Sucks too see the pound dropping for people in the UK

But as a fan of many bands from there I can't wait to buy cheaper hoodies

Am I wrong to wonder why this was put to a democratic vote in the first place? Why would they expect everyone to know the economic intricacies of leaving the European Union?

Because the UK is not a technocracy?

Dear people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland:

What the fuck are you doing?!

Sincerely,
The United States of America

They clearly learned from the best!

Lessen to be learned also: stop listening to polls. They've been so backwards these past two years.

However, we are still a long ways away so I'd not worry too much just yet.

As someone from the US, I know only a bit of what's going on over there. Does this gif sum it up?

That's democracy. It doesn't exist to ensure the best decision is made - only that the people can participate.

You know what I reckon Hilton might have swung it with his nonsense about the PM's migration target being impossible at the weekend.

They should do a calamity cry and elect Gordon Ramsay as their Prime Supreme Chancellor of the United Water Island Kingdoms if the the Brexit really happens.

The markets are very confident in a remain win. Nigel Farage thinks remain have the edge.

It will be remain. Would be the greatest election upset of all time if remain win at this point I.e following closing of the polls.

Is it too early to quote this?

Yup. And several people in this thread are a part of it. Burned down their own country out of ignorance, and all they can think to say is "stop being mean to us" as if what they're doing isn't FAR fucking worse than some mean words being thrown around. The cognitive dissonance is staggering.

It's about trying to understand why people voted like this. In a democracy you can't say that 50+% of the people are just feckless idiots who can't be reasoned with because then you'll never be able to accomplish anything!

This is like watching a disaster occur in slow motion. I'll bet anything when all the shit hits the fan and the economy crashes, the idiots who voted for this point fingers everywhere except themselves. Basically, the vast majority of economists, financial organizations, governments, everyone has called out what will happen ... but, like ostriches, the scared little kids put their heads in the ground and ignored the data and, instead, responded on a purely emotional level. There is no rational, data driven reason for leave.

Brit-GAF, hop across the pond.

We have better food, we're not going to elect Trump, and we have the better football.

We are a nation of immigrants, a nation of people who sought out a better life for themselves.

You can be part of it.

P.S. We also have better beer.

You could say that about any election. In fact most elections are harder to decide than this, since you don't even know which, if any, promises a politician will keep. At least on this one you know one thing - it looks like the UK will leave the EU.

people already have voted to leave, there are going to be riots if the result isn't going to be respected

But if I understand things right, Article 50 means we have 2 years to negotiate things right? In that time, people probably won't be so riled up about the situation as they are now. Not wanting such a finicky situation, just wondering.
