Wow I am genuinely surprised this morning to see we are voting to leave, while I did vote remain in the end I was always 50/50 in wanting to stay/leave.

When both Ireland and Northern Ireland (part of the UK) were in the EU, there was the Schengen Area and there were no border controls between Ireland and the UK, both member nations. Now that the UK has left the EU, there is now no longer a Schengen Area and therefore the UK and Ireland must now decide if they will now have an enforceable border between two sovereign nations.

Except UK at least was not in Schengen so you are missing stuff

So the interesting questions now are
1. What kind of travel requirements will be imposed on brits and vice vers europeans
2. Will banks and financial institutes move to mainland europe or will they stay in london?
3. Will the industry stay in UK or possibly silently move out due to possible tarrifs
4. What will happen with the Brits leaving outside of UK? Will they be deported due to the lack of a visa?

Etc. Etc.

Well, now I have to decide to officially become British or stay Dutch. Although, reports of similar referendum in the Netherlands doesn't inspire confidence.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
This is bad. Not only for the UK, but I can see this triggering a chain reaction in the EU

I feel bad for all my British mates. Terrifying shit

Yeah. It won't take long for similar movements to arise in other countries.

I'm genuinely curious, how is it terrifying? What's going to happen? The GBP has dropped, but what does that entail exactly?

It seems like the effects are happening much faster than people expected. Is this normal? I assumed this would happen over the course of the year or so.

Ok, I'm pretty ignorant about the economy.

Someone I know voted for leaving because he thinks the housing prices will go down, is he right or just full of shit?

Made this in honor...of the recent events;

It will be tough but we are a small nation with some decent export and will swiftly get rid of Trident.

Look forward to the next 24 hours of the same Scots who were scared into voting No getting called morons and told you made your vote, no going back on it.

And the Labour Party probably trying to blame us for Brexit.

The issue that I sea is that an independent Scotland would be really dependent upon North Sea oil and it wants be like Norway. However, the potential revenues from those fields are rapidly dropping and there is no way oil could support the economy. I really don't see any way that this would work out for them.

I feel like Scotland going independent is a worse decision than the UK leaving the EU. I don't think Scotland has the resources to support itself.

So, do people that are adamant that Trump has no chance to win still feel that way?

Not being a smartass, legit asking.

The demographics really don't add up. But he will have a legit chance if people choose not to show up to the polls. Or dare I say throw their votes away out of some protest in mass numbers.

The Democratic leadership seem to be taking him seriously, so I don't think they will let up at least.

well this is Democracy after all and now the best thing to do for the Remain group is to not be depressed by the results but to look to the future and participate in shaping the new UK to represent your ideals

good luck to all BritishGAF

Why are people shocked that a majority of voters only care about immigration ? It's the same shit in France. People vote far right and want out of the EU only because of immigration. It's immigration this immigration that. Voters don't give a fuck about anything else.

I feel like a year ago brits would have voted for Remain and if it weren't for the refugee crisis and terrorist attacks in Paris the UK would still be part of the EU.

In addition to tanking the economy, this will also embolden racist parties even more across Europe.

Expect front national, Danish people's party, gert wilders, Swedish democrats, and the rest of the racists to double down on their hate rhetoric and push for getting out of the EU in order to avoid those pesky "human rights" obligations

In the near term I think housing prices (in terms of pounds) would go up because it is cheaper for foreigners to buy now with the sinking pound.

While I can definitely see another Scottish independence vote coming up, the Irish thing is not going to happen. Northern Ireland is a major economic drain on the UK, and the Republic simply couldn't afford to look after them. Won't happen. If it does it would need to be opened to the whole island of Ireland to vote and given the way the Irish economy has been for the past 8 years or so, people would undoubtedly vote cautiously and favour the status quo.

Then again, what do I know. I was confident the UK wouldn't be stupid enough to leave the EU.

Look, it sucks, but you can't change the result.

I am DEVASTATED by the result.

Serious question, how easy is it now for a UK citizen to find work in an EU country to find work in light of this decision?

I want off this sinking berg.
Come to Germany, we are looking for young people that work. Honestly, the job prospects are pretty good here and will only get better in the future.

What did Merkel do?

Ran the EU like her own 4th Reich actively seeking regime change in Greece etc. Making backdoor deals with Turkey etc. Brussels and Germany should have seen this coming. And they are probably scrambling to prevent this from spreading beyond UK. The Dutch, French and Spaniards along with the Greeks will be watching this unfold intently.

I don't necessarily blame Merkel but it seems EU elites have their heads in the sand as nationalism and far right parties taking hold all over.

I was finally in a place where it was becoming possible to think of buying a house. Guess I'll just pay overpriced rent until I die now. Thanks Mum.
