I'm OK with paying $60 for huge budget games like Modern Warfare 2 or Halo 3, because they're worth the investment, they have staying power. I'm also not on the side of this thread complaining about a $10 price hike while expecting the same quality.

CoD4 uses Punkbuster and you most likely won't encounter cheating unless you are playing on the "unofficial" servers with all of the guys who pirated the game.

Nah not really, people get a hold of stolen goods fairly easily. You'll see stolen copies with no cases n such at EB/ Gamestop within a couple days. Good pitch for Demon's Souls though!

It's pretty easy to "boycott" a company like Activision. I mean, unless you love you some Guitar Hero or Call of Duty, they haven't released much of anything this generation that is special.
On the other hand... Dragon Age, Burnout, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge, Boom Blox, Left 4 Dead, Mass Effect, Orange Box, Skate, Need for Speed, Crysis, Battlefield, Brutal Legend, etc etc.

And if you don't then you're either not very bright or unable to for some reason... such as, in the case of COD4, the absence of a valid CD key.
Strongly considering not buying it after the "no dedicated server" fiasco. For me, this game is PC version or bust. It seems like every time I hear more about this game, I get closer and closer to the "not buying it" territory. The lack of dedicated servers just about kills it for me, and it has for sure killed it for one of my friends.

I've got a question: Why not just boycott it for six to nine months and buy it new and reduced then? Rather than, you know, putting money into the hands of the shops that end up fucking over everyone rather than just Activision? Just a thought.

and that imo is exactly why IW removed dedicated servers, to prevent the user stuff. Not for casual pc gamers to play, and who exactly is this demographic they are talking about anyway, the "casual pc gamer" play the sims or peggle, or at worse world of warcraft, not accidently buy install, update, and click cod.exe and go OMG im bad with computer what do i do HALP!!!.
