whoops I must've said something wrong... I'm one of those people? what does that mean? anyhow I'm sorry if I offended anyone.

the show is still very good now i'm at the end of season 4, Gus is one of my favourite TV character.

btw I have a question about the relationship between Gus and The Cartel: is Gus producing the Meth (cooked my Walt) and using Cartel as distribution? (As in partnership) Or are they competitors?

Thanks!

No, Cartel and Gus are totally separate businesses, if I recall correctly. Gus distributes meth in the US and the Cartel handles Mexico.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of the show (season 1). Seems...alright so far. Not sure what all the fuss is about, but will continue watching :)

Season one was a good start, it sags a little in season 2 but once you get over that hump you will understand why this show is the best.

I really felt like the ending of the second episode was the moment that said this show would be unique.

1 and 2 seasons are my favorite, and the next episode you're gonna watch is one of my favorite in the series, enjoy. :)

you've seen 1/27th of what people are raving about. that's maybe why you don't get "the fuss"

Some other shows (Lost, The Walking Dead) grabbed my attention immediately, is all I'm saying. It's not bad so far, just nothing has stood out yet, but I'm looking forward to watching more.

Breaking Bad does start off very slow, but trust me it's worth it and you'll get completely pulled in by season 3. Season 4 was some of the best TV I've watched. Season 5 just continues that

episode 3 has the sequence that should signal where the rest of the show is going and how good it's going to be. not that it's the best of the show, not remotely, but if you don't notice it as a strong confident step then the show's probably not for you

yeah the pilot's pretty wonderful and really does tell you what the entire show is going to be about thematically (like, explicitly) but I guess how I can see how it wouldn't perfectly signal how the show will escalate plot-wise. 3 though kinda does that.

Absolutely. It has the first (of gloriously many) "Oh this is pretty much theater" scene.

I think it's just that those are simpler shows. I was hooked like crazy to Lost at first too. But in the end it becomes clear that the writers were not as competent as we might have expected and that most of the cool and imaginative moments were actually just the equivalent of dangling shiny keys over an amazed baby.

Stick with this show because Lost isn't even in the same league. You'll probably feel that way soon too.

Pretty much until the end of the series, every episode is better than the last. It's the only show I've ever seen where the quality constantly goes up. Even when you find it unbelievable that a season could be topped, you keep watching and the next season is somehow better.

100% guarantee that if you keep watching, by Season 2 you will understand what the fuss is about.

Like others said, episode 3 is a defining moment. Season 1 is for sure the weakest in my opinion and it just gets better and better. My friend stopped after the season 1 because he didn't think much of it, now he is absolutely in love with it. This show is incredibly gripping.

I like Lost, but it isn't even close.

Is there going to be any way to watch the first half of the season before the second half airs? I was DVRing them while I worked through season 4 on netflix but they got erased.

I'm not anywhere near as big of a fan of this show as most people are but I still enjoy it quite a bit. It's a show that has some amazing moments and it's worth it to go through the whole series to see them all but everything that's not involved with Walter's meth business is boring.

The DVD situation is a little muddy since I've mostly seen listings for "The Complete 5th Season". Netflix usually has previous seasons up in advance of the premiere, and presumably AMC are going to rerun the whole thing before the second half of the season starts.

amazon and itunes and various other VOD are options but I haven't heard word on a DVD/BD release, think they're doing all of season 5 at once.
Alternately, AMC is just finishing re-running the entire series I think (site lists 5x07 and 5x08 as airing on the 25th and the 1st) and I'd call it likely they'll rerun the episodes again before 5 pt. 2 premieres.

Just finished episode 3. It was pretty good, and I guess it's setting up the plotpoint of Walt vs the authorities?
Keep watching...

By the way, we regularly talk about some important plot points and post gifs from well past where you are in the series in this thread, so you're probably best off using a LTTP thread unless you either don't care or are good at averting your eyes.

It just seems strange to call the wife of a murderering, drug manufacturing, child poisoning dickhead annoying because she sometimes gets in the way of him. Her weight is also a random thing to bring up.

lol if you care about spoilers, I would GTFO of this thread and bump one of the LTTP ones instead.

This thread is highly volatile.

This...is not thread.

Hating Skylar is like hating Michael on Arrested Development. Both function as the counter-weight to the insanity of the other characters. Without Skylar checking Walt, the show would go completely off the rails.

There used to be big back and forth's between people here on Skylar, it used to get pretty heated with accusations of misogyny or whiteknighting. Not everyone will give you shit about it though, I personally never really liked Skylar.

Michael is funny though. Skylar gives me the same feeling as that kid in class who always reminded the teacher they forgot to give homework.

I think Walt's annoying moments are underrated -- like when he shouts at someone and he shifts his head from side to side like he's some ghetto princess with attitude. Very punchable.

Yeah I understand where Skyler comes from. (The weight is my failed attempt of humor) But now a legitimate disappointment, that she
is using the money to save Ted
edit: oh wow nevermind, now i see the consequences... superb tension there.

Anyway enough of Skyler... wanna ask more about Cartel VS Gus: here's what I understand so far.
1. Gus wanted to provide its drug to the Cartel but failed in the first place (Flashback)
2. Gus set up its own distribution network in the US using its fast food chain
3. Gus doesn't interact too much with The Cartel in terms of the meth business
4. Walt led to the death of Tuco, Cartel wants revenge, Gus tried to stop.

And No.4 is what leads to the ultimatum, am I correct?

Gus and the Cartel do business, but Gus has long planned to cut ties. When Tuco dies and Walt makes the blue meth, he uses that as an opportunity to make his move.

OH BOY THAT DEATH SCENE!!! (just finished s4)

1. disappointed Walt did it to Brock
2. seems like a fitting series finale, wonders what comes next in S5

Is there a gif of Ted's trip? I want to see that gif.

sorry me again
I'm simply impressed by the great character development of Walter starting from Season 5. Not saying there's none before, but I think with the death of Gus and the seemingly hopelessness from Skyler, Walt has lost the anchor of what's he's been doing.
Not to mention the badass teaser in Say My Name (an honor to witness the famous gif scene). But how he described the empire business and his other irrational actions have convinced me Heisenberg is taking over. Too bad it's the last season!
