The only way for Cameron to fix the country is to overturn the referendum and resign

He's resigning regardless. He can't overturn the referendum; that'd lead to outright dismissal of Parliament & the government. Yes, it's technically non-binding, but they have to respect it.

Overturning is never going to happen.

Look, I voted remain too, but it's time to move from denial and bargaining to acceptance now. The poll was made, the public spoke and leave won. That's it.

I really wanna go to bed...but goddamnit I need to see how this ends.

I'm strongly in the camp that REMAIN is the best option for everyone, LEAVE is a very short-sighted opinion that seemingly the less educated/older generation are leaning more towards if those Guardian stats are anything to go by.

Though, I will say, Scotland in it's entirety (assuming the last 2 boroughs vote Remain) sticking in the Remain camp is a massive "Fuck You" to England, and I can dig it.

This is like watching a disaster occur in slow motion. I'll bet anything when all the shit hits the fan and the economy crashes, the idiots who voted for this point fingers everywhere except themselves. Basically, the vast majority of economists, financial organizations, governments, everyone has called out what will happen ... but, like ostriches, the scared little kids put their heads in the ground and ignored the data and, instead, responded on a purely emotional level. There is no rational, data driven reason for leave.

democracy and economics don't usually go together

Dear people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland:

What the fuck are you doing?!

Sincerely,
The United States of America

Chiefly a result of the same right-wing anti-immigration fear-mongering that has led to Trumps rise in the US, sprinkled with some "fuck the establishment" protest votes.

You guys who claim that this will have awful consequences, how do you explain that Switzerland does just fine?

I have no dog in this, I'm just asking.

Fucks sake.

So basically, no more EU, change of leadership to someone equally incompetent, Scotland Refs again and leaves which means no more UK, goodbye Union Jack, then Wales will want to go, etc etc.

Everything is just completely fucked.

Having just woken up, this is pretty depressing. WTF happened? When I went to bed, even Farage was practically conceding that remain had edged it.

My local area has at least voted remain, but if this results in another Scottish independence vote then I'm crossing my fingers that the criteria for a passport is the same as they were saying in 2014.

So you're telling me there's NO situation in which the democratic process should not be adhered to? What about gay marriage? What about slavery? What if you put nuking some country up for a vote and it passes?

Brexit makes a united Ireland more likely that ever though, I'm sure the rest of the UK would actually be quite happy to see the back of us, as we cost significantly more than we give back. :/

I dunno, this whole thing from my perspective in Belfast, it seems like nobody has a clue how it will work for us. Any question about the border is met with "err well we don't know really. Hopefully we can sort that out."

There will need to be a border unless both countries have the same freedom of movement rules with the rest of the EU. Without it an EU citizen could enter Ireland under EU rules, drive across the border into Northern Ireland without a check. Then they get a ferry to Scotland and a train to London, never having to show their passport to a UK official.

I'm not necessarily against a United Ireland but there doesn't seem like there is a way for this to happen without people getting blown up.

10 year yield is near all time lows, but yeah, lets raise rates! All this uncertainty and they still contemplated fucking with rates when there's no fucking pressure to do so.

It's honestly a bit surprising that in a decision as important as this, 30% of the population didn't vote. I understand the malaise inherent in general elections, but this is a far more lasting decision.
