your standard gun (whatever that is)?

The same thing goes for fire rate and magazine size.

Oh okey, guess they just come in different levels then and the higher ones replace the lower. my bad :x.

How do I not get raped by Bonehead and company?

A lot of people miss the fact that you can go talk to the one legged guy and get a couple quests, and then also that there's another lower level quest laying on the table after you go into the second area. Do those two lower level quests and you should be a high enough level to take on Bonehead without too much trouble. Don't forget your turret either.

I think the DAM% is already included to the number 57 dmg. So it is normally much lower but because of this extra damage, it is up to 57 dmg.

There's a pretty simple way to find that out. Just equip the gun, and if it has more than a 17 bullet clip, it's added on top of those stats.

Or else I'll try to have that in mind if I get to play some when I get home :d.

Its already figured into the numbers you see.

Additional effects like recoil reduction, fast reload, sniper critical boosts, etc. obviously are not factored into any of the numbers you see, but if it gives you a hard and fast number its adjusted for the gun's specific attributes to those.

Same with some special guns you can pick up with red text. If it entails something like firing two bullets with one ammo round (like "the lead wind blows") and the gun has a "X2" flashing with the damage number you don't fire four bullets, just two.

The ammo clips are an obvious way to tell, but I also keep an eye on my damage per hit with most of my weapons and it corresponds pretty much perfectly with the listed damage + my proficiency boosts.

Thanks for clearing that up! Will make reading into stats somewhat easier ^^.

On another note. Reading around on the official forums I feel parts of the game is kind of broken. For example; some talent's don't work at all atm, while others are very vaguely described or just pretty useless. Even the classes themselves are pretty unblanced. Brick from what I've heard becomes pretty bad at later playthroughs and his bereserking skills will just tickle your enemies while they are laughing at you. While Mordecai has his very overpowered bloodhawk that just does all the job for him.

Not to parade down on the game which i still think is tons of fun, just wished it was a bit more polished in more than one area :x.

People who say rockets are useless must have shitty rocket launchers or suck at shooting them, or play by themselves vs. with others.

Last night I didn't spec Rockets like I said I was going to try, but was playing with a different friend than normal and he had his Soldier ammo regen ability cranked so we all had unlimited ammo.

I was able to pump out rockets like crazy and blow up fools like no one's business.

Rockets might suck when you play by yourself since everyone always just charge at you, but everyone fighting all over the place gives you opportunities to nail fools.

LOVE EM! Definitely going to start walking down the rocket tree a bit now that I've completed the parts of the Tank tree that I wanted.

Super beefy Brick with a shotgun and a rocket launcher.

Online issues and some weird optimization aside, this game is really fun. I lost track of time last night and played this game till almost 2am.

I can see BL being a crazy great time online with co op, so hopefully gearbox gets on a patch soon.

As strange as this sounds, it is a bit weird now to play a game with no type of achievement system. I'm so used to it with 360 and steam chieves and PS3 trophies the game almost feels like it is missing something without them. :lol Would like steam chieves patched in too someday!

I personally hate the Rocket tree with Brick. The Berserker ability is for you to get close so rockets make no sense for him. But if it works out for you then cool. i wish it was a shotgun tree instead. id be inclined to go into it.

Anyways i started the seccond playthrough too. i finished it last night at lvl 36 (almost 37). Im still so confused by the ending.

What's the deal with him, though? Is he part of a quest? He has a case of guns there that I can never open.

You can still shoot rockets in close situations, just make sure you've got a bit of a gap between you and the other people.

My shotgun is fantastic, though :)

Level 31 and my shotgun does 56 x 12, has a 6 mag clip and is able to shoot probably 3 rounds a second. Much much better than my old Sledge Shotty.

How could anyone miss the TK Baha missions? I'm assuming you mean the second set of missions? How could those be missed?

Bonehead is doable at a a low level by hiding up on the catwalk. Bonehead never comes up after you, he just runs around the yard firing potshots.

I ended up buying my shotguns. Never got a whole lot of good ones my first run. I did like Sledges shotty because of the +Melle damage. I kept a crappy pistol called the dove cause it had +200 damage. You gotta raise that punching power with brick!

Just hop in a vehicle and drive down to the mine entrance, there's a tin roof over the garage. A roof impervious to explosion. :D

You might need to fire the odd sniper round to get his attention, then when he comes at you, let Bloodwing go and hide under the roof. Rinse, repeat.

Damn, what's the level req on that badboy and what level are you?

At 31 I'm still using a level 18 weapon I found that does 557 with a good zoom scope and a mag size of 2 that I've been making the most of.

Haven't found a thing better.

He gets the explosives resistance skill. Couple that with reduced damage for killing an enemy and rockets will do a fraction of the damage against yourself that they do against the opponent

Also I found that the more people there are in the game, the better the loot. I was just co-oping with a single friend for about an hour with "meh" drops, two more friends hopped in and next thing you know we were getting lots of green and purple drops. Anyone else see that too?

I don't have the stats offhand, but my rocket launcher is a purple that I recently picked up and it doesn't do squat. It seems to de negligable damage to humans almost nothing to vehicles.

It was so back that I swapped it out and used my corrosive pistol to take out turrents when I was playing co-op last night.

Your post gives me hope that the whole blaster tree of a brick is not useless
Luckily I am having to much fun brawling (swapped out of tank to brawler..I'm only lvl 21)

I also love that 99% of the players seem to be hunter/soldiers so people are generally happy to be grouping with a brick :D

Mine saves every time I get near a little checkpoint tower thing.

What the color code for loot again? I know white is the shittiest, but then is it purple, green or orange?

Rockets are lame. the best rocket launcher I've found does 240 damage. But I found a Shotgun...yes a fucking SHOTGUN, that shoots ROCKETS. And it uses Shells to do it. It only does 147 damage, but it destroys anything it's shells touch. I think they're just explosive rounds but the description under it says "It Shoots ROCKETS!"

So I got this game on PC today and after playing a bit I totally love it. I might double dip on this one for 360 too if I can get a few friends to get it, since most of my friends don't have a gaming PC.

I believe that's intended, if I remember correctly there's a loading screen stating something like "the more people playng the harder it gets, the harder the enemies the better the loot!" :p.

What chest?

I remember opening a big chest in his area on the PC version. I think I got a quest item in it, but I don't remember!

Usually I just hold down the 'E' button which is just grab all so everything flies right in towards me. :lol

Anyone else feel a little more satisfaction shooting at enemies when you see the damage numbers pop off them? I love that! Especially when you have an element attached to a weapon. Set someone on fire, go around a corner, and see the numbers fly. :lol

Yeh there's nothing quite as orgasmic in the gaming world as seeing the amount of punish you're dealing out depicted as a bunch of colored numbers popping up, even the font they use pleases me somehow :D.

Edit: A small head's up on what's not working at the moment. From what I can gather from the official forums the following talents are as of now not working: Phase Strike, Silent Resolve, Unbreakable, Pay Back, and Revive.

Hopefully it will be patched!
