Ford spent 18 months battling a rare, aggressive cancer that knocked him out of mayor's race but not city hall, He was first elected in 2000

I was once in an elevator with him about 6 months ago in a Toronto hospital (Mount Sinai). He honestly looked as large as ever.

46 is young. Knew this had to be coming since the last report was that the treatments were not working.

For all of his flaws, he really was dedicated to helping his constituents and the kids he coached.

I hated that he was the mayor and thought he was ineffective at everything he did and really worried about what his election says about democracy in general, but his commitment to serving other people is something to be celebrated. I appreciated his motivation.

RIP.
