In a sense I think Walt is gonna enjoy getting caught. That recognition he's gonna get when people find out HE'S THE GREAT HEISENBERG will please him.
Yeah, I definitely think there's a part of Walt that would find gratification in everybody knowing.

It'd be outweighed by all the other emotions/consequences, but a small part of him would enjoy it.

I think a great part of him would enjoy it. Walt just backed out from meth because recognition was substituted by routine. If his empire kept growing, he wouldn't have stopped.

These two things were posted before the episode aired. I swear as I was watching the ep I thought I'd accidentally read leaked spoilers or something! Haha, crazy

How amazing would it be if Walt is sitting at home, possibly even with Hank, with Holly in his arms, while we're shown a montage of people being murdered by his command.

Why the hell did they never use Crystal Blue Persuasion as an intro or in a montage or something yet? Perhaps saving it for the final elisode? I would link the song but I'm on my Vita. Hopefully some kind soul can so you all can hear how great it'd fit with the show.

Why do so many people think this?

Walt was caught up and pushed into a corner, and then he got greedy. Heisenberg is a persona, it is something Walt came up with when he had no choice but to fight. He is not Gus, he wears a mask, and when he said he was out, he was out for good. That and cancer probably brought him back down.

He's been on a journey that made him superhuman, but he absolutely was out of the game. Him giving Jesse's money also proves that he let go. He looked at the money stored in the store-away and realized the empire he had-- this simply never occured to him, he was too caught up to realize how far his greed had gotten.

He tied up the lose ends-- and Skylar even gave him what looked like a genuine smile at the end. A LOT of time passed between when he said he was out until that moment. He was repairing his family. It was happy ever after until Hank found the book.

I honestly felt a bit uneasy during the whole prison montage. I was like, "Goddamn."

Also, I felt REALLY UNEASY when Walt Jr. was pushing the baby on the side of the pool. I thought something was going to happen.

Didn't his empire just expand to the Czech Republic? With a customer base the size of the southern United States?

Yes, but what did he get in return? Money? We all know he doesn't give a shit about money, just his ego.

Same here, that stabbing was especially cringeworthy knowing shit like that actually happens.. and with Holly, when JR actually started steering it CLOSER to the edge of the pool I couldn't help but hold my breathe.

Why do so many people think this?
The only reason Hank continued to look for Heisenburg is because of that dinner scene last season where Walt didn't like hearing Gale being called a genius. He wants people to know he is the genius, but he probably likes not being in prison more.

Well, yeah, but the empire business he's so invested in running, the one thing that kept Lydia alive, allowed his product to be recognized half a world away. This whole season has been portraying Walt as this pent-up megalomaniac thriving on the idea that he could be bigger than Gus, and the "routine" is what sours him on the whole deal in a matter of months? Just strikes me as too quick of a turnaround.

I don't understand the thought process that Holly was going to die by just drowning in a pool...what would that even say about Walt's character? If anything, she's going to die BECAUSE of Walt doing something awful, not just "Walt Jr. has cerebral palsy, tripped and accidentally killed his baby sister. I do see a bit of that coming through and how they kept showing it, but that was more to emphasize family togetherness, something that's long been lost in this show. And then, boom, Hank finds the book. Time to read Leaves of Grass.

I like how American TV has no problem showing kids getting murdered and extreme violence but censors the word fuck

Regardless, awesome ep

I think the show being on after 10 pm allows them to show that level of violence. I dont think they even replay before 10 pm.

Don't you already know by now? Walt is like a kid. Selfish and prideful. He wanted to simultaneously be the family man and have his pride polished by maintaining the empire. Once the latter started to bore him, he resorts back to his family. I'm sure Lydia and Todd will come back to play next season. He's done this before for his family, back in season 3, but things weren't so sour back then.

Hey man I was tense ok I wasn't thinking straight!

Honestly Walt could still be in but as truly taking on the empire roll. He is now just sitting back monitoring everything and collecting cash.

It's been three months and I'm sure Todd is more than capable of cooking. The only way I see Walt being out is if he sold the recipes to prevent the demand forcing him back in.

This episode did nothing to change from what I suspected before. Once everything jumps forward Walt will finally meet the guy Saul knows that can make you disappear He will get a new identity and run. In the first episode isn't Walt checking if someone made it across the border? Could be Jessie and not his family.

Mostly it was just a lot of ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN tension in the scene, but it would be fitting with the show if ironically terrible things happened to Walt now that he's stopped cooking (whereas prior to, ironically terrible things happened to everyone around him).

lol, wow.

I think showing flash forward was pointless with Walt getting a gun, and growing hair to change identity maybe, and in a far away state, it only spoils that Hank didn't manage to catch him after realizing he is Heisenberg. It only spoil next part of season, I would rather not known that, and this ending would have been more powerful as having no clue wtf is gonna happen next.

Was hoping they were going to go another route in the way the that Hank would find out Walt, seemed a little coincidental he finds that book while dropping anchor at his house.

Those last couple scenes i felt more tension there than the whole train sequence.

So with 8 episodes left, you thought Hank was gonna catch Walt immediately?

Remember the scene when Walt runs over two gangbangers and saves jesse and says "run"

Hank is going to do the same thing, he is going to give walt time to run before he sends the dogs on him.

Walt is the silent guardian, a watchful meth cook. He is running because they have to chase him. He is the Blue Knight

Can someone refresh my memory? What did Walt ever say to Hank about Gail?

2 things.

1) The scene that was in the flashback. He proposed the W.W. in Gale's lab book was Walt Whitman.

2) One night during dinner, Walt got a little drunk with wine and told Hank that Gale isn't the guy they're looking for and that it looked like he was simply following instructions from someone else.

Hank is too smart to confront Walt right away. He's going to keep an eye on him and look for more evidence - but seeing as Walt is "out". He won't have anything.

There you go, exactly how 6.01 and 6.02 will play out

Nah, it must be something more than that. A whole episode of Walt doing nothing is gonna be weird.

Walt Jr has not had as much screen time as I would have liked.

Also, I think Todd will be Walt's downfall, by killing him in greed like Walt did Gus.

Todd serves as a Jesse substitution that has no soul. It's part of the "thrill is gone" aspect of Walt's meth cooking.

He's definitely not gonna kill Walt.

Why do I get the sense these lines in bold from that Walt Whitman poem will have meaning for the end...

When I heard the Learn’d Astronomer

WHEN I heard the learn’d astronomer;
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;
When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;
When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,

How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;
Till rising and gliding out, I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars
.

If Walt is out, or just sitting on the sidelines collecting money, who do you think is cooking and running things? Todd and his family of thugs.

I think that's what the next episode is gonna be about. Whatever happens, I think Walt is truly out.

Walt is out, fellows. No tricks to it.

Symbolism was there ; when we see the shot of Walt going into the medical scanner, upside down, then slowly rotating so that we see him straight again. Perfect imagery.

Cancer made him break bad ; cancer also made him break good.

Would anyone have been upset if the series had just ended with the BBQ, and Hank had never found that book? Obviously in this timeline, the season opening scene wouldn't have happened either.

The more I think about it, the more I really dislike the way Hank finds out. That's some hamfisted deus ex machina if you ask me.

Do we ever see Gale give Walt the book or is the first time we ever see it is when Walt unpacks?
