Burnout Crash |OT| Impressions At The End

I got done playing Burnout Revenge like 30 minutes ago, coming home to this shit is borderline depressing...you used to be cool, Burnout, what the hell :(

Just asking again -- The "friends board" before you actually load up the game shows a "most stars collected" tally for the game -- is this IN the game at all, or some sort of Worldwide Leaderboard system, and not just friends?

Really enjoying this, I have no-one on my friends list to Autolog with though. If anyone would like some competition add me: Label

Not me, I said Paradise sucked and I wasn't going to buy it until they added in a retry option. Devs fought it but then finally gave in and added it in a patch... then I bought the game.

and it still sucked, sigh...

wow, the Kinect/Hasselhof trailer is pretty bad.

On a related note, I agree with the comments made here that this is a fun game for what it is, a score chase game. But I wonder whether Criterion will patch in global leader boards.

Going for 5 stars on every level will be a challenge.

Anyone looking for some more autolog friends on PSN, add me (boingball).

i actually like this game. got 5 stars in everything for the first area. it's more thoughtful then a lot of people are talking about, but then again most people only play things on a surface level. retrying levels for the score stars is fun and addictive

tips? use the lamborghini diablos, and the golden dusenberg for big points. wrecking them gives points, and blowing them up gives additional points. you can combo explosions together for big points

i also try to keep a big pile of cars ready for the final explosion power up that happens when the time runs out.

the most stupid thing about this game is the leaderboard structure. they honestly can't expect people to go around adding random friends just so they have someone to compete with.

works for Gamestop (lol)
I actually enjoy this more than old Crash mode. There's actually a lot of content for $10 too (18 intersections + 3 modes for each one), plus the game is pretty difficult

Anyone actually have tips for this game? This is probably the hardest Burnout...no joke

I have just got to the beach area and the game is getting quite hard, I have to use the lighter cars for higher manoeuvrability to zip around the map, but I miss the massive explosions of the heavier cars :(

So my kids (3 and 5) bought this while I thought they were playing EyePet.
I guess I'm stuck with it now - how mad should I be at them?

This game is awesome.

I can see what people who are expecting this to be a traditional burnout game (or at least traditional crash mode) are a bit disappointed, but I've been having a lot of fun with this.

I love that gameplay is in bite sized chunks. I love that its easy to play, but hard to master. And more importantly, I love the constant explosions!

Spent lots of time over the weekend trying to get 5 stars (not very far). I'd love to see this game grow. More levels, more cars, bigger intersections and maybe some good multiplayer.

Yeah, it's really tricky getting 5 stars on each intersection. This is a great game to just pop in between other bigger games. Great for small patches of time.

I've actually kind of liked this less as I got further. Not sure if I'm going to finish it.

I think the core game is great, but even with the different intersection designs and modes and stage props and powerups, I started getting bored by halfway. In the end you're doing the same thing over and over again once you figure out a few good strategies.

Note that even if this WAS the old Burnout crash mode, I think it'd still get boring about doing it three dozen times. I just don't think crash mode is varied enough to support an entire standalone career. Works better as a mode in a bigger game like it was.

Well, for $10 I think it's a worthy experience, but yeah, it is the same thing over and over. At least there is a lot to chew on for those who really get into it.

On a random note, I wanted to point out that I've come to notice an odd graphical difference between the PS3 and 360 versions of this game. I found it rather odd considering how perfect Criterion's multiplatform work has been on Burnout Paradise and Hot Pursuit.

The 360 version of this game has a crazy amount of aliasing. It appears to me that it basically has no anti aliasing at all, while the PS3 version clearly does. You can even see this in the very first screenshot of this thread. It's a 360 screenshot and the white letters have a very jagged appearance to them. The difference even more noticeable in game. It's quite distracting, and a very odd problem for the 360 version. Almost makes me wonder if it was some kind of bug they didn't fix. I just can't figure out how they let this slip by, considering it's so noticeable and yet such a small problem it would seem quite easy to fix.

So I just finished all 270 stars and am seriously looking for some autolog competition.

can you play online against other player with this game? or its only offline with leaderboards?

It's just leaderboard competition, but the game does a very good job of constantly updating you on where you stand against your friends, etc. There is even a direct challenge system, where you can challenge a friend directly, and then see if they can beat your run.

Damn, that's pretty hardcore. I'd like to do the same myself though. ;)

Really sunk into this today, love the game. Reminds me a lot of E4 believe it or not.

Having an issue at Skywing and 2nd though. I'm doing the pileup and one star asks you to do a 10x smash chain. I've been starting up the far left side but can only seem to get it to 9 no matter what car I try. Little help? Am I taking the right route at least?

Nevermind, I got it, had the right route just needed to avoid some parked cars.

Take the furthest left path instead of the left side of the straight path.

Fun stuff. Whoever compared this to Every Extend Extra is right. It's like Burnout had drunken sex with EEE and out popped this.

What a visual :D

Jesus, I don't understand the hate on this game. This is a great use of an established license to make a quick, easy to get into Arcade game. If you dug the crash aspects of Burnout (I know, a silly statement), then this is a no brainer. Great use of friends list interaction as well, tons of replay value and a great starting price at $10 (only $5 right now for PS Plus members). What is not to love?

I added you as a friend. My gamertag is DredPirateStorm. I wish more of my friends were playing this.

It doesn't have the disaster porn factor of previous Burnout crash modes, yet it can't stand on its own as a skill and scoring system based arcade game, plus no global leaderboards. It ends up pleasing neither camp of players.

I picked this up on EA's Memorial Day iTunes sale.

It's fun enough, but I'd enjoy some Autolog friends. I'm Katori22 on Game Center and Katori022 on Origin. Add me if you have it!

Also, I think it's pretty hard, especially the "Pile Up" mode. Maybe I just don't know how to control it, but I feel like I'm just flicking madly.
